December 1, 1954 www.amazon.com Watch the full program: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com This Is Your Life is an American television documentary series broadcast on NBC, originally hosted by its producer, Ralph Edwards from 1952 to 1961. In the show, the host surprises a guest, and proceeds to take them through their life in front of an audience including friends and family. Edwards revived the show in 1971-72, while Joseph Campanella hosted a version in 1983. Edwards returned for some specials in the late 1980s, before his death in 2005. The show originated as a radio show on NBC Radio airing from 1948 to 1952. Other versions of the television show have also been made in Britain from 1955, as well as in Australia, in New Zealand and in Scandinavia. The format of the show consisted of the host, who would surprise someone (usually a celebrity or public figure, occasionally an ordinary citizen) and, consulting his "red book", conduct a biography of the subject in a television studio. The subject would be presented with family members and old friends, and reunited with old acquaintances. The 1950s edition of the show was aired live before a theater audience. The celebrity guests were ambushed by Ralph Edwards and confronted by the microphone and cameras. They made their way to the studio during the first commercial break. Most of the honorees quickly got over their initial shock and enjoyed meeting bygone friends again, as with Don DeFore on May 6, 1953. Pioneer movie producer ...

Buy full audiobook: www.qksrv.net She just wouldn't get up - and with that simple, courageous act Rosa Parks struck a blow against injustice. Parks showed what one person, without guns or violence, could do to change the course of history forever. Nelson Mandela claimed "she is who inspired us...to be fearless when facing our oppressors." As a volunteer secretary for the NAACP, Parks chronicled racial injustices and fought for desegregation. Then, on December 1, 1955, she made a stand on a Montgomery, Alabama bus: she refused to relinquish her seat for a white man. Her arrest mobilized the black community for a citywide bus boycott that led to a landmark Supreme Court decision. Award-winning author Ruth Ashby beautifully conveys Park's dignity and determination.
Louis Allen "Lou" Rawls (December 1, 1933 -- January 6, 2006) Was an American soul, jazz, and blues singer. He was known for his smooth vocal style: Frank Sinatra once said that Rawls had "the classiest singing and silkiest chops in the singing game". Rawls released more than 70 albums, sold more than 40 million records, appeared as an actor in motion pictures and on television, and voiced-over many cartoons. Rawls is the subject of an upcoming biopic, tentatively titled Love Is a Hurtin' Thing: The Lou Rawls Story. Rawls' son, Lou Rawls Jr., is the author of the script. Rawls will reportedly be portrayed by the actor Isaiah Washington. Rawls' favorite expression was "Yeah buddy!" Rawls was born on December 1, 1933 in Chicago and raised by his grandmother in the Ida B. Wells projects on the city's South Side. He began singing in the Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church choir at the age of seven and later sang with local groups through which he met future music stars Sam Cooke, who was nearly three years older than Rawls, and Curtis Mayfield. After graduating from Chicago's Dunbar Vocational Career Academy, he sang briefly with Cooke in the Teenage Kings of Harmony, a local gospel group, and then with the Holy Wonders. In 1951, Rawls replaced Cooke in the Highway QC's after Cooke departed to join The Soul Stirrers in Los Angeles. Rawls was soon recruited by the Chosen Gospel Singers and himself moved to Los Angeles, where he subsequently joined the Pilgrim Travelers. In 1955 ...
Grant Elliot accidentally hits Officer Len Dorsey when he panics during a routine traffic stop. Grant takes the injured officer to the hospital, but cannot explain why there were numerous auto parts in the back of his truck. He later learns that his father Charles has been stealing auto accessories and selling them to onetime petty thief Ralph Yates for quick cash. Charles asks Grant to deny the thefts, and implies that the boy should take responsibility for them if need be to protect the family. Dan Mathews does not believe Grant is guilty of the thefts, so he and Sergeant Betts launch a determined investigation to expose Charles as a pusillanimous felon who would ask his own son to take the blame for his crimes. 5 December 1955 (Season 1, Episode 10)

