If you are a boss who wants to do great work, what can you do about it? Good Boss, Bad Boss is devoted to answering that question. Stanford Professor Robert Sutton weaves together the best psychological and management research with compelling stories and cases to reveal the mindset and moves of the best (and worst) bosses. This book was inspired by the deluge of emails, research, phone calls, and conversations that Dr. Sutton experienced after publishing his blockbuster bestseller "The No Asshole Rule." He realized that most of these stories and studies swirled around a central figure in every workplace: THE BOSS. Sutton discovered that most bosses -- and their followers -- wanted a lot more than just a jerk-free workplace. They aspired to become (or work for) an all-around great boss, with the skill and grit to inspire great work, commitment, and dignity among their charges.

Tony Hsieh visits Google in Mountain View to talk about his new book - Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion, and Purpose. The visionary CEO of Zappos explains how an emphasis on corporate culture can lead to unprecedented success. Pay new employees $2000 to quit. Make customer service the entire company, not just a department. Focus on company culture as the #1 priority. Apply research from the science of happiness to running a business. Help employees grow both personally and professionally. Seek to change the world. Oh, and make money too. Sound crazy? It's all standard operating procedure at Zappos.com, the online retailer that's doing over $1 billion in gross merchandise sales every year. In 1999, Tony Hsieh (pronounced Shay) sold LinkExchange, the company he co-founded, to Microsoft for $265 million. He then joined Zappos as an adviser and investor, and eventually became CEO. In 2009, Zappos was listed as one of Fortune magazine's top 25 companies to work for, and was acquired by Amazon later that year in a deal valued at over $1.2 billion on the day of closing. In his first book, Tony shares the different business lessons he learned in life, from a lemonade stand and pizza business through LinkExchange, Zappos, and more. Ultimately, he shows how using happiness as a framework can produce profits, passion, and purpose both in business and in life.
All leaders are marketers at heart, striving to influence behaviour and win hearts and minds. In this session we look beyond the gloss at the nuts and bolts of great communication, to understand what works (and what doesn't) and how this is changing in today's media-literate world. What can business leaders learn from these masters of persuasion - in terms of getting noticed, communicating ideas, and sparking creativity? I'm sorry I didn't post like, way earlier, but I had a really productive day. I got a super cute dress and matching shoes for my school's formal dance coming up, and I finished a whole Spanish project, and got some of my English project worked on. (But the English project is nowhere close to done.) But I LOVE how many people commented! That was amazing, and you guys make me laugh, and smile, and just happy. :DI was thrilled. Can you maybe do it again? Oh, PS A lot of you said how the song had a great effect on the sadness, so I tried to pick another sad song. But there are only so many that actually apply. At all. You don't have to listen to it if you don't want. Make up your own song for the mood, if you want. :D Joe's POV This pain is unbearable. How can Nick say that he loves me, and then snap my heart like a twig, like it meant nothing, like our love meant nothing? Does he realize the hell he's going to put me through? He made me feel like he really needed me, and wanted me, and loved me, and then just threw me away like a used tissue. I love him so much, but his love is like a drug. It's amazing while it's real, but when the good feeling goes away, it makes you feel worthless. Miley's POV (Change it up for a bit.) My poor Nicky. His heart was already broken. It's not like he wanted to leave Joe. Love is truly a battle, and you can't escape without breaking. No one can ever win. I drove on, with Nick silently trembling. We made it to Demi's house, and I coaxed him to ...

Placing Your Zero Right!!! Zero, being the most valuable numeric, need to be placed aptly- Gaurav continued his Gyan. Sir, you know, prefixing zero with any numeric breeds same result while suffixing it has a multiplier effect like zero b4 one equals one and zero after one makes it ten- He said passionately, as if he is the only one on the earth who discovered this logic. And time and again you fall in the same trap ,and seriously let me tell you, the day you can strategically able to correct the locus of zero in life you would ....oh! its 10 pm ...lets go for dinner Gaurav said and turned to washroom immediately. Thank God, the bugger finally shut his mouth on the pretext of food- I whispered and wore my shoes. We were ready to explore the restaurants of Bangalore tonight. Gaurav was driving purposefully long to take me to the best restaurant of Bangalore and meanwhile I just remembered that we are meeting after almost 5 yrs.In last five years we hardly retained communication. But, the beauty of long term past intimate relation in life is - when distance minimizes the affection grows multifold and Gauravs reaction was no exception to this .The day I landed Bangalore ,he is with me .I had a plan to stay here for 10 days .Gaurav was one among my two best juniors in Hyderabad. As a matter of fact, out of four years of my stay in Hyderabad we three me and my two best juniors-Gaurav and Manish Jha were very close. Though I had a strong penchant for both of them but Manish Jha ...
