The Foundation for Reconciliation will be delivering a petition to the Mormon Church. To sign the petition, please go to www.ldsapology.org. Please take time to read this petition, as well as read the stories and links provided, and pass this information on to your friends and link to us if you have a website or blog. We will deliver the Petition to Church Headquarters on the first anniversary of Proposition 8 being passed in California. By signing the Petition and spreading the word about it, you will be sending a message to the leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints that it is time for reconciliation. More importantly, you will be showing support for those who have been harmed by Church policies and practices because of their sexual orientation.

Why is it important for the state to recognize any marriage? How is it civil rights to be married? Just get married if you want to, you dont need the state. I am married to a white woman, and there was a time when it was illegal, however, the only reason a black man, and a white woman, could not be together, is because people killed that kind of couple. I am sure there is quite a bit of violence against gay people, and that sh** aint right. There should be laws to protect people against violence period. I know a gay couple, been together 12 years, ever hear them complaining about it. Of course this same couple tells me that gays burned down most of the ghetto side of oak lawn ave. in dallas tx, to put up nice condos and lofts, when no one took the offers made. Well, some of you may know that I did not agree with Prop 8 because it would eliminate rights for a group of individuals. So to me it's wrong to deny anyone of any type of right.
Alex Haley: In every conceivable manner, the family is link to our past, bridge to our future. Ironically a group that calls itself Californians against hate is spreading hate. Fred Karger is the organizer of the ironically named Californian's Against Hate. He is organizing the large-scale blacklisting of companies in retaliation for the private donations of its owners in support of Prop 8. Since the 1950s, this has been known as "McCarthyism." Thanks to Californians For [whoops... I mean Against] Hate, we already have a list with all the contact info of those businesses who donated to pass Prop 8 and whom we need to support. Please re-acquaint yourself with these heroes. The blacklist is still very much in force: businesses are being vandalized and disrupted by protesters and individuals are still being persecuted and losing their jobs for the cause. The gay activists opposing prop 8 are wrecking havoc on the various parts of decent society who oppose their agenda.

I would not have been able to get through it with out all of you. As you all know by now, it is very likely that Prop 8 will pass, but that does not mean we have been defeated, it just means we have been presented with yet another obstacle to overcome, which we should all be grateful for. It will make us stronger and wiser for the years to come in defeating discrimination and ignorance in a world where gays and lesbians are a minority. I wanted to say congratulations to the Prop 8 supporters for wasting tens of millions of dollars to strip away my fundamental rights. Congratulations for littering the sidewalks and freeways that line California with your pathetic yellow signs. Congratulations for flooding our airwaves with your pitiful propaganda. Many people gathered in Hollywood, CA to protest the passing of Prop 8. Prop 8 eliminates same sex marriage. What do want? EQUALITY! When do we want it? NOW! Even though I am NOT gay, I support the people who are, because they deserve to spend their life with the ones they love just like we do. Though some of the protestors crossed the boundaries...they were speaking their mind. They wanted people to listen and that was their way of getting their voice heard. Was it going to harm anybody to walk down Hollywood Blvd? No! I understand people may think that this is no way to go about doing things, but I'd like to hear what you think would be a better way. If these people don't fight for what they believe in nothing will get done. If they say "oh well, prop 8 was passed, that sucks" they are giving up on one of the most important things in their lives. How would you like it if a law was passed so that you couldn't marry the person you loved? Would you just sit on the couch watching the news announce that the law was passed? I don't think so. You'd be pissed and hurt. You'd want to show everyone that helped pass the law how it made you feel. So to all you haters out there...I hope you read this and watch this and think about it as if it were happening to you. I know, that you KNOW, you wouldn't like it one bit. No on 8 releases an ad narrated by actor Samuel L. Jackson that reflects on times in Calif.'s past when discrimination was legal: "We have an obligation to pass along to our children a more tolerant, more decent society. Vote "no" on Prop. 8. Its unfair, and it's wrong."
Mormon Giving Against Gay Marriage In California Tops $25 Million. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (the Mormons) continue to donate money against gay marriage in California at a breakneck pace. Mormons, whose members only make up about twelve percent of California's population, have donated an estimated 75% of the $25 million raised to pass Proposition 8, said Fred Karger, campaign manager for Californians Against Hate. Proposition 8 is the ballot initiative that would forbid gay marriage in California. It appears that at least 75% of the $25 million raised by Yes-on-8 is from members of the Mormon Church, wrote Karger in an email.
SUmmary: my current message to the yes on 8 people: Try as you may to inflict and influence others with your personal beliefs, but to do it so as to take away my right to believe the way i choose, is a crime against the freedoms and rights granted by the constitution, and further diminishes the spirit of constitutions mission to celebrate diversity and democracy. ----- --------- No on 8. Constitution grants each individual the right to practice their own beliefs and religion. For everyone to enjoy this right and freedom, we cannot pass laws that will take away that right from others. It is unfair to do so, and it is selfish, and discriminatory. You have to learn to be FAIR and tolerant. That is the whole purpose of freedom of religion and belief... for everyone to enjoy the right, you must allow diversity and difference in opinions, beliefs, thoughts, etc. Stop prop 8. It is discrimination and unfair. It's NOT the will of God to pass prop 8. Prop 8 does not celebrate the will of God in creating unique individuals. Not everyone can think or be like YOU. So stop trying to force your religion and belief on everyone else. Let everyone enjoy their civil liberties and freedom and rights. NO ON PROP 8

