Obama has just lost 55 electoral votes from the state of california

www.americancrossroadswatch.org - AmericanCrossRoadsWatch.Org exposes the dirty tricks of Karl Rove, the US Chamber of Commerce, and the billionaire barons that are undermining American elections by secretly funneling money through the 501c4 astroturf organization known as "American Crossroads". By using a 501c4, the names of the donors are hidden to the public, skirting elections laws. They are buying politicians and using their big business cash to influence elections. They are trying to hand pick another Ken Blackwell or Katherine Harris in California, possibly to manipulate California's Electoral votes. We call on Damon Dunn to denounce this practice, and reject the support of this group. Contact Damon Dunn's campaign and ask him to reject their support 323-314-3342 or email at hbarajas@bellorhq.com.
September 26, 1960 - Watch the full debate: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com John F. Kennedy: www.amazon.com Richard Nixon: www.amazon.com The election on November 8 remains one of the most famous election nights in American history. Nixon watched the election returns from his suite at the famed Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, while JFK watched the returns at the Kennedy family compound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. As the early returns poured in from large Northern and Midwestern cities such as Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Chicago, Kennedy opened a large lead in the popular and electoral vote, and appeared headed for victory. However, as later returns came in from rural and suburban areas in the Midwest, the Rocky Mountain states, and the Pacific Coast states, Nixon began to steadily close the gap with Kennedy. Before midnight, The New York Times had gone to press with the headline "Kennedy Elected President". As the election again became too close to call, Times managing editor Turner Catledge hoped that, as he recalled in his memoirs, "a certain Midwestern mayor would steal enough votes to pull Kennedy through", thus allowing the Times to avoid the embarrassment of having announced the wrong winner, as the Chicago Tribune had memorably done twelve years earlier in announcing that Thomas E. Dewey had defeated President Truman. Nixon made a speech at about 3am, and hinted toward a concession. He hinted in that speech that Kennedy may have ...
There is a movement afoot, to bypass the Constitution, in all future Presidential elections. The Massachusetts Legislature has approved a new law intended to bypass the Electoral College system, set forth in the Constitution. The system set up in the Constitution, requires that each state's electors, cast votes for the President and Vice President and present those votes to the President of the Senate for a final tally. What fouled this system up was that 48 States passed "winner-take-all " rules, meaning that if candidate X got 51% of the vote in the state, he is awarded all of that states electoral votes. This is why Al Gore lost the election to Bush in 2000. Only 2 states, Maine and Nebraska, do not follow the winner-takes-all rule, dividing the votes, between the candidates, as required by the Constitution. It was not the electoral system that was at fault, it was the winner-take-all rules. Now, state by state, the Liberals are passing a national winner-take-all scheme. Illinois, New Jersey, Hawaii, Maryland, and Washington have approved this new system, which could nullify your vote. In Massachusetts, California, Colorado, Vermont and Rhode Island, the measure has already passed both Houses. Under this new system, the national popular vote will determine how your states electoral votes are cast. You could see all of your states electoral votes cast for a candidate, that didn't win the majority of votes in your state. It is even possible to see all of your states ...
September 26, 1960 - Watch the full debate: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com John F. Kennedy: www.amazon.com Richard Nixon: www.amazon.com There were sixteen primaries. Kennedy entered seven of the primaries; Humphrey entered five of them; Morse entered three; and Brown entered one. Polls showed Brown to be invincible in California. Morse challenged Hubert Humphrey in the Distict of Columbia primary and John Kennedy in the Maryland primary. Oregon listed all of the candidates with the exception of Brown. Wisconsin and West Virginia were contested primaries between Kennedy and Humphrey. A problem for Kennedy was his Roman Catholic religion. Recalling the experience of 1928 Catholic Democratic presidential nominee Al Smith, many wondered if anti-Catholic prejudice would hurt Kennedy's chances of winning the nomination and the election in November. To prove his vote-getting ability, Kennedy challenged Minnesota Senator Hubert Humphrey, a liberal, in the Wisconsin primary. Although Kennedy defeated Humphrey in Wisconsin, the fact that his margin of victory came mostly from heavily Catholic areas left many party bosses unconvinced of Kennedy's appeal to non-Catholic voters. Meanwhile, in the District of Columbia primary, Humphrey had defeated Oregon Senator Wayne Morse. Kenndy also defeated Morse in the Maryland primary. Kennedy next faced Humphrey in the heavily Protestant state of West Virginia, where anti-Catholic bigotry was said to be widespread. Humphrey's campaign was low ...
