Entry from: Cobham, United Kingdom Entry Title: "In and Around London" Entry: "6/30/2010 It has been great to be with Catherine, Dave, Ryan and Connor. Weather is extremely warm and humid, and Sheila and I have been slow to adjust. Today, Catherine, the boys, Sheila and I went to London and got tickets at Leicester Square for the play "Oliver". The play was packed with schools and their students, and they proved to be an intense, yet appreciative audience. The play was great with the singing and dancing of the young boys in the play outstanding. The Drury Lane Theater opened in 1812 and famous for the best "effects" machinery in the world and was equipped with 10000 pullys and ropes. The chariot racer in Ben Hur was contrived with four great cradles, each with a treadmill each with a treadmill supporting four live horses; the chariot rotated by rubber rollers. Invisible steel cables held the horses and a continuous panoramic background gave the illusoin of a rade. In "Oliver", the stage elevated to show the underground living area where Fagan lived with his boys and in another scene, the buildings moved away from each other when there was a chase in the streets. It was so well done! Prior to the play, we had lunch at Tuttons in Covent Garden Market area, and our timing was impeccable, because there was ...

After breakfast in the hotel, we went over to the Mirage hotel to Siegfried & Roys Secret Garden. This cost us $12 each to get in but it is well worth it. We gor to see the White Lons and White Tigers, but there is so much more to see in there including leopards, elephants, dolphins and stingrays. We really had a good couple of hours in there. We got the handheld speakers that explained everything about the animals as you walked along. As a tip, it might be worth doing this visit very early on or late on because although some of the animals were lively, a lot of them were a bit lethargic in the lunchtime heat. Nevertheless, this was an awesome start to the day. We then went back to the Hard Rock Cafe for lunch. Lorna had a Pig Sandwich (no jokes or insults please) and I had a Cajun Cicken sandwich. On top of this I had a couple of Buds and Lorna had a couple of Smirnoff Ice, plus we both had a Long Island Iced Tea each - not quite made to the quality of my Long Islands but it wasn't bad! This cost us $49 altogether and to be honest I could have quite easily stayed there all afternoon supping Long Island Iced Teas and listening to the music, however, there ...

We waited for the Mini bus to come and pick us up from the hostel. Late as usually, we set of at 08.30 making our way out of the valley before the driver turned around and headed back into town. The next thing we know we have a different driver, not such what happened here. This driver loved to talk, telling the boy in the front about the history and current religious matters in the newspaper. We topped at 10.30 for lunch, chicken curry from a local stall and a few snacks from the shop. Its only a couple more house before you arrive at the Parks office. Tama Negara is a national park 4343sq km in size, dating back more than 130million years, claiming that it is the oldest Jungle in the world. Entry from: Yokohama, Japan Entry Title: "Exploring Yokohama" Entry: "Ryan took me to dinner with his work crew last night. We went to this awesome Japanese place and we had to remove our shoes before we could go in. I loved it! We ate in our own little private room and there was a low table in which you were supposed to sit cross legged. Of course, I wore a skirt, so this became a little tricky. When you wanted service you rang a little bell and within seconds a waiter slid the door open. The food was amazing and I tried this plum wine which was super sweet and tasted incredible. Apparently it is very strong and you have to be careful not to have a few too many. Don't worry, I stopped after one mom. Today I took a train, a bus and then walked about 10 minutes to get to this famous garden called, Senkeien Garden. It was designed by some wealthy businessman who made his fortune in the silk trade...whatever, it was a cool garden. I walked around there for about two hours and was absolutely mesmerized by the beauty of the place. It was pristine. I took about 1000 pictures. After that I took more trains and walked around other parts of the city scoping out good places for Ryan and I to walk around after he gets out of work. My mission is to find cool places to eat. So, here are some things I have learned ...

We still visit a couple of Hmong villages, but our aim is to be back at the resort in Luang Prabang in the early afternoon in order to enjoy some time at the pool. Wouldn't you know it! This vehicle has the same overheating problem as our first one, and we find ourselves temporarily disabled at the side of the road. We walk up the road carrying every empty water bottle we can scrounge until we find a stream. We fill them up and bring them back to the van. Our driver also tightens the hose connection, and we're off on the final 45 kilometers to our resort without further incident. We say goodbye to this driver and guide, as we pick up different ones tomorrow for the main city tour. We also gain an additional tour participant this afternoon, and get acquainted by the pool before going into town for our welcome dinner at a local restaurant. The Lao Lao Garden is fantastic, with a great atmosphere and an amazing barbecue done right at the table. I have my first taste of water buffalo, and quite like it!" A video montage of some night pictures I took during the 2010 Starry Night Tour of Gardens. The music is sung by Gerard Butler in a deleted scene from the film version of The Phantom of the Opera. The reason I chose this particular piece of music is that it seems to convey how lonely and ignored the community seems at times, with crime and urban blight. Then a group of people see the ignored beauty, they "hear" the music and bring out the beauty of the community with the annual garden walk. I used all natural lighting for an Impressionist purposes. I chose to use natural lighting and a softer focus to convey gentleness. A small bit of French Impressionism. This is the third of my garden walk videos, and my most favorite one.
'Where is your organiser?' asked the gent on the scooter. He had buzzed down the road into the Buffalo Bay parking lot as we were loading the last of the equipment onto the trailer. Directed to event manager Amanda Dixon and Roger Wynne-Dyke of EDGE of AFRICA Beach Festival, he exploded 'Congratulations on a slick and smooth event with every attention to the tiniest detail!' and buzzed off before Roger and the rest of the crew could respond or even ask his name. It was the cherry on the top of a wonderful day, a magnificent end to another successful summer Beach Festival of sports, music and sand sculptures. After postponing the 16th December start of Beach Fest due to pouring rain and heavy winds, Saturday 18th dawned to be a spectacular sunrise and, once the thick eerie mist lifted, the sunniest, hottest and windless day the Garden Route had seen in weeks. The team couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day! By 8am a great vibe was in the air as the local kids soccer teams arrived in taxi's at Brenton on Sea and headed down to the mist shrouded beach. After a brief introduction of the proceedings the teams set off down the beach for the 5km walk to Buffalo Bay. Their first challenge was to collect as much washed up litter en route which was to be used in a 'creative design' competition highlighting the danger of coastal litter on marine life. This was more of an experience than the organisers had planned; for some of the team members this was the first time they had ...

I want mine with air conditioning, two seats and a baggage shelf. Customized of course in power blue with a Jaguar front. It's still hard to believe that you have to wait over 30 years to bring your car on the island. Of course with the narrow streets and no where to park, it does make sense. I could live with the golf cart. Back to the hotel, grabbing our bags and walking down to the Discovery Tours office. There are large pay lockers in the parking lot to store our bags while we are on tour.