This is a message regarding Prop 8's ban on gay marriage in California. I urge all voters to vote and think strongly about how they will vote on Nov.4, 2008. Prop 8 will revive an old legacy. Don't be fooled by it. I am most shocked when people of minorities or groups that understand what it's like to be victimized by discrimination and oppression, happen to support Prop 8. It's most selfish and tragic, that we fight for our own rights and equality for ourselves, but we turn around and destroy the rights of others. Prop 8 is pure discrimination. You don't have to be Christian to get married and many parts of the world marry NOT under God, but instead are unions between families. The government has to "recognize" marriage because of property rights and clerical reasons, including legal rights to a loved one. That's all. So in light of separation from Church and State, and that marriage isn't always under God, the government's recognition of marriage should not be by the Church's standards, but instead, on the standard of two people wanting to unionize together. If you pass prop 8, you inflict damage and suffering on others. Gay couples, in emergencies, cannot ride in an ambulance together, cannot have a say for a sick and dying loved one, cannot manage the properties of a deceased loved one, etc etc. Imagine yourself, if you were unable to assist someone you loved, just because the law prohibited it... all because of discrimination and selfishness. Prop 8 is wrong. If we impose our religious beliefs on government, and we destroy the civil rights of others or harm others just because they are different, then we are only asking for a puritan society. There would be no diversity. It promotes the destruction of freedom of religion. This country was founded with the separation of church and state. It's called DEMOCRACY... it's what the colonists fled England FOR. And now our Christian neighbors that fuel this God-driven infringement of civil liberties, endangers the future of civil liberties. Prop 8 puts us back by decades! It brings back the fundamental of racism, discrimination, and hate. It brings us back to the Hitler fundamentals, the slavery the segregation and apartheid era, the holy wars era, the crusaders era, and all other times of discrimination. FIGHT DISCRIMINATION. BE FAIR. BE KIND. DIVERSITY IS NORMALITY. END THE HATE AND VOTE NO ON 8.

