Question asked by Norwich NO2ID: "The government and civil service are obsessed with hoarding data about individuals on numerous databases, from the DNA of innocent people to children's details, to medical records, to peaceful protestors, to your very national identity. How do you propose to protect citizens from having their personal information used against them by governments, sold on by insiders, sold officially to the commercial sector or other third parties, uploaded and stored incorrectly, or simply lost?" Speaking Order: Stephen Emmens (UKIP Norwich South candidate), Simon Wright (Liberal Democrats Norwich South candidate), Adrian Ramsay (Green Party Norwich South candidate), Chloe Smith (Conservative Party Norwich North MP), Charles Clarke (Labour Party Norwich South MP). Apologies for shaky camera.
This is the live studio poll taken by Stewart White, during the BBC Look East Norwich North By Election Special. The question was posed to the local audience as to whether they wanted the proposed Rackheath Ecotown to go ahead. The verdict was overwhelmingly against the ecotown, with only a few for it. It also features candidates Chloe Smith, Rupert Reed, April Pond and Chris Ostrowski. First broadcast on BBC Two on 20th July, 2009.
The issue of the Rackheath 'ecotown' was discussed during a Look East Norwich North By Election Special with Stewart White. It features candidates Chloe Smith, Rupert Reed, April Pond and Chris Ostrowski discussing the topic in front of a live studio audience. It covers the principle of ecotowns, whether the 'eco' tag has any weight, how the ecotowns are sidestepping local planning legislation, and why Rackheath is not a suitable site for such a large development. It also features a studio poll of whether residents want the Rackheath Ecotown to go ahead, with the result being overwhelmingly against the ecotown. First broadcast on BBC Two on 20th July, 2009.

The fourth political party in Britain is gaining ground. Join us and together we will become the first.
Tory leader David Cameron has hailed his party's "historic" win over Labour in the Norwich North by-election. Tory candidate, Chloe Smith, overturned a comfortable Labour majority to win by more than 7000 votes. There was a swing from Labour to the Tories of 16.5%, with voters also backing smaller parties such as UKIP. Mr Cameron said the victory - only the Tories' second by-election win in a Labour seat for 27 years - showed people "want change in our country". Labour said it was "disappointing" but the vote took place in "unprecedented circumstances".
