Barcelona VS Inter Milan 2010 (Full Spanish Highlights) --------------------------- BARCELONA, Spain — Barcelona is determined to shake off its Champions League exit and focus on winning the league trophy, the last piece of silverware available to the defending Spanish champion. Inter Milan denied Barcelona a chance to repeat as European champion by holding on for a 3-2 aggregate victory on Wednesday in the two-legged semifinal. Barcelona holds a one-point lead over Real Madrid in the league and can retain its title by winning its last four games. But it must start with a tricky match at surging Villarreal this weekend, while Madrid plays mid-table Osasuna. Barcelona labored to a 1-0 win over Inter on Wednesday but still exited because of a 3-1 defeat in Milan. Having focused on a comeback against the Italians for the last week, Barcelona must now turn its full attention to Villarreal, which has won five of six to give itself an outside chance of finishing in the top four to qualify for the Champions League. "You're left with feelings of rage and deception," forward Pedro Rodriguez said after the European exit. "But now we've got a difficult league game and we need to win each of the games we have left. We need to raise our heads and keep going because the league is still in play." A 20th league title is all Barcelona has left following a season when it won six trophies, including the Copa del Rey and Club World Cup. But, ultimately, another defensive-oriented team ...

The first Clásico of the 2009-2010 season! Part 1/10 Six-goal Real Madrid hand Barcelona winter warning by Tim Hanlon Tim Hanlon Sat Dec 19, 9:25 pm ET MADRID (AFP) Real Madrid sent out a message of intent to all-conquering champions Barcelona with a 6-0 demolition of Real Zaragoza on Saturday. While Barcelona were away in Abu Dhabi winning the Club World Cup, their sixth trophy this year, Real closed the gap at the top of La Liga to just two points after tearing apart sorry Zaragoza. It was always going to be a tough challenge for Zaragoza's caretaker coach Jose Gay who took charge this week and it quickly turned into a nightmare with Gonzalo Higuain scoring after just three minutes. A double for Rafael Van der Vaart then followed and Higuain volleyed in a delightful shot still before half time. Cristiano Ronaldo, returning after a one-match ban, teased the Zaragoza defence before adding the fifth and substitute Karim Benzema wrapped up the scoring with 20 minutes to go against the side which has conceded most goals in the Spanish top flight. "The aim at the start was for the team to be solid in defence and then score as many goals as we could in attack and so we can be very happy at the way it has worked out," said the Real coach Manuel Pellegrini. "We can ask for more and for the team to be more consistent. Against Zaragoza we played an impressive 90 minutes and we need to be like that more often although in recent matches we have shown we are going in the right ...
The 2005-06 season of the FA Premier League began on 13 August 2005, and concluded on 7 May 2006. The season saw Chelsea FC retain their title after defeating Manchester United 30 at Stamford Bridge towards the end of April. On the same day, West Bromwich and Birmingham City were relegated, joining Sunderland in The Championship for the following season. Season Statistics Total Goals: 944 Average Goals per game: 2.48 Biggest Win: Arsenal 7 Middlesbrough 0 Season summary For the second time in two seasons José Mourinho's Chelsea triumphed in the Premier League, with a home win over closest rivals Manchester United confirming them as champions after a record setting albeit tense season. Chelsea's early season form with 15 wins out of 16 gave the champions an unequivocal head start. With Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool falling way short of their expectations before Christmas, Chelsea had effectively became 'Champions-Elect' by early 2006. However a sudden collapse in form by mid-March caused their seemingly unassailable lead of 18 points to be cut down to just 7 in two weeks due to the impressive late run of form of Manchester United who went on a ten-match winning streak scoring over 30 goals. However a shock home draw with bottom of the table Sunderland (who were evidently relegated as a result) at Old Trafford killed United's title hopes. The momentum was back with Chelsea who didn't need a second bite at the cherry with wins over Bolton, Everton and finally ...
