www.fractracker.org Dr. Conrad Volz displayed a photograph of brine- and chemical-laden natural gas wastewater pouring into a western Pennsylvania stream from a treatment facility in Josephine. "This has to be stopped," he declared. "This is a public health emergency." Volz, director of the University of Pittsburgh Center for Healthy Environments and Communities, came to Misericordia University on Monday at the request of the Gas Drilling Awareness Coalition to speak about the impact of Marcellus Shale drilling on public health. Recent revelations by The New York Times that improperly treated wastewater containing brine, radioactive material and other harmful substances is finding its way into the state's bodies of water, along with the Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority's consideration of a treatment facility in Hanover Township and two potential natural gas metering stations near the Dallas schools made the presentation timely. Two main problems with natural gas drilling is the potential for explosions and blowouts at wells, compressor stations and pipelines, and the fact that the state often allows drilling wastewater to get into the environment after inadequate treatment, according to Volz.

www.emfnews.org www.emfnews.org "Cellular phone industry spokespersons continue to assert that cell phone towers pose no health risk. Almost all scientists in this field would disagree, at the very least claiming that no such assurance can be given. There is strong evidence that electromagnetic radiation from cell phone towers is damaging to human (and animal) health. A study into the effects of a cell tower on a herd of dairy cattle was conducted by the Bavarian state government in Germany and published in 1998. The erection of the tower caused adverse health effects resulting in a measurable drop in milk yield. Relocating the cattle restored the milk yield. Moving them back to the original pasture recreated the problem. A human study (Kempten West) in 2007 measured blood levels of seratonin and melatonin (important hormones involved in brain messaging, mood, sleep regulation and immune system function) both before, and five months after, the activation of a new cell site. Twenty-five participants lived within 300 metres of the site. Substantial unfavourable changes occurred with respect to both hormones, in almost all participants. Over 100 scientists and physicians at Boston and Harvard Universities Schools of Public Health have called cell phone towers a radiation hazard. -- "Havre de Grace is a city in Harford County, Maryland, United States. Havre de Grace is named after the port city of Le Havre, France. Its name in French means "Harbor of Grace". Havre de Grace is a small city but has in recent years expanded by the process of annexing land. Housing development is moderate but steady and includes the re-building of blighted areas into middle class homes. Havre de Grace will prosper during the next few years as a result of the BRAC activities of the Department of Defense which will relocate activities from various bases to Aberdeen Proving Ground, a few miles away. This will increase the population with additional skilled and professional employed residents. Havre de Grace also claims a renovated seaplane port. There are five public schools and the oldest hospital in Harford County, Harford Memorial Hospital. Havre de Grace's location on the headwaters of the Chesapeake Bay and the outlet of the Susquehanna River makes it popular for recreation. There are marinas and service operators along the shore line. There is also a city yacht basin and park where various events occur each year. A promenade and boardwalk that runs along the shore from the Concord Point Lighthouse to the yacht basin was devastated by Hurricane Isabel and was rebuilt recently. Havre de Grace has a long history, having lost the election to be the nation's ultimate capital to Washington, DC, by only one vote. - Two railroad mainlines pass through Havre de Grace. More ...