Backers of California's Proposition 8 say if it doesn't pass, schools will teach their children about gay marriage. Opponents of the measure argue that marriage is never taught in public schools. So, who is correct?
Bible Talk returns! This time, the topic is Gay Marriage. Leviticus tells us that when man lays with man, it is an abomination before god. Besides that one, Jesus, says somewhere in the Bible that Gay is not OK... and probably something about gay marriage too. Now, even if some of you atheists try to say that Jesus didn't say that, well then you just admitted that Jesus exists and therefore I win. Besides, if Jesus didn't say Gay Marriage is not OK, I'm sure he meant it. If that isn't reason enough to vote No on proposition 8 to stop gay marriage, then you must not be a good Christian. Speaking of which, I'm trying to figure this out. California's proposition 8 is the "gay marriage proposition" so it would seem that if I am against gay marriage I should vote no, right? Furthermore, if we do pass the gay marriage proposition, then the schools would teach our children that gay marriage is OK. Then our children would all grow up gay. The human race hangs in the balance. If all our kids turn gay, then humans will die out! Besides, think about this. We gave black people the right to marry white people a few decades back and now we might even have a black president. If we give gays the right to marry, then someday we might have a gay president. The gay people would probably make laws forcing us all to be gay. So whatever you do, do not vote for gay marriage. Vote no on prop 8... or is it yes. No, I'm pretty sure. If you hate gay people, then vote no on prop 8. Yea, that's how it is. Since, I am pretty sure that all the homophobes aren't reading this description, I can go ahead now and come back to reality. I initially titled this video Yes on 8, hoping that it would attach to other Yes on 8 videos... but since I wouldn't want to help out anyone who is a big enough lunatic to actually agree with this position I wanted to make sure I blurred the line about how to vote on 8. I was sitting in Starb... oops, a coffee shop near my house recently and I overheard a group of three older women discussing propositions and one of them had sent in her absentee ballot voting No on 8 because her church is against gay marriage. Her friend told her it was the other way around, that she should have voted yes on Prop 8. I quietly laughed to myself while they debated whether a yes was in favor of gay marriage or whether no was against gay marriage. I, of course, did not take the time to clear up the confusion. Afterward, I thought, maybe I should have interjected and insisted that a No vote was indeed the way to vote if they wanted to stop gay marriage... so there it is. Also, I have weighed in on the gay marriage issue 2 or 3 times already, so I figured I would take a slightly different approach on this video. I hope it wasn't too far over the top. I actually taped this one about 4 or 5 times, until I was happy enough with the result. (A couple of them were definitely over the top!) Anyway, it looks like I have been typing longer than it actually took for the video to upload, which is extremely rare, and means that YouTube will actually save my description box now. Good. All right. All this typing was not in vain. The upload mechanism is in fact improving. Keep it up YouTube. Oh yea, and happy halloween. I guess for Halloween, I am acting like a crazy christian. Not that all christians are crazy! Just the one I portray in this video... and probably a few others out there. Thanks for reading. Read all you want, I'll write more. -Chris Corsello October 2008

All of my friends and i agree that prop 8 is evil. It is discrimination, and discrimination is un-constitutional. But if 8 passes, then discrimination will be put into the californian constitution. Regaurdless of how you feel about marraige, do you really think it is ok to treat people differently under the law just because of who they are? It's ridiculous! It's like telling two people they can not get married because one is blonde and the other is brunette. The yes campaign is also useing kids as an excuse to make people agree with them. Their best arguement is that if 8 doesn't pass, then kids will learn about Gay marraige in school. Honestly i see no problem with introducing kids to the topic, because if kids learn that it is ok, then they will be less likely to discriminate when they grow up. they will be more open minded, and will be more able to accept peopl for who they are. No matter what happens, i'm going to make sure that my 6, 4, and 2 year old cousins learn that there is nothing wrong with homosexuality and that no matter who you are, you should always treat people equally. So please, dont be ignorant. Vote NO on Prop 8.

i allow peoples comments on my video... you can preach your "yes on 8" but you don't want to hear ANYTHING. I could only reply with a video comment.... how honorable. Trying to pass legislation without anybody being heard, sounds like Hitler to me "sig hiel" that's what you all sound like to me. So if you wanna oppress me and "my people" this is what i say.
yeah my mom told me to do this so yeah here is the things i said i was guna put in here the site url: http://www.pe.com/localnews/inland/stories/PE_News_Local_S_samesex27.3d39651.html and the news thing a ma bob The first one: There will be a rally on Wednesday, October 29, at 5pm against Prop 8. It will take place on the corner of Mission inn Avenue and Lemon Street. Please bring your signs, especially homemade ones and banners, against 8. We would like ot cover all four corners. There will be a second rally on November 3rd, same time and place. These are peaceful gatherings, just to make sure we influence those who have not made up their minds. No namecalling, no ugliness. If the other side tries to bait us, we rise above it. The second one: There will be a gathering at First Congregational Church of Riverside to pray and work for the defeat of Prop 8 and the loss of civil rights for our citizens. It will go from 4-5 pm, and we welcome all people of faith, and those who do not share faith but share in the desire to defeat Prop 8. Clergy and other faith leaders are invited to attend in their appropriate attire. This will take place at the same time that those supporting 8 will be fasting and praying to pass Prop 8 in San Diego- we want a large gathering for the press to see that there are good people who want to see it defeated. The church is located at Mission Inn Avenue and Lemon Street in Riverside, and has a large steeple that can be seen from the 91 freeway. There are several parking garages downtwon if no street parking is available. There is no charge for parking on the weekends. thnx 4 watching every1 and sory if this bored u to death

Mormons believe they know what's best when it comes to marriage. They are at the forefront of the effort to pass California's Proposition 8 - the first ballot measure that would rescind an existing constitutional right to marry. Over three-quarters of the funding for Proposition 8 comes from the Mormon Church and its supporters, yet their members represent only about 2% of the state's population