Early Life Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro was born on 5 February 1985 in Funchal, Madeira, the youngest child of Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro and José Dinis Aveiro. His second given name, "Ronaldo," was chosen after then-US president Ronald Reagan, who was his father's favourite actor.[6] He has one older brother, Hugo, and two older sisters, Elma and Liliana Cátia.[1] - Season 2007-2008 Ronaldo's 200708 season began with a red card for a headbutt of Portsmouth player Richard Hughes during United's second match of the season, for which he was punished with a three-match ban.[23] Ronaldo said he had "learned a lot" from the experience and would not let players "provoke" him in the future.[24] After scoring the only goal in a Champions League away match against Sporting, Ronaldo also scored the injury-time winner in the return fixture as Manchester United topped their Champions League group.[25] He finished as the runner-up to Kaká for the 2007 Ballon d'Or,[26] and was third in the running for the FIFA World Player of the Year award, behind Kaká and Lionel Messi.[27] Ronaldo scored his first hat trick for Manchester United in a 60 win against Newcastle United at Old Trafford on 12 January 2008, bringing Manchester United up to the top of the Premier League table.[28] He scored his twenty-third league goal of the season in a 20 win against Reading, equalling his entire total for the 200607 season.[29] During a 11 Champions League first knockout round draw against ...
Adelaide United v Gamba Osaka Asian Champions League Final 12-Nov-2008 player.sbs.com.au theworldgame.sbs.com.au Vidmar: Gamba were too good Adelaide United coach Aurelio Vidmar admitted his side was outclassed in all facets of their Asian Champions League final hammering by Japan's Gamba Osaka. The J-League side became Asia's club champions with a 5-0 aggregate victory in the two-legged ACL final, sealing the trophy with a 2-0 win at Hindmarsh Stadium on Wednesday night after beating Adelaide 3-0 in Japan last week. It is Gamba's first ACL victory and gives Japanese clubs back-to-back tournament wins following Urawa Red Diamonds' 2007 triumph in the Asian club championship. Needing to win by four clear goals, United came into Wednesday night's match knowing they needed a miracle. But that faint flame of hope was extinguished within four minutes of kick-off, as Brazilian striker Lucas scored the first of two goals for the match. He netted a second on 15 minutes to effectively finish the match as a spectacle. United were brought undone by their rivals' clear skill advantage - the pluck which had got the Reds this far in the tournament no match for the technically gifted Japanese side's ability to play crisp pass-and-move football. "It was a real dagger to the heart that goal on four minutes," Vidmar said. "In the second half I thought we played with a lot of pride and a lot of passion and that was important. "But over the two legs, they were by far the better side." Reds ...

MORE: www.palmettoscoop.com By JOSEPH PERSON, The State Sat. Mar. 1, 2008 -- Summerville 50, Spartanburg 48 With one incredible shot, the game ended in pandemonium, confusion, and ultimately jubilation for Summerville. And agony for Spartanburg. The Green Wave won their first state championship Friday with a 50-48 victory in the Class 4A boys championship game, but not before surviving a last-second heave from the Vikings' Zycorrian Robinson that will be remembered in both communities for years. Robinson's 60-foot heave rattled through the Colonial Center rim as the buzzer sounded, giving the Vikings what appeared to be a one-point victory. As Spartanburg's players started celebrating, an official waved off the basket, ruling the shot left Robinson's hands after time expired. All three officials huddled as both teams gathered nearby and Summerville star AJ Green knelt in prayer. After consulting for about a minute, the call was confirmed. No basket. Summerville championship. Spartanburg players cried while receiving their runner-up medals and Vikings coach Doug Lowe slammed the second-place trophy on the scorer's table and walked away. For a couple of minutes, the scoreboard showed the final score as Spartanburg 51, Summerville 50. "We're always going to be state champions in the books," Green said. "They can think what they want to think, but we're going to be the state champions." With Summerville (25-3) up by two with 1.7 seconds remaining, the Green Wave's Bruce ...
A tribute to the King's Lynn Stars speedway team of 2006. These guys had a fantastic year, picking up the Premier Trophy, the KO Cup and the Premier League Championship. Not only that, they were top of the league table, 9 points clear of the second place team, the Sheffield Tigers, with 53 points. It's the first time in the club's history to have got a league title and won all three pieces of silverware. These guys really are "The Magnificent Seven".
