Iowa WR Marvin McNutt had a big game against Michigan. Here, he discusses the big career of teammate Derrell Johnson-Koulianos, who set Iowa's career receiving yards record with 2275 yards, breaking Tim Dwight's record of 2271.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) Ricky Stanzi threw his third touchdown pass to Derrell Johnson-Koulianos early in the fourth quarter and Michael Meyer kicked a 30-yard field goal with 2:53 left, helping No. 15 Iowa hold off Michigan for a 38-28 win Saturday.
Here the topic is senior WR Derrell Johnson-Koulianos and the core group of receivers, which has been a more-than solid group this season.
Apparently Ferentz told DJK he could have face time with the cameras or play time on the field. DJK is doing his talking on the field.
WR Derrell Johnson-Koulianos is a topic here, what makes him successful and some more media stuff. Ricky Stanzi is a topic and kicker Mike Meyer has assumed the field goal duties, at least for now.
Penn State coach Joe Paterno, PSU's discipline and Iowa WR Derrell Johnson-Koulianos are topics here.

HawkeyeInsider.com - Derrell Johnson-Koulianos
Derrell Johnson-Koulianos is the most engaging student athlete I have ever interviewed. He probably won't be as free spirited in an interview again during his Iowa career as he was at the 2010 media day. Enjoy!
Created on August 6, 2010 using FlipShare.
Hawkeye senior talks about what it's like being in the dog house.
The loquacious wideout talks about the "Iowa Way." But the money quote here is DJK's take on the huddle before the final play at Michigan State. Yes, he wanted the ball and, yes, there were some bleeps at that moment. "I don't think there was a time I wanted the ball more. I was (bleeped) off." Also, DJK has a chance to set records, receiving yards and receptions. He didn't soft pedal it. The dude wants the records. He wants the ball and wants the records.
The sophomore talks about what's ahead for him this season. He has no set idea on numbers, he just wants to "work his butt off." He also talked about coming up under a pretty veteran group of receivers. Also, he believes the shot that Derrell Johnson-Koulianos has at Iowa's receptions and receiving yardage records is a very big deal.
Here's the money one. Coach Ferentz talks about the sometimes story relationship with wide receiver Derrell Johnson-Koulianos. Good stuff here. "I'm the dad in this one. He's in my house. What I say goes."

A little refresher for those of you who forgot DJK's last 3 years as a Hawkeye. Be ready for 2010.

I jumped in the autographs line with Iowa QB Ricky Stanzi, DT Karl Klug and WR Derrell Johnson-Koulianos. So, you want to be a rock-n-roll star?
This is kind of a blah interview until WR Derrell Johnson-Koulianos brings a $5 bill for the senior QB to sign. It was kids day and autographs were signed. DJK slipped in, "By the way, I'm always open."

I love, I love my team. Dreams are made. Dreams are broken. The Iowa Hawkeyes shattered all expectations. Originally uploaded: October 25, 2009. They kept the dream alive and won against the Michigan State Spartans. It was epic. Its captured here. Man, I love my Hawkeyes. Stanzi has been talked about being UP and DOWN all year, well it don't matter. He is CLUTCH. and McNutt came out of nowhere to do the impossible! A well-coached team Kirk Ferentz! (complete numbness spreads throughout the body of every hawkeye fan, living in the epic moment) 12) Celebration of history breaking, and more utter shock and awe at what just occured. Unreal. This is what happens when you have faith in your team. If you booed Stanzi during the course of this, consider yourself a faux hawkeye fan. This was so good. Go Hawks! The Hawkeyes answered Ohio State's Saine's touchdown quickly as Derrell Johnson-Koulianos returned the ensuing kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown. DJKs 99-yarder at Ohio State ended a streak of 242 kick returns without a TD. Then, after Barclay missed a 47-yard field goal, freshman quarterback James Vandenberg took Iowa on a 70-yard march that ended with a game-tying 10-yard scoring pass to Marvin McNutt with 2:42 remaining. Ohio State then ran five plays and punted it back to the Hawkeyes, who opted to run out the final 52 seconds and play for overtime. Iowa had the ball first in the overtime, but Adam Robinson lost 6 yards on second down and Vandenberg was sacked for a loss of 10 by Doug Worthington on third down. The freshman quarterback threw a Hail Mary pass into the end zone that was intercepted on fourth down. "At that point we were thinking if they can do it, we can do it," Angerer said.
DJK gives the ref some lovin' during the Orange Bowl. He received favorable treatment for the remainder of the game.
The Iowa wide receiver talks about the pain in his hip and knee after a second-quarter injury. Early indications are that it's not serious, but he had to conduct interviews while sitting down. He was having a great game until he got hurt, catching four passes for 63 yards. He also talks about the records that might be out there for him next season. -- Marc Morehouse/Gazette
Daily Iowan TV Sports' Rob Miller has all the coverage from the 2010 Orange Bowl in Miami, FL. The #10 Iowa Hawkeyes and the #9 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will face off on Tuesday night at 8:00 pm, but both teams looked ready to take the field on Sunday.

Hawkeye WR talks about reaching 10 wins.
The junior wide receiver talks about how annoying Iowa's offensive performance was Saturday. The Hawkeyes were held to seven three-and-outs and several season lows. But, they won. DJK isn't worried about the bowl destination. He's more interested in a good matchup and the actual game. -- Marc Morehouse/Gazette online

Iowa WR Derrell Johnson-Koulianos talks about the kick return for the TD, which brought Iowa back from the dead with 10:56 left in the fourth quarter. He also talks about the effort and preparation of freshman quarterback James Vandenberg. He references a certain body part that signifies guts but isn't guts. By the way, that was Iowa first kick return for a score in 242 kicks. -- Marc Morehouse/Gazette online
