Late-May 2010 in Japan. 年季の入った木材の下面でクマバチ♀が巣作りのため穿坑していました。鋭く強力な大顎でガリガリと木を齧り取っていきます。梁にぶら下がって作業するので、腹面に木屑が溜まっています。蜂は複眼ですから、ゴミが目に入っても当然痛くありませんね。顔が半分ぐらい穴に埋まるようになりました。クマバチにとってこの梁は恰好の営巣地のようで、ほぼ同じ大きさの巣穴が幾つも並んでいます。その全てが下面か側面に掘られていました。上面に穿坑すると雨水が侵入したり、木屑の排出に支障を来したりするのでしょう。初めての観察でとても感動しました。しかし木造建築の害虫と言われても仕方ないですね。

The head is placed on a colossal War Golem, which proceeds to break open a new path and access to a Ship Missile Expansion. In the next room, it looks like the Thorn Jungle is connected to the Cliffside area...hmm...In any case, Samus flies off the Fire (industrial Fuel Gel plant) section, to finish gathering all the expansion there (and in the snowy part!). Opening the temple reveals a sphere in the middle, with three large routound shapes. When Samus steps in, those large shapes begin to move, their eyes glow, and they look down on Samus, before burrowing down, almost eating Samus! Amorbis!!! There are 2 parts to Amorbis. The first part, it wears a light armor as it burrows in and out of the ground to attack. Simply shoot it with your beam. The Light Beam is most effective. The second part begins after you blast the armor. Amorbis now attaches itself to the sphere and becomes Dark Amorbis. It now flails about and shoots gunk to attack. Said gunk can neutralize the Light Crystals and Light Orbs, so be warned. The fact that the atmosphere is very damaging can make this a short battle for Samus, so conserve energy and gather any energy Amorbis spits out. Anyways, the weak point of Dark Amorbis is the head. Blow it off, and Amorbis will start sucking in air. Roll into Morph Ball, let it suck you in, and plant Morph Ball Bombs in its overweight body. The cycle repeats itself two more times, with an extra Amorbis poping out each round. When there are two or more Amorbis, they unleash an attack by flailing together and unleashing two or three beams, again, depending on how many there are. Once Amorbis can take no more, the orb which it was attached to, and which it kept wacking on the ground, explodes, revealing the Dark Suit, an expansion that offers some protection to the atmosphere of Dark Aether. Items Acquired: -missile ...
Yep, folks, this is my first uber noob battle! I used Garchomp, Tentacruel and Houndoom. He used Giratina, Heatran and Staraptor. Right off the bat, Garchomp uses Draco Meteor and does massive damage to Giratina. Giratina vanishes to get ready for Shadow Force, so Garchomp buys himself some time by using Swords Dance. Shadow Force ends up doing way less than I would have expected, and one more Draco Meteor takes out Giratina. He then sends out Heatran. Garchomp burrows underground. Heatran was about to use Lava Plume, but Garchomp was underground so he avoided it. Dig ohko's Heatran. Here comes his last Pokemon, Staraptor. Staraptor was a bigger problem as I would have hoped. I switch out Garchomp for Tentacruel. This was probably my biggest mistake of the match, because Tentacruel was slower than Staraptor and didn't even get to attack. I send Houndoom out. Staraptor flies up into the air, so Hyper Beam misses. I switch Houndoom out for Garchomp. Another big mistake. Fly does heavy damage to Garchomp, and I foolishly use Aerial Ace, which doesn't do much. Staraptor takes Garchomp out with an Aerial Ace of its own. I am forced to send Houndoom back out. Brave Bird nearly takes down Houndoom, but he barely holds on, luckily. Hyper Beam ends the match, with us winning. Get a better team, Damien...
Yep, that's right. I ran into another Rental Passer. I used Garchomp, Magnezone, Houndoom and Tentacruel. He used Gabite, Grotle, Luxio and Prinplup. Garchomp uses Draco Meteor on Gabite,ohkoing him. Magnezone lands a nice Hyper Beam on Grotle, taking him down to low health. Grotle used Razor Leaf but it didn't do much to either of my Pokemon. Garchomp burrows underground while Magnezone has to recharge...Luxio was going to use Spark on Garchomp but he was underground...it wouldn't have done anything anyway, since he was part Ground. Grotle Leech Seeds Magnezone and saps his health with it. I decide to switch out Magnezone for Houndoom, since nothing seemed effective at the time. Dig ohko's Luxio, and Grotle Bites Garchomp and barely does anything. He sends out Prinplup. Aerial Ace takes down Grotle and Houndoom Toxifies Prinplup. Prinplup uses Water Pulse on Garchomp and does...suprisingly more than expected. Poison takes a little of Prinplup's health away. I have Garchomp use Swords Dance to up his Attack stat, and a swift Hyper Beam from Houndoom puts Prinplup in danger. Prinplup's Metal Claw misses. An Aerial Ace from Garchomp takes out Prinplup, winning us the match. I'm getting awful tired of battling Rental Passers all the time...
The Hubble Space Telescope: The First Decade Hubble Supernova nasa's Hubble Space Telescope (HST) has obtained the best images yet of a mysterious mirror- imaged pair of rings of glowing gas that are encircling the site of the stellar explosion supernova 1987A. One possibility is that the two rings might be "painted" by a high-energy beam of radiation or particles, like a spinning light- show laser beam tracing circles on a screen. The source of the radiation might be a previously unknown stellar remnant that is a binary companion to the star that exploded in 1987. Images taken by Hubble show a dim object in the position of the suspected source of the celestial light show. "The Hubble images of the rings are quite spectacular and unexpected," says Dr. Chris Burrows of the European Space Agency and the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. Burrows used Hubble's Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 to image the rings in February 1994. The striking Hubble picture actually shows three rings. The smaller "center" ring of the trio was seen previously. The larger pair of outer rings were also seen in ground-based images, but the interpretation was not possible until the higher resolution Hubble observations. Though all of the rings probably are inclined to our view (so that they appear to intersect), they probably are in three different planes.
