All could be a #1 starter on another team When they pitched, a 2-1 or a 1-0 Lead was HUGE. If the braves could score a run, the game was over! Maddux, Glavine, Smotlz Career Statistics Wins 873, ERA 3.34, Strikeouts: 9062, Complete Games: 218, Shutouts: 76, Cy Young Awards: 7 Greg Maddux (born April 14, 1966) He was the first pitcher in major league history to win the Cy Young Award for four consecutive years (1992--1995), a feat matched only by Randy Johnson (1999--2002). During those four consecutive seasons, Maddux had a 75-29 record with a 1.98 ERA, while allowing less than one runner per inning. Maddux is the only pitcher in MLB history to win at least 15 games for 17 straight seasons. In addition, he holds the record for most Gold Gloves with eighteen. A superb control pitcher, Maddux won more games during the 1990s than any other pitcher, and is 8th on the all-time career wins list, with 355. Since the start of the post-1920 live-ball era, only Warren Spahn (363) recorded more career wins than Maddux. He is one of only 10 pitchers ever to achieve both 300 wins and 3000 strikeouts. Career Statistics Wins 355, ERA 3.16, Strikeouts: 3371, Complete Games: 109, Shutouts: 35, Cy Young Awards: 4 Tom Glavine (born March 25, 1966) He is a five-time 20-game winner and two-time Cy Young Award winner, and one of only 24 pitchers (4th place all time among left-handers) in major league history to earn 300 career wins. Career Statistics Wins 305, ERA 3.54, Strikeouts: 2607 ...

The Oakland Athletics are a Major League Baseball team based in Oakland, California. The Athletics are a member of the Western Division of Major League Baseball's American League. From 1968 to the present, the Athletics have played in the Oakland Coliseum. The "Athletics" name originates from the late 19th century "athletic clubs", specifically the Athletic (Baseball Club) of Philadelphia. They are most prominently nicknamed "the A's", in reference to the Gothic script "A", a trademark of the team and the old Athletics of Philadelphia. This has gained very prominent use, and in some circles is used more frequently than the full "Athletics" name. They are also known as "the White Elephants" or simply "the Elephants", in reference to then New York Giants' manager John McGraw's calling the team a "white elephant". This was embraced by the team, who then made a white elephant the team's mascot, and often incorporated it into the logo or sleeve patches. During the team's 1970s heyday, management often referred to the team as The Swingin' A's, referencing both their prodigious power and to connect the team with the growing disco culture. One of the American League's eight charter franchises, the club was founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1901 as the Philadelphia Athletics. The team had some prominent success in Philadelphia, winning 3 of 4 World Series from 1910 to 1914 (the "First Dynasty") and two in a row in 1929 and 1930 (the "Second Dynasty"). The team's owner and ...

The Boston Red Sox and Red Sox Foundation partnered up with BHCHP in order to support our constant need for socks! From July 17th -- 18th, we were able to collect over 3000 pairs of socks from Red Sox Nation! Why Socks? Access to shoes and socks is often limited for the homeless men and women living in shelters and on the streets. Common infections such as athlete's foot thrive when damp socks are worn for days or weeks at a time. Frostbite is common in colder months, sometimes resulting in toe amputations. The best way to prevent such conditions is to keep feet clean and dry -- very difficult if you spend your days outside. (2010) Find out how you can help support our nonprofit program! Live performance of "Waiting" for string quartet + trumpet @ Amnesia- Mission District, San Francisco. April 13, 2008. Filmed by JK Productions. watch in HD!!!!! On trumpet: Dennis Eckersley
I had to rewind this and record it off my TV with a point & shoot camera, so you'll have to excuse the quality of the clip, but don't worry I really don't think it compromises the chilling awesomeness of Dennis Eckersley and his talented vocals. Embarrassing moments are never fun, that is unless they come at the expense of someone else. After watching the post game show at the end of last nights Sox/Rays playoff game I was reminded of this. acornking.blogspot.com

MLB All Star Parade in NYC. "The Yankees need you. They need another pitcher".
This was not an easy thing to do. There are sooo many players that could have fit in just as easily as the one I have in there. Here are the players, along with the reasons I chose them: Sandy Koufax: The best pitcher of all time in my opinion. No one had a lower ERA at any time from 1961-1966. His career was cut short due to a bum elbow. Cy Young: All-time leader in wins and has the award for best pitcher named after him. Nuff said. Bob Gibson: Dominance in 1964 World Series was the reason Major League Baseball lowered the mound. Satchel Paige: Amazing in the Negro Leagues and even pitched a major league game at age 59. Tom Seaver: Awesome career with the Mets included 300 wins, a World Series title, and 3 Cy Youngs. Johnny Bench: Was the catcher that powered the Big Red Machine, the best team of the 70's. Won 2 World Series, 2 MVPs and 10 Gold Gloves. Lou Gehrig: The Iron Horse batted cleanup for the amazing Yanks of the 20's and 30's. Won 2 MVPs and was a 7-time All-star. Also hit for an amazing .340 career batting average. Pete Rose: All time leader in hits with over 4000. Mike Schmidt: Great thirdbaseman won 3 MVP awards. 12- time all-star and 10 gold gloves. Cal Ripken, Jr: Had 400+ Homeruns, 3000+ hits, 2 MVP awards, and a World Series ring. Ted Williams: Probably the best natural hitter of all time, the last one to hit .400 in a season. Willie Mays: Member of the 3000 hit/600 homerun club and an awesome defender, too. Roberto Clemente: Able to compile 3000 hits ...
