Chris Rock's Good Hair is really a social study (a comical social study) on the relationship black women have with their hair and the entire (and quite lucrative) black industry in the US The movie opened in the US on October 9th, but only opened on October 16th in Canada. === Here's the link to the first video I did 5 days before Good Hair opened in Canada: www.youtube.com I went to see the last showing of the evening last night and I wanted to let you know if my impressions where the same as they were before seeing the movie and if I liked it or not. Chris Rock asked a lot of great questions, but there are a few I wish he had, but didn't. The topic of black women and their hair is extremely sensitive and a complex one and Good Hair bring this to life. I love the fact that Chris Rock has a number of celebrities appearances like: Nia Long, Eve, Ice T, Dr. Mia Angelou, Reverend Al Sharpton, Reven Simone, Alicia Bridges who has Alopecia and who is bald, Vibez hair salon Atlanta Jason Griggers, Melissa Ford Video Vixen, Stacey London. Find out if I recommend to see or pass on Chris Rock's Good Hair. www.eatsmartagesmart.com Chris Rock has crossed borders with his new documentary Good Hair. African American and black women in the US have had violent reactions to this new documentary revealing all the ins and outs of the lucrative weave, extension, wig and hair piece business, but many black women feel Chris Rock has sold them short. Here in Canada, the documentary Good Hair opens one week later on Friday, October 16th in a handful of cities, but the reaction from black women (with and without extensions is already quite violent. This is my reaction to Good Hair before seeing is and I will do another video when it hit theater on Friday. Some of the celebrities featured in the movie include: Nia Long, Eve, Ice T, Dr. Mia Angelou, Reverend Al Sharpton, Reven Simone, Alicia Bridges who has Alopecia and who is bald, Vibez hair salon Atlanta Jason Griggers, Melissa Ford Video Vixen, Stacey London (chris rock) (chris rock on oprah) (chris rock on the view) (chris rock good hair) (chris rock good hair documentary) (chris rock good hair reaction) (chris rock african american women) (chris rock black hair industry) (chris rock good hair backlash)
My Opinion on the Interview with Chris Rock on Oprah (Good Hair)
Good hair, bad hair, no hair... Who cares?? The truth is; a lot of people care about hair as we can see from Chris Rock's new movie. I was one of those people and I hid the fact that I was losing my hair for so long. I finally let go and moved on with m life and here's what I have to say!! :-)
Last night I saw Chris Rock's documentary "Good Hair" which was primarily about black women's hair. After watching that film, now more than ever I think sistas need to put down the weave, the relaxers and the straightening combs and go natural. Chris Rock has a new film called GOOD HAIR, which discusses the culture of hair within the African-American community. The film is a funny and informative snapshot of the subject. Matt decided to bring an African-American baby doll to see what, if any, stereotypes he could dispel. Writing: Annie Johnson (awesome maximo comedy writer)

A question from Chris Rocks daughter jumpstarted the making of Good Hair, but the idea for a documentary about the culture of black hair actually took root in Rocks head about 15 years ago while doing a stand-up gig in Atlanta. He noticed his hotel was packed with people, and everyone seemed to be there for the same reason: the Bronner Bros. Hair Show. Hed never heard of it, but to the over 100000 attendees its a yearly tradition stretching back to the early 50s, with hairstylists, barbers, and hair fanatics from all over the world coming together to discover whats new, best, and different in black hair care. It was a massive gathering, and Rock couldnt believe what a passionate, colorful crowd they were. In short, Rock discovered what a big crazy business black hair was. I've been around hairdressers my whole life, he says, but I'd never seen anything like this it was just a whole another vibe. So 15 years ago, I had the idea this would make a great film. The idea laid dormant until years later when Rocks daughter asked about her bad hair. He was astonished. I tell my daughters I love them 70 times a day, he says. I hug them and I kiss them I'm that kind of dad. To hear my daughter did not like something about herself when I'm telling her she's beautiful every single minute of the day really had me thinking about hair again. She was only five at the time, he continues, and she was already having concerns about her hair shes already having hair envy. I felt I needed to ...

An audience member asks Oprah if she would ever cut off all her hair to start a movement -- watch what Oprah has to say about that!
For the past 9 months I have been on a personal hair journey. My hair was shoulder length and relaxed, then I cut it into a bob. From there I did the Rhiana look, long on one side and short on the other. Next I cut my hair into a short spiky style and finally the big chop! It was a very rewarding experience. This is the 4th time I have cut my hair all the way off...and I love it.....I am growing my hair into locs now and I'm looking forward to this new experience with my hair.
I just heard that Oprah is going to be bringing Chris Rock on her show to talk about his new movie "Good Hair" which explores the ethnic community and additional hair. I am ecstatic because I have been writing in to Oprah for 10+ years asking her to do a show that explores the additional hair market! I don't think that white women and their hair should be left out of the conversation, though. There is an interesting marriage within the power of hair. Oprah, let's talk about it!

In a rally yesterday, Sen. Obama criticized Sen. McCain's Health Care plan. Most intriguing, however, was Sen. Obama's choice of words. In his speech, Obama utilized a catch-phrase popularized by Chris Rock's "Head Of State" character, Mays Gilliam. "That ain't right," Sen. Obama remarked, as he tore apart McCain's unremarkable Health Care tax proposals. Watch the eerie similarity to Mays Gilliam from "Head Of State."
