Cessna 310 crash accident prevention and the Hamilton/Nobias directional lifting diskette. Why is the Cessna 310 a killer. People who fly aircraft , love aircraft ; and , there is where the problem starts. Love is blind and beauty will kill you faster that ugly. The Cessna 310 is one beautiful well build aircraft and the performance is unsurpassed. How did Cessna do it and keep the cost down ? It all was accomplished by using a wing jig and a aircraft structure that Cessna was already using for the Cessna 172 Sky-lane and the 180. The Cessna 310 twin engine and the Cessna 180 use the same basic wing that is 36 feet long. Over the years Cessna has up graded the wing but it is still the same wing. Split Flaps are the give away and the reason the 310 has such a hot reputation. What we want to do is tame the shrew and make the 310 fly like a 180 with all the benefits and no loss of performance. We are going to add laminar flow in the form of the Hamilton/Nobias wing diskettes and judge the effect on a 1/4 scale model at a weight of 50 pounds and a Garmin GPS to track performance. We are going to have some fun. 007 Wingman....... Fly Safe and Live Long.
