A short movie we made for an upcoming tutorial "The Film Look on the T2i". No plot or story here, we just wanted to get cinematic shots. The first tutorial will be all about the settings used for each shot of this movie and why we used them, followed by a shot by shot breakdown with the camera settings and Lenses used Overlayed on the screen. The second part of the tutorial will be all about what went into Editing. Including everything from Import, File Conversion, Color Correction, and Final Export. The first Tutorial will be out tomorrow while the second (Editing) will be online Thursday. This tutorial comes from quite a few requests so I hope it will answer most of the questions you have about getting a great look out of the T2i. Wasn't planning on releasing this on it's own but with some music it kind of stands alone as a little movie I guess. I think that it might help to be able to watch the finished product without having to search through the tutorials. I promised links for the items shown in the video, and really the best suggestion is to go to Ebay and use the following search terms "37mm lens hood", "pop up pocket magnifier", and "T2i LCD protector". You might find a deal on the pop up magnifier at a local office supply store. The black foam board can be found at Walmart or most art and hobby supply stores, usually for a lot less than at specialty office stores. If you have any specific questions about the items, just send me a message or leave a comment, I'll get back to you as quickly as I can!

Most people who watch vids on this channel want to know the status of the hacked firmware for the following cameras: Here's a brief summary Canon T2i: Still behind 7D, probably will not happen Canon 7D: Trammel Hudson says he is unable to run Magic Lantern on the camera, and it most likely wont be possible for the camera to be hacked. Only way to get needed featrues is to contact Canon. Panasonic GH1 and GF1: Ptool is making progress, GF1 now has manual controls, but Panasonic has started with stealth updates that leave cameras made within the last month unhackable for the time being. Grab either camera now before the ability to hack is gone.

Watch part 2 here: www.learningdslrvideo.com s you can see by the video below I finally figured out how to disable or bypass the AGC (Automatic Gain Control) on my Canon T2i 550D while using the Rode VideoMic. (This will work for the Canon 7D as well). I ran across a good video by Mike B at IamTheMikeB.com, he explain how to disable the AGC which I had to give a try. But I couldn't get his hack to work for my Rode Videomic and judging the comments on his video no one else could either. I made 3 trips to Radio Shack but none of these adapters worked. Don't buy the ones I got if you have a Rode VideoMic. I didn't want to get a JuicedLink or a Zoom H4N or anything else that would add time and steps to my DSLR video workflow, I like to keep it cheap and simple. perhaps someday Canon will be nice and provide a firmware update for the AGC, but I didn't want to wait any longer. The problem is Canon designed a poor automatic gain control AGC which would have been better if they left it out of the design all together. What happens is if you talk really loud into the microphone the AGC will bring your level down which eliminates the hiss, but only 1 second later after you stop talking it brings the level all the way up again (along with the hiss). What we want to do is clamp the AGC down and keep it there to keep the hiss away so we can have nice clean audio. To do this I use an old cheap mp3 player I had collecting dust to playback a 1 hour 19kHz sine wave tone by sending the tone ...
Testing out my fish lens and hi-speed on my new Canon T2i/550d. Shot at 720p60 and 1080p30 - Lens is Tokina 10-17mm F3.5-4.5 Fisheye and the kit lens. Just wanted to add (because some dumb ass recently said something about it) the reason I got a new camera was to return to my long lost hobby of making skate videos. That was the sole reason, though from time to time I may make a short or two. So when I say "hear come some skate videos" it means I've ended the long road of searching (and buying one very expensive camera and then returning it) and have decided to settle down on the T2i. Canon T2i/550D footage shot in Quitman, Arkansas on the way back from a family reunion. Cropped and graded in post, in the outdated Vegas 6. Didn't transcode the video before dropping it into Vegas - I've noticed a quality loss during transcoding, and importing without converting seems to work fine in manageable amounts. Shot at 60p and slowed by a factor of 2 in post. I turned off resampling to eliminate ghosting at the suggestion of someone on YouTube, but found the slowed 60p much less smooth with Smart Resampling in Vegas disabled. As noted by the visible blue sky in the wider shots, the camera holds a decent dynamic range (blue, visible darkness in the sky with a still properly exposed ground) when shot with the Marvels Cine Picture Style - as I shot with here. All shot on the 18-55mm kit lens, all handheld. So excuse the shake. Mostly all zoomed in, at 55mm for an aperture of f/5.6. Shot at 200 and 400 ISO, respectively.
Here is my very first unboxing video. I also gave you guys a preview of the quality of some pictures and video. Unboxing the EOS Rebel T2i or EOS 550D. This is my transition DSLR from point and shoot digital cameras. After doing some research, I had concluded that this was the DSLR for me. Great Video Quality and Great Picture Quality. Hardware in this video: 1. Canon Rebel T2i EF-S 18-55 IS KIT 2. (Zoom Lenz) Canon EFS 55-250mm 3. (Portrait Lens) Canon EF 50mm 1.8 4. Ok this is just for people curious about the HD video feature of the Canon Rebel T2i (550D). Yes it is boring. The first clip is what you can expect if you take your Canon out of the box and start shooting 1080P video with the 24 frames per second option. The other clips are the same setup, but with color and other effects added later. All clips were shot handheld. This was with the 18-55mm IS kit lens that came with the camera. It's not a bad lens for a kit lens in my opinion. I'm still trying to work out how to get the video quality to match the quality of some other vids I've seen on Youtube. I've got the good 50mm F1.4 USM lens that everyone seems to use. Biggest drawbacks so far with this camera for video are: 1. Autofocus is useless during recording. You can use it, but once you try it, you won't ever do it again. 2. The ergonomics for video recording are not very good. Hard to keep the cam steady AND adjust focus during filming. Much better for scenes where a fixed focus can be used. 3. Editing the .mov files it creates is a MAJOR pain in the ass for PC and Sony Vegas users. Personally I have to transcode all my original .mov files before I can properly use them in Vegas. Anyway, I love this camera. It's fantastic. Music by Kevin MacLeod.

