On Wednesday 23rd June 2010, I made my first solo flight in a Robin 2160 Lycoming 165bhp fixed propeller aircraft, from Bodmin Airfield, winds were coming from 290' at 5 knots, and was very warm and sunny. At 15.00 hours I checked out the aircraft, a Robin 2160 registration G-OCFC to make ready for flight, and taxied to the fuel bay to refuel. Put in three quarters of a tank of Avgas. Joined by flight instructor Pete Sumner, we got ourselves strapped in, started engines after calling 'CLEAR PROP' and brought the bird to life. Set the radio to Bodmin frequency 122.5mhz and carried out a radio check, obtained the aerodrome QFE of 1002 millibars, and told we were using runway 31 left hand circuit. Taxied onto the grass and carried out pre take off power checks into wind, all was satisfactory, so we continued to taxi to line up with runway 31. Called G-FC Lining Up and turned onto the runway after having a good look out. Lined up with the runway centre line, checked Direction indicator and adjusted to 310' and also checked compass, and then applied full power, and called G-FC Rolling. I waited until I had 65 knots indicated airspeed then gently pointed the bird to the skies. a little right rudder was needed to keep her straight and we climbed away, flaps up at 400ft, and a 15' bank turn to the left still climbing at 500ft to 220'. Climbed to 800ft the lowered the nose to maintain straight and level flight and reduced the power to 2200rpm. Then made a 30' bank level turn to ...
