BYU officials became aware of the violation on Monday before choosing to dismiss him from the team on Tuesday. With the Cougars storming toward the NCAA tournament, losing Davies, their primary inside scorer, could have disastrous affects in March. Though Davies has been dismissed from the team, and will not be able to play for the rest of the season, BYU issued a statement saying the school has not decided on his long-term future at the school and with the team. BYU released a statement Tuesday night that the university became aware of the violation of the honor code Monday. The school said in the release that since the violation just occurred, decisions on Davies' future with the team and in school are still undetermined. Davies has been an integral part of the BYU offense, using 22.6 percent of the Cougars' possessions while he's on the court and posting an offensive rating of 112. His rebounding percentages, both offensive and defensive, are among the team's best, and his ability to get to the free throw line is tops among BYU players who see significant minutes. Without Davies, BYU will reportedly go with smaller lineups and increase the tempo to compensate for the loss, focusing even more on Jimmer Fredette. With the NCAA tournament on the horizon, and a No. 1 seed hanging in the balance, Davies' honor code ...

My thoughts and experiences concerning being at BYU as a gay Mormon
Divine Comedy does a small skit then the angel's from freshmen orientation sing.
REXBURG - BYU-Idaho students adhere to an honor code that uniquely sets them apart. They even sign a contract with the university that they'll follow very specific rules. The dean of students says it prepares students to get ahead in the professional world. And it allows the university to bypass social or fashion trends. Most students strictly follow the honor code, but even the ones that do sometimes say it's hard. "It can be frustrating at times. But I think it really unites the school as a whole. And it just brings the Spirit as everyone lives it together," said sophomore Morgan Smith. The honor code has a few rules that may seem strict to outsiders. No hats, no flip-flops, and no shorts. "I'm from California, I don't see what's wrong with flip-flops," said Smith. "It's become an issue on campus sometimes. Kids ask the question, 'Why wouldn't we allow shorts on campus?' Shorts in it of themselves are not inherently bad. Particularly modest shorts. We don't discourage students from wearing shorts if their participating outside or outdoor activities. But for classroom attire, we would think that would be too casual," said Dean of Students Kip Harris. Mae Suppes says she sometimes hears students complain about the midnight curfew. "I don't really mind it because we all came to school knowing what the honor code is, and what is expected of us. So I don't think people have room to complain if they knew what they were getting into," said Junior Mae Suppes. "Personally I ...

REXBURG - I ask, "Is the University going to force homeowners near campus to sell their property? "The University has no interest in pushing anyone out of their existing relationship with the university and their income. Currently an investor is going to go for vacant property, it's less expensive than tearing down a house," answered Dean of Students Kevin Miyasaki. I ask, "Is there vacant property next to the University?" "There's vacant property, obviously our desire is that the development be as close to the University as possible. We know there's vacant property within a 2 block area of campus," answered Miyasaki. And just to be sure that there were some vacant lots within that 2 block radius of campus, I drove around. And as it turns out, there are some. BYU-Idaho prefers their students to live in dorms instead of renting out a basement or room, and that's why it's important that more dorms are built to accommodate the incoming 4000 additional students the University expects over the next 5 years. "The biggest advantage we often see is that often you got a whole ward in one complex," said Miyasaki. And that unity means no lost sheep among the throngs of students that uphold an honor code while attending the University. The Dean of Students also believes that there's an increasing market for housing non-students in the area. And although no new homes can convert to renting for single students, they can still rent to married students.
The Honor Code Cops have been given commission to enforce the honor code throughout the BYU-Idaho Campus.