September 26, 1960 - Watch the full debate: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com John F. Kennedy: www.amazon.com Richard Nixon: www.amazon.com The United States presidential election of 1960 marked the end of Dwight D. Eisenhower's two terms as President. Eisenhower's Vice President, Richard Nixon, who had transformed his office into a national political base, was the Republican candidate, whereas the Democrats nominated Massachusetts Senator John F. Kennedy. The electoral vote was the closest in any presidential election since 1916. In the popular vote, Kennedy's margin of victory was among the closest ever in American history. The 1960 election also remains a source of debate among some historians as to whether vote theft in selected states aided Kennedy's victory. Virginian Senator Harry F. Byrd received 15 electoral votes from 14 Southern and one Oklahoma unpledged and faithless electors, respectively. This was the first presidential election in which Alaska and Hawaii participated, having been granted statehood, respectively, on January 3 and August 21 of the previous year. It was also the first election in which both candidates for president were born in the 20th century. This is also the most recent election where the candidate who carried Ohio did not win the overall election. Democratic candidates * John F. Kennedy, US senator from Massachusetts. * Lyndon B. Johnson, US Senate Majority Leader from Texas. * Stuart Symington, US senator from Missouri. * Adlai E. Stevenson ...
June 19, 1993 www.amazon.com Watch the full program: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com The United States presidential election of 1992 had three major candidates: Incumbent Republican President George HW Bush; Democrat Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton, and independent Texas businessman Ross Perot. Bush had alienated much of his conservative base by breaking his 1988 campaign pledge against raising taxes, the economy was in a recession, and Bush's perceived greatest strength, foreign policy, was regarded as much less important following the collapse of the Soviet Union and the relatively peaceful climate in the Middle East after the defeat of Iraq in the Gulf War. Clinton won a plurality in the popular vote, and a wide Electoral College margin. Conservative journalist Pat Buchanan was the primary opponent of President Bush. However, Buchanan's best showing was in the New Hampshire primary on 2/18/1992 - where Bush won by a 53-38% margin. President Bush won 73% of all primary votes, with 9199463 votes. Buchanan won 2899488 votes; unpledged delegates won 287383 votes, and David Duke as founder of the Louisiana-based Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, a Ku Klux Klan group won 119115 votes. Just over 100000 votes were cast for all other candidates, half of which were write-in votes for H. Ross Perot. President George HW Bush and Vice President Dan Quayle easily won renomination by the Republican Party. However, the success of the conservative opposition forced the moderate Bush to move ...
...Democrats right now are a little gun-shy in approving any more spending because an anti-incumbent wave of voter anger is sweeping the country. People are understandably upset because here they are, many of them hurting, many of them having lost their jobs, or having their wages frozen or forced to take lower-paying work and still they are being expected to support government workers at a level that they themselves didn't enjoy when they had actual good employment in the private sector. They also don't like the idea of subsidizing state workers in states with poor fiscal responsibility, like California. Why should someone in Texas support wasteful government bureaucracy in California? It's madness and these irresponsible state governments should get their fiscal houses in order. Bailing them out is only an absolution of accountability. Lawmakers in states like California will never be held accountable to their own voters for their own actions if we continue doing this. It's become apparent to me what the greatest problem in our nation is. It is Public Sector Unions. These unions use not only their collective bargaining power, but their votes in American elections to keep the gravy train running. This is a huge advantage that these unions have over private-sector unions. Democrats, over time, have become more beholden to the electoral power of these unions, and as a result, they've capitulated and are even encouraging this behavior in order to stay in power. Boxer was first elected to the US Senate in 1992, becoming the second female Jewish US senator, after Sen. Dianne Feinstein. She was reelected in 1998 and in 2004 for a term ending in January 2011. With the convening of the 110th Congress, Boxer became the first female chair of the Environment and Public Works Committee and, following the resignation of Sen. Tim Johnson (D-South Dakota) from the post, she was also chosen as chair of the Select Committee on Ethics. This made her the only senator to preside over two committees simultaneously. She holds the record for the most popular votes in a statewide contested election in California, having received 6955728 votes in her 2004 re-election over former Republican Secretary of State Bill Jones. She currently holds the position of Chief Deputy Whip of the Democratic Majority. On August 17 at the Republican convention in New Orleans, Louisiana, George HW Bush called on Quayle to be his running mate in the 1988 United States presidential election. The choice immediately became controversial. Press coverage of the convention was dominated with questions about "the three Quayle problems", in the phrase of H. Brent Bozell, executive director of the Media Research Center, a conservative group that monitors television ...
