This is undoubtedly the most beautiful lullaby in Sinhala cinema and sung none other than the Silver screen queen Rukmani Devi. I have not come across any other lullaby which could outmatch this particular track from Rukmani. Rukmani Devi was one of the rarest actresses who did acting and singing simultaneously with so much ease and exceptional dedication. The lyrics by the legend Sri Chandrarathna Manawasinghe undoubtedly ranks one of the top lyricists of all time in Sri Lanka uses simple yet powerful beautiful Sinhala words to depict the patriotism in this lullaby. Manawasinghe him self hailed from Matara, Southern Sri Lanka wrote many patriotic poems during the 1950s. Beautiful mellow music by Sajjad Hussain. Senadheera Kuruppu and Rukmani Devi starred as a the couple. The film was based on veteran writer WA Silva book. The actual movie clip is taken from a government film unit (GFU) video clip which featured Rukmani Devi and her Sinhala Movies.

Music is by Laximikant Pyarelal.............Mohammed Rafi (Hindi: मोहम्मद रफ़ी, Urdu: محمد رفیع; December 24, 1924 July 31, 1980), often addressed as Rafi Sahib, was an Indian playback singer whose career spanned four decades and is one of the most versatile male singers in the history of Indian cinema. Rafi sang in many Indian languages including Hindi, Urdu, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, Sindhi, Kannada and Telugu. He also recorded English and Persian songs. He is primarily remembered, however, for his Hindi songs, which still remain very popular in India today and also among the Indian diaspora. He dominated the Bollywood music industry from the 1950s to the 1970s along with Mukesh, Manna Dey, and Kishore Kumar. Between 1950 and 1970, Rafi was one of the most sought after singers in Bollywood. In 1965, he was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Sri award. On Thursday, July 31, 1980, Rafi died at 10:50 pm, following a massive heart attack. Kanan Devi was among the early singing stars and her singing style usually in rapid tempo was instrumental in some of the biggest hits of New Theaters. Kanan Devi has the marvelous gift of smoothly carrying over to the melodic elaboration, the intimate expressiveness of speech occasional aspiration of vowels, accented speech rhythms, sensitive manipulation of volume. Kanan Bala belonged to a low class family and after the death of her father she and her mother were left to earn and live on their own and they did all sort of works to drag on their lives. When she was only 10, a well wisher introduced her to Jyoti studio where she got a small role in Joydev (1926). She later worked with Raadha Films in films mainly by Jyotish Banerjee. After being noticed for the first time in Khooni Kaun? and Maa, she got entry in the New Theaters of Calcutta. She came in contact of maestro RC Boral who coached her and familiarized her in Hindi accent. She got her musical training under Ustad Alla Rakha. She was employed as a singer at Megaphone Gramaphone Company receiving further training from Bhishmadev Chatterjee. She later learnt Rabindra Sangeet with Anadi Dastidar. New Theatres' PC Barua wanted her to play the lead in his Devdas (1935), but due to some reasons she could not act for the film. She later played the lead in Barau's Mukti (1937), which was a hit.
