This DVD presents a film about the 7.3 M earthquake that occurred in Honduras on May 28, 2009. the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Montagua-Swan Islands transform fault int he Cayman Trench, some 130 kilometers (81 miles) form the Honduran mainland and 64 kilometers (40 miles) northeast of the island of Roatan. This film captures the experiences of the local residents as well as dmamage to homes, bridges and multi-story buildings.

New Trenching Discovery Line 53 Area On January 10 2010, the Company reported a new late season 2009 trenching discovery on Line 53N and 22+50W which was an extension across the stratigraphy of the 2008 original Line 53 area trenching and drilling discovery. The new discovery has exposed approximately 75 metres of a highly altered sulphide zone comprised of lenses, pods and blocks of massive sulphide mineralization and further extends the overall width of the Line 53 trenching and drilling mineralized zone. The Line 53N and 22W area is centred on the strongest co-incident multi-element enzyme leach soil anomaly and is near the contact between chargeability highs and resistivity lows, a geophysical pattern which is consistent as a favourable location for the formation of volcanogenic massive sulphide mineralization. A high priority has been given to the L53 trench and drilling discovery area in order to further extend the mineralization in the new trench and also to see it in drill core. The widespread occurrence of footwall-type alteration and mineralization on surface and in drill core affirms the overturned nature of the local stratigraphy, evidenced by results from previous exploration programs. The massive sulphide lenses discovered in the Discovery Trench in 2001 and in the F9 Target trenches in 2007/2009 are considered to exist ...

An American ballistic missile submarine, the USS Montana, sinks near the edge of the Cayman Trough after an accidental encounter with an unidentified submerged object. Expedition divers will travel to the Cayman Islands to explore the Cayman Trench aboard a deep sea submersible. Divers will also examine the shallow coral reef and its nocturnal residents. In addition, this program will document the progress of a former Soviet warship sunk as an artificial reef off the coast of Cayman Brac. The rays of 'Stingray City' will also be featured.
This is a video I shot of a six gill shark from the deep submersable 'Idebal. The video was shot at a depth of 2000'. The shark is a female, and we estimated her length of 24'. The dive took place in the Cayman Trench, off the coast of Roatan Honduras. I thought it was pretty cool, and would love to hear any comments on the natural history of the sharks. I might post some other areas we filmed around the site. Also can post additional footage of this shark if there is any interest. Thanks!!

Great Wall West is another great dive site on the north side of Little Cayman. It is a huge underwater plateau on the edge of the Cayman trench. The top of the wall is flat at about 25-30 feet and when you get to the edge of the wall, it is a shear vertical drop to thousands of feet of depth! It is an impressive wall to see and there is a lot of great marine life on the wall as well as on top of it.

This is an absolutely gorgeous deep wall dive off the northeast shore of Grand Cayman. There are two swim throughs that lead out to the edge of the 6000 foot drop off into the Cayman Trench. The dive starts at one of the swim throughs and ends at the other. Lots of hard coral, gorgonians and black coral are found on this site.

This is the first time that glowing lava has ever been witnessed from a submarine volcanic eruption! In this case, the lava is rising in the vent so fast that a small glimpse of red glow can be seen intermittently before it crusts over or is blown apart. What a sight!