February 16, 1990 www.amazon.com Watch the full testimony: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com Despite an unsuccessful attempt to recall him in 1968, Reagan was re-elected in 1970, defeating "Big Daddy" Jesse M. Unruh. He chose not to seek a third term in the following election cycle. One of Reagan's greatest frustrations in office concerned capital punishment, which he strongly supported. His efforts to enforce the state's laws in this area were thwarted when the Supreme Court of California issued its People v. Anderson decision, which invalidated all death sentences issued in California prior to 1972, though the decision was later overturned by a constitutional amendment. The only execution during Reagan's governorship was on April 12, 1967, when Aaron Mitchell's sentence was carried out by the state in San Quentin's gas chamber. Reagan wrote that the tax increase, in combination with the spending cuts, has created revenue surpluses, so he gave four tax rebates to the people, which he claims to have amounted to over $5 billion. During his Governorship, Reagan was sent to many nations by Nixon as a special envoy. Reagan's terms as governor helped to shape the policies he would pursue in his later political career as president. By campaigning on a platform of sending "the welfare bums back to work", he spoke out against the idea of the welfare state. He also strongly advocated the Republican ideal of less government regulation of the economy, including that of undue federal ...

While losing quite badly in the 1964 election, some political pundits and historians believe Goldwater laid the foundation for the conservative revolution to follow. Ronald Reagan's speech on Goldwater's behalf, grassroots organization, and the conservative takeover (although temporary in the 60's) of the Republican party would all help to bring about the "Reagan Revolution" of the 1980s. Indeed, many of today's leading politicians first entered politics to work for Goldwater, including Hillary Clinton. Johnson went from his victory in the 1964 election to launch the Great Society program at home, signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and starting the War on Poverty. He also escalated the Vietnam War, which eroded his popularity. By 1968, Johnson's popularity had declined and the Democrats became so split over his candidacy that he withdrew as a candidate. Moreover, his support of civil rights for African-Americans helped split union members and Southerners away from Franklin Roosevelt's Democratic New Deal Coalition, which would later lead to the phenomenon of the "Reagan Democrat". Of the eleven presidential elections that followed, Democrats would win only four times. Columnist George Will had this to say about the lasting effects of the 1964 election: "It took 16 years to count the votes, and Goldwater won." The election also shifted the African-American voting electorate away from the Republican Party due to Goldwater's opposition to federal civil rights laws. Since ...
____ boazpower.com ____(July 14, 2003) His father had been the President of the United States. He also became President. The State of Florida was prominent in his life as a politician. He won the Presidency by an unusual decision. Did you think I was talking about President George W. Bush? I could have been. However, I was actually talking about John Quincy Adams, the sixth President of the United States. Its amazing how history can repeat itself. The same thing can occur in all of our lives. History can repeat itself. The important point is to learn from our mistakes, make course corrections and benefit from past experiences. Born in Braintree (later Quincy) Massachusetts in 1767, John Quincy Adams was the son of John Adams, the second President of the United States. Public service was the family business. As a child, he traveled on his fathers diplomatic missions. When he was just 14 years old, he became the private secretary to the American envoy at St. Petersburg. At the age of 20, Adams graduated from Harvard and was admitted to the bar. From that point, in 1790, until he was 33, he served the United States as the ambassador to the Netherlands, England, Portugal and Berlin. In 1803, he was elected to the US Senate. Having lost his Senate seat in 1808, he became ambassador to Russia the next year. It was in 1814 that he became a member of a commission that negotiated peace with Great Britain. He was the ambassador to that country form 1815 to 1817. James Monroe became ...

