Massive Dessert Molded in the Form of Character from Highly Anticipated "Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon" New York, NY: June 2011: It's pastry in motion! Chef Buddy Valastro, star of the TLC reality television series "Cake Boss," has created a massive 2000 pound cake in the shape of Bumblebee - a character from the highly anticipated "Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon" film - straddling atop a Chevrolet Camaro! Valastro's Bumblebee Camaro cake, which took approximately four days to make and was recently displayed in New York, consists of vanilla pound cake with butter-cream frosting. Rick Krispies treats were used to bind the cake at critical flex points. The third installment of the popular Transformers series "Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon," directed by Michael Bay and starring Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, and John Turturro, debuts on June 29, 2011 Valastro revealed that this cake was his biggest challenge to date and actually had to be made outside of his bakery due to the enormous size of this automotive confection!

Century 21 Real Estate celebrates the 40th anniversary of the brand in grand fashion on The Cake Boss. This special celebration episode premieres on Monday, June 6 at 9 pm EST on TLC. The Cake Boss team surprised thousands of CENTURY 21® real estate professionals in attendance at the brand's annual convention in Las Vegas this past March with a spectacular, real estate-themed cake. While the audience enjoyed their samples, the TLC crew was there to kick off, and capture the anniversary festivities. Baked to feed 4000, the cake, weighing in at 2200 pounds, was made up of 50 sheets and is the largest ever for the Cake Boss team. With the Cake Boss staff spending 40 hours constructing the cake, it then took a 55-hour-refridgerated truck drive to transport the cake from the team's headquarters at Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop in Hoboken, NJ to the real estate brand's convention in Las Vegas.

"The Cake Boss" (Buddy Valerez) of Carlow's Bakery in Hoboken, NJ, allowed us to visit his kitchen last March. He and his family were shooting TLC's new season's debut of The Cake Boss, which aired tonight (5/31/10). Nobody asked me NOT to post this footage of a birthday cake Buddy made in the likeness of his wife, Lisa), but I didn't want to spoil the surprise of the season's opener. After all, they gave Charlie a VIP tour! :) Here you'll see the partially formed body before the "that's a man baby" head was replaced with a better version. I left this part out of the original video documenting our visit in March, and was looking forward to sharing it now... Too good not to post- especially Buddy's comment about sizing the chest. As background, we went to the bakery to pickup a cake for Jo (my wife), and about 5 people told me "no way, no how" to a "behind the scenes" tour. Finally one of Buddy's sisters put me on the phone with Carlow's PR contact... and he couldn't have been more accommodating. Thanks Carlow's and Buddy, and good luck on the new season!