Subscribe please I joined the world of HD video. I recently got my new Canon t2i/550d DSLR camera. I'm so happy with it so far. It's strange filming with a photo camera but I still love it. This was the first footage I shot with it so these were all just test clips so I could learn the camera. There's still a lot to learn since I've never filmed in high def before. I apologize for the blurred shots. I should have shot the slow mo's in 60fps! I used the 18-55mm kit lens for this. Everything on the camera was stock. Everything was shot at ISO 400 if I remember correctly. I edited and color graded in Sony Vegas 5 :p If you like Vimeo better, the go here: vimeo.com Watch in HD! I edited with Sony Vegas Pro 8.0. The video is also color corrected. Oh yah, I shot it in 29.97 frames per second. Like my "Red Pad Rockband Fix" video, I enjoy finding these cheap workarounds to expensive problems and logging it somewhere for the benefit of the community. In this case, I am tackling the dreaded AGC 'feature' on the Canon 7D and T2i. Here's a copy of the tone in a 30 minute mp3: bit.ly
Okay, this is Idiotville movie making. This is the first DSLR video we've tried -- just push the button, then use the Canon software and try to upload to YouTube. Tracey and I both got the new-ish T2i cameras, so we are learning together. I have an advantage from owning the Canon 5D (without video). But all my videos so far have been with the little Canon ZR850 Mini DV camera. It sure looks a lot better starting out. No editing done, just download and upload. Let's see how this goes! Casual attire is a requirement for camera nerds!
Here is a test shoot with a Keihan 16B 2x anamorphic lens mounted on a Nikon 50mm F2.0 lens. Most of this shoot was shot at f5.6. f2.8 was the widest I shot as it got later (and I had less light). It was shot on a Canon T2i. ISO was set at 200 with a shutter speed of 50 I believe.