The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a political and social protest campaign started in 1955 in Montgomery, Alabama, USA, intended to oppose the city's policy of racial segregation on its public transit system. Many historically significant figures of the civil rights movement were involved in the boycott, including Martin Luther King, Jr., Ralph Abernathy, and others, as listed below. The boycott resulted in a crippling financial deficit for the Montgomery public transit system, because the city's black population who were the drivers of the boycott were also the bulk of the system's ridership. The ensuing struggle lasted from December 1, 1955, when Rosa Parks, an African American woman, was arrested for refusing to surrender her seat to a white person, to December 20, 1956 when a federal ruling took effect, and led to a United States Supreme Court decision that declared the Alabama and Montgomery laws requiring segregated buses to be unconstitutional.[
In Montgomery, Alabama, Rosa Parks is jailed for refusing to give up her seat on a public bus to a white man, a violation of the city's racial segregation laws. Shop BIO today! bit.ly

This episode has excellent production values and one of the worst commercials of all time. Also one of the few episodes of this series with an actual guest star. Main Singers are Dorothy Collins, Snooky Lanson, Russell Arms, and Gisele MacKenzie. The songs performed by the show cast on this episode are: "Deck the Halls" - The Cast Members "Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing" Jill Corey "Autumn Leaves" Andra McLaughlin (figure skater) "Memories Are Made of This" Snooky Lanson "Love and Marriage" Russell Arms "Moments to Remember" Dorothy Collins "He" - Gisele MacKenzie "Christmas Medley" Raymond Scott "Sixteen Tons" - Snooky Lanson Oh Holy Night - Dorothy Collins Generally, "Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing", "Memories Are Made of This" and "Moments to Remember" come across the best, while a version of "Sixteen Tones" reminds us just how poor Snooky Lanson could be when he tried to sing anything even vaguely related to rock'n'roll.

The smallpox vaccine helps the body develop immunity to smallpox. The vaccine is made from a virus called vaccinia which is a pox-type virus related to smallpox. The smallpox vaccine contains the live vaccinia virus—not dead virus like many other vaccines. For that reason, the vaccination site must be cared for carefully to prevent the virus from spreading. Also, the vaccine can have side effects. In the past, about 1000 people for every 1 million people vaccinated for the first time experienced reactions that, while not life-threatening, were serious. These reactions included a toxic or allergic reaction at the site of the vaccination (erythema multiforme), spread of the vaccinia virus to other parts of the body and to other individuals (inadvertent inoculation), and spread of the vaccinia virus to other parts of the body through the blood (generalized vaccinia). These types of reactions may require medical attention. In the past, between 14 and 52 people out of every 1 million people vaccinated for the first time experienced potentially life-threatening reactions to the vaccine. Based on past experience, it is estimated that 1 or 2 people in 1 million who receive the vaccine may die as a result. Routine smallpox vaccinations were discontinued among US children in 1972, and among US healthcare workers in 1976 after the disease was eradicated in the United States and because of the side effects. Until recently, the US government provided the vaccine only to a few hundred ...

The Stooges were commonly known by their first names: "Larry, Moe, and Curly" and "Moe, Larry, and Shemp," among other lineups. The act originally featured Moe Howard, brother Shemp Howard and longtime friend Larry Fine. Shemp was later replaced by brother Curly Howard. When Curly suffered a debilitating stroke in 1946, Shemp rejoined the act. After Shemp's death in 1955, he was replaced by bald-headed comedian Joe Besser, after the use of stuntman Joe Palma to record several "Shemp" shorts after his death. Eventually Joe "Curly-Joe" DeRita (born Joseph Wardell) would replace him. After Larry suffered a serious stroke in 1970 he was unable to continue performing. Emil Sitka, a longtime actor in Stooge comedies, was contracted to replace Larry—but no film was ever made with him in the role, although publicity photographs exist of him with his hair combed similarly to Larry's, posing with Moe and Curly-Joe (see below). However, Larry's paralyzing stroke in 1970 effectively marked the end of the act. He died in January 1975. Moe died of cancer a few months later.
