I hope that all the people who see us will be happy in knowing that we, despite being prisoners, we were able to do this. Before the dancing, our problems were really heavy to bear. Dancing takes our minds away from our problems. Our bodies became more healthy. As for the judges, they may be impressed with us, seeing that we are being rehabilitated and this could help our case. We are being rehabilitated in a good way. {by Crisanto Nierre, inmate who played Michael Jackson}. Philippine prisoners who became famous for dancing to Michael Jackson tunes are to give a tribute performance to mark the first anniversary of the death of the King of Pop. The high-security Cebu prison will throw its gates open to a limited number of members of the public for the show on Saturday, a year and a day after Jackson's death, the provincial government said. "It will be a sort of a tribute," said Amor Sarmiento, an aide to Cebu governor Gwendolyn Garcia. Dressed in tangerine jumpsuits, the some 1500 convicted murderers, rapists, and drug dealers at the prison became an Internet phenomenon as they performed the zombie dance from Jackson's "Thriller" music video. The performance, posted on the video-sharing website YouTube by the jail authorities in July 2007, quickly became one of the most watched clips on the Internet and has so far registered more than 42 million hits. A former security consultant at the jail, Byron Garcia -- a brother of the governor -- came up with the idea in 2006 of ...

In 2007, the inmates of Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC), a maximum security prison in Cebu, in the Cebu Province of the Philippines, imitated the zombie dance featured in the music video of Michael Jackson's "Thriller". The footage, uploaded onto video-sharing website YouTube, became an immediate internet hit and viral video. And now I've further cheapened it by putting another song on top of it. Black Spring Break, "Try"
The Filipino inmates who rocketed to fame with a YouTube video of their "Thriller" dance did it again Saturday in a tribute to their idol, Michael Jackson. The inmates were commemorating the first anniversary of the pop idol's death. (June 26)

Cebu inmates of the Philippines with the dance instructors of lady gaga and michael jackson... Hope youll like it ADD ME as a friend ... thanks =) (video repost)
The girls are very excited. Maybe they are gonna dance with the inmates. The dancing prisoners from Cebu jail. You know, in the Philippines everything is MAYBE. You never know what's gonna happen. You can plan whatever you like, but you always take the weather with you. Which means that if there is a typhoon, you get stuck on an island, so no prison dance. But if we do it next March, I hope the inmates will still be able to dance with those very exy girls in front...:):):):) www.ltshr.tv!

An innovative approach to keeping the peace in prison! Byron Garcia gets the credit for creating this idea to occupy the prisoners and promote teamwork and pride with their newly discovered talent as dancers. They're too tired to cause any trouble after these rigorous dance sessions! Great audience participation.... info@globalvideoprotv.com

We traveled down across to the Philippines and right into the heart of a typhoon in October 2009 to go and get a close up look of what all the commotion has been about at Cebu's maximum security regional prison. What was waiting for us totally blew me away. Byron Garcia has been running a programme for a year or so now at the facility that has got behavioural experts talking all over the globe. Once a month, 1500 odd prisoners (out of a total of around 1800 prisoners at the facility) put on a dancing spectacular for a crown of over 1000 spectators that fly in from all parts of the globe. The prisoners perform for 3 hours in the blazing sun - but seemed to really enjoy every moment of it - I think especially the last bit where they get to dance with and take photos with the guests - many of them hot looking young Korean and other international women who have for some reason or other made their way to Cebu. They gave me a real prison outfit to take home - it was Halloween the next night and I thought of wearing the suit out as a Halloween costume - then I thought twice. It could very well backfire on me and I could end up finding myself not being able to leave the country! In the first of 2 clips, we look at the performances and what it's like in the prison. In the 2nd clip, we get a one on one interview with the brain behind it all - Byron Garcia. Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) gives one of the most surreal performances I have ever seen the last Saturday of every month. If you ever intend on being in Cebu, Philippines, I'd say skip this video and watch it live! If, however, for some reason (like you're half a world away) you can't make it out to this tropical island, I hope you enjoy my addition to the whole Michael Jackson/Inmates/Dancing/Thriller/Ladyboys/Youtube canon at least a tenth as much as I did seeing it live. Music by Caravan Palace. Shot it all with one Sony HX1 Cybershot camera. www.i-bennett.com
cebu city (philippines) shows it's wrath as it breaks the world record for the largest dance class of 2009.
Wonder Girls in Cebu Prison! Well, the intoxicating song of the well-known Korean girl group 'Wonder Girls' has now invaded the Philippines and passed even through the great and stern walls of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) or 'Prison'. Now, the inmates are happily visited not only by their own love ones but even by fans and foreign tourists in their supposedly 'sad state'.

Anna Coren reports from Cebu, Philippines. There will be an election in 2010. It will be your only opportunity to make drastic reforms in Philippines by voting the right person for President. It is important that you research and review the candidates. Know their history and how they performed while in the public office. What have they done to stop corruption? You have only one vote. Make it worth our country. Remove those who you believe do not meet the most important requirements. Amid the tropical heat of a Philippine prison, convicted murderers, rapists and drug dealers on Saturday paid tribute to Michael Jackson with a reprise of their YouTube dance hit, "Thriller." A rendition of Jackson's 1980s smash hit by prisoners at the Cebu Detention and Rehabilitation Center in the central Philippines garnered more than 24 million views since 2007, when prison supervisor Byron Garcia first uploaded it! I saw the CPDRC dancing prisoners in Cebu, Philippines dance to Flo Rida, Soulja Boy, MC Hammer, Gloria, and more. Ironically they don't dance to Jailhouse Rock. I documented the experience seeing the inmates dance to teach you how to see them live.

jehovahswitnessnews.wordpress.com sprinklerrepair562.blogspot.com IF Michael Jackson came to town and visited the Cebu provincial jail, he would take one look at the inmates and then start to hyperventilate. He would think he was staring at the faces of real zombies dancing to his 1983 music video "Thriller." If the glutathione icon would expect the inmates at the Cebu provincial jail to look like the hunkylicious brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows of "Prison Break," he would be disappointed. If the inmates resembled just a little like the brothers and there would be a demand from the female and gay population for them to dance stiffly in public, then Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña might just allow the inmates to perform at the Cebu City Sports Center during the Sinulog. But then, he might not. The mayor reportedly has declared that he will not allow the prisoners to dance at the sports center "(not) even if Michael Jackson joins them." But even if Michael Jackson would join them, people would not be jamming the center to see the inmates dance. They would be there to see how glutathione made the artist formerly skinned as black, translucent white and enviably skinny at age 49. Gov. Gwen Garcia would want to know the chemical composition of his elixir. I would too, but only for the skinny part. Now, if there was anyone among the inmates with the brains of Michael Scofield, then he would already have his body tattooed with the images of the Santo Niño, Gwen Garcia ...
