I just can't get this great tune out of my head, plus being so very bored last night resulted in this video. The original hit song is called "Alors on Danse" - The greatest hit song of summer 2010. Let's see if this one reaches Code Monkey fame... Our genetic code is our engineering skills. They have made us what we are today. With them, we are working on the car of tomorrow. The genetic code web special shows what constitutes our genetic code through concrete numerical examples. Even if these numbers only highlight a single building block of our DNA, as a whole they still stand for the unmistakable principle that makes every Porsche unique. This week in the Tech Dump Stuart is joined by a Steve who's been beavering away to hack into the source code for the entire universe: the fabled code that unlocks God's keys to creation. With omnipotent power at their fingertips Ashen and Steve decide to use it in the least responsible way possible. And if that wasn't enough, like some computer literate Nostradamus, Stuart wildly guesses the future of technology in Tech Predictions.
www.youtube.com Click this to watch Creepy Doll (World of Warcraft Machinima)! Code Monkey (World of Warcraft Machinima) This is a music video about the life of the common lowlands code monkey. Jonathan Coulton is a singer/songwriter who releases his songs via the Creative Commons license, which enables projects such as this video. Through his Thing A Week podcast, Jonathan has put out a clever, creative song like this one every week for a year. Mike Spiff Booth is a Program Manager at Adobe who though this great song really deserved a video. Before you ask, since apes, goblins, and night elf receptionists don't tend to interact much in the wild, I couldn't only use captured game footage to make this video. Every frame of this video was composited together by hand using images captured from the WoW Model Viewer, WoW Map Viewer, and the World of Warcraft game itself. No monkeys were harmed in the making of this film. Please visit www.spiffworld.com for more information about my videos, including info about how I make them. New for 2009, this Anime Music video features video footage from Code Geass set to the song "You Know My Name" by Chris Cornell, also recognized as the theme song from Casino Royale. This is primarily a straight cut video, punctuated with (a few) smash zooms on dramatic beats. There wasnt any heavily manipulation of the video source. This version of the song was from iTunes, there are several different versions and this is the one I prefer. The video was created using Final Cut Pro Studio on a MacBook Pro. The video has been a finalist at Anime Expo, Fanime, AnimeNext & Anime Evolution. It won "Best Action" at Otakon 2009.
Weird Hexadecimal Code and Possible Warning in Telegraphs Operation Blackjack Part 5 Remixx World Wednesday, June 17, 2009 www.prisonplanet.com I was listening to the Jason Bermas The Infowarrior show tonight and one of his callers had an interesting comment about a code in the controversial multi-part London Telegraph Operation Blackjack art series. The Blackjack series is controversial, because it has no real artistic merit except for perhaps being a blueprint for the introduction of global government.

www.pbs.org - The ancient Maya civilization of Central America left behind a riddle: an intricate and mysterious hieroglyphic script carved on stone monuments and painted on pottery and bark books. Because the invading Spanish suppressed nearly all knowledge of how the script worked, unlocking its meaning posed one of archaeology's fiercest challenges. Until now.
Google Tech Talks Web Exponents presented by Steve Souders March 5, 2009 blog post: google-code-updates.blogspot.com This is the second talk based on Steve's next book, Even Faster Web Sites, the follows-up to High Performance Web Sites. The first talk presented three new best practices: Split the Initial Payload, Load Scripts Without Blocking, and Don't Scatter Inline Scripts. The most important of these is loading external scripts without blocking other downloads and preventing page rendering. One complication is this may introduce undefined symbol errors if inlined code uses symbols from the external scripts. Luckily, there are several techniques to workaround this problem. That and other topics will be covered in this presentation of three more best practices: * Coupling Asynchronous Scripts * Use Iframes Sparingly * Flush the Document Early Speaker: Steve Souders Steve Souders works at Google on web performance and open source initiatives, and previously served as the Chief Performance Yahoo!. He also co-founded Helix Systems and CoolSync, and worked at General Magic, WhoWhere?, and Lycos. Steve is the creator of YSlow, the performance analysis extension to Firebug, which has over 700000 downloads. He serves as co-chair of Velocity, the web performance and operations conference from OReilly, and is co-founder of the Firebug Working Group. Code Geass Season 1 - STAGE 01 - The Day a New Demon Was Born - English Audio Dub Uncensored Synopsis: Seven years passed since Japan lost the war against the Britannia Empire and became its territory. The country name was stripped away and renamed to Area 11. Lelouch was spending an inactive life while attending the school for Britannians, the Ashford Academy. The tragic incidents he experienced during war made him resent Britannia, but he couldnt do anything about it. All he could do was beat Britannians in chess to release his anger. One day Lelouch is involved in a battle between terrorists and the Britannian Forces. Taken to the underground area of Shinjuku Ghetto, he meets his old friend Suzaku Kururugi. Although Suzaku is an Eleven, he has joined the Britannian Forces as an Honorary Britannian. The two enjoy their reunion, but tragedy comes with the appearance of a girl. Suzaku is shot by the Britannian Forces when he tries to protect the girl and Lelouch. As Lelouch is devastated over the death of his friend, the girl gives Lelouch a power. That power was the ability to manipulate people as he pleases.

Google Tech Talks November 20, 2008 ABSTRACT Is your code full of if statements? Switch statements? Do you have the same switch statement in various places? When you make changes do you find yourself making the same change to the same if/switch in several places? Did you ever forget one? This talk will discuss approaches to using Object Oriented techniques to remove many of those conditionals. The result is cleaner, tighter, better designed code that's easier to test, understand and maintain. Speaker: Misko Hevery

Cracking the Maya Code: The story behind the centuries-long decipherment of ancient Maya hieroglyphs Part 1 The ancient Maya civilization of Central America left behind an intricate and mysterious hieroglyphic script, carved on monuments, painted on pottery, and drawn in handmade bark-paper books. For centuries, scholars considered it too complex ever to understand—until recently, when an ingenious series of breakthroughs finally cracked the code and unleashed a torrent of new insights into the Mayas' turbulent past. For the first time, NOVA presents the epic inside story of how the decoding was done—traveling to the remote jungles of southern Mexico and Central America to investigate how the code was broken and what Maya writings now reveal.

Google Tech Talks March, 7 2008 ABSTRACT Learning to code has become both more important and more complicated in the last decade. We need to make it attractive and easy again. Most western countries currently experience a shortage of skilled computing professionals in the employment market. We have seen a similar problem in the 1990s, but this time the situation is different: While the problem in the 90s was university capacity (we just couldn't educate enough people quickly enough), this time around it is enrolment: Universities have the capacity, but not enough students sign up to study technical, computing related subjects, such as computer science or software engineering. The real problem lies before university: at school age, students decide against computing as a subject, because it is perceived as geeky, tedious, intellectually not challenging, and most of all boring. At the same time, programming in schools is on a sharp decline. We need to counter this trend by bringing programming back into schools, and make it an engaging, challenging, relevant and enjoyable activity. To be successful, the public sector, academia and business should work together to make this happen. At the University of Kent, we have developed two successful development environments, named BlueJ and Greenfoot, and educational material to address these challenges. In this presentation, we will discuss both, with the main focus on Greenfoot, a system for beginners to learn Java programming ...