Film footage courtesy of Turin Film Corp.: www.youtube.com In 1960, Nixon launched his campaign for President of the United States. He faced little opposition in the Republican primaries, and chose former Massachusetts Senator Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr. as his running mate. His Democratic challenger was John F. Kennedy, and the race remained close for the duration. Nixon campaigned on his experience, but Kennedy called for new blood and claimed the Eisenhower-Nixon administration allowed the Soviet Union to overtake the US in ballistic missiles (the "missile gap"). Kennedy told voters it was time to "get the country moving again." In the midst of the campaign, Nixon advocated stimulative tax cuts in what became a supply-side theory. He also presented a plan for economic growth and deficit reduction, which appealed to many. A new medium was brought to the campaign: televised presidential debates. In the first of four such debates, Nixon was recovering from illness and, wearing little makeup, looked wan and uncomfortable, in contrast to the composed Kennedy. Nixon's performance in the debate was perceived to be mediocre in the visual medium of television, though many people listening on the radio thought he won. That November, Nixon lost the 1960 election narrowly. The final count recorded that he lost by 120000 votes, or 0.2%. There were charges of vote fraud in Texas and Illinois; Nixon supporters unsuccessfully challenged results in both states as well as nine others. The ...
(July 11, 2009) Luis Fraga, former Stanford political science professor and noted expert on Latino and racial politics, argues that Barack Obama's electoral victory and recent nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the US Supreme Court mark a dramatic shift in the country's racial thinking and are indicative of long-term trends. Politicians, now more than ever, are needing to reach across racial divides in order to win votes, a sea-change that is opening up new opportunities for minorities like Obama and Sotomayor to rise to the top. Complete video at: fora.tv In this clip from February 2009, journalist Azadeh Moaveni notes that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ran on a campaign of 'change' during the 2005 election that initially saw him elected to office - a detail that may seem ironic in light of Iran's current allegations of electoral fraud. ----- As one of the few American correspondents allowed to work continuously in Iran since 1999, Azadeh Moaveni has reported widely on women's rights, Islamic reform and youth culture. She discusses her personal experiences living and working in Iran, including how, after facing the threat of arrest, she fled the country to protect her family's safety. - Commonwealth Club of Silicon Valley Azadeh Moaveni grew up in California, her parents having left Iran in 1976, three years before the Islamic revolution. The unresolved tension she felt between her cultural identity as an Iranian and an American led her to go to Iran as a journalist. For two years she wrote about Iran for Time, finding a complex and varied reality. Her stay was bracketed by the pro-democracy student demonstrations of 1999 and President Bush's "axis of evil" speech in 2001, after which the government clamped down hard on dissent and on journalists. She was compelled to leave in fear for her safety. Her book Lipstick Jihad: A Memoir of Growing up Iranian in America and American in Iran is the account of Moaveni's time in Iran, and of her quest to better understand her cultural identity.
What about the democratic principle of one person, one vote? Isnt that principle essential to our form of government? The Founders handiwork says otherwise. Neither the Senate, nor the Supreme Court, nor the president is elected on the basis of one person, one vote. Thats why a state like Montana, with fewer than one million residents, gets the same number of Senators as California, with 33 million people. Consistency would require that if we abolish the Electoral College, we rid ourselves of the Senate as well. John Samples defends the Electoral College on C-span's Washngton Journal.

Martin Luther King delivered his "I Have A Dream" speech, many Americans feel that dream has been realized with the election of Barack Obama as 44th president of the United States. www.instablogs.com Alan Keyes non citizenship theory Alan Keyes the black Republican candidate who lost to Obama in the 2004 Senate race, is now trying to sue Obama, claiming that the new president-elect was not born in the US Keyes filed suit in California Superior Court in Sacramento to stop the state from giving its electoral votes to Obama until evidence is shown to prove Obama was born in the US Keyes was the presidential candidate of the American Independent Party in the 2008 election and was reportedly listed on the California state ballot. He has run for office several times before and never won. The story is old news for the Obama campaign. The Washington Post investigated months ago and debunked the non citizenship story. And factcheck.org, an independent research project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania, also proved that Obama is, in fact, a natural born US citizen. The facts: Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on Friday, August 4, 1961 at 7:24 pm
