This video was taken on my Nokia N95 cell phone during a vacation in October 2008, it shows spawning salmon in Slesse Creek which is a feeder stream off the Chilliwack river near Sardis BC western Canada. It is a tremendous sight to witness so many large wild salmon (12 - 30 lb range) migrating up such a small river. Ireland unfortunately has no such sights left, due mainly to the mismanagement for many decades by the idiots that were employed by the fisheries conservancy board here. I hope they hang their heads in shame when they see videos like this, to remind them of what they once had.

Sea Lions make their home in California. In the spring, some males travel north and come to the Columbia River to feed. According to studies, the sea lions 0.4 to 4% of the salmon population. Fisherman eat 14% of the salmon. And Oregon Fish and Wildlife has been increasing the quota for the amount of salmon that fisherman can catch. On a trip from Campbell River, British Columbia with Discovery Marine Safaris we went up to Bute Inlet on the Mainland and saw so many grizzly bears along the river's edge as they were looking for salmon to feed on.

According to RCW 40.5.4861, possessing an animal which is listed as an endangered species (such as the Macrochelys temminckii [snapping turtle]) is a crime punishable by a minimum of 3 years in prison and fines totaling $3742 in the State of Washington.* good luck with that. oh and by the way- thats all a lie. it is not a crime to have them as pets because they are not on the endangered species list (or even on the list of animals which they are concerned will become endangered anytime soon). also, they have been found in the Columbia river basin meaning that they naturally inhabit Washington so they are not illegal. they are however illegal in the state of California.
