This was my quarter-finals match in the 77kg advanced no-gi division. This guy was pretty tough and almost got me with a toehold. Luckily, I was able to get ahold of his arm and keep him from getting the leverage to finish. By the end of the match, he was gassing from trying so hard to get the toe hold and I easily passed his guard and mounted. I wasn't able to submit this guy, unfortunately and ended up winning on points, 24-0.
Division 1 quarterfinals and Division 2 and 3 preliminaries.
The Okie Kid (in black) out of Coweta wins the Championship match in the Division 1 (age 6 and under), 60-lb weight class. Match Summary: The Okie Kid locks up with his nimble, quick-on-his-feet opponent in a show down of two very different wrestling styles - the Okie Kid's strength, balance and control versus the opponent's quickness, foot action, and headlock-hunting focus. The Okie Kid leads with a largely ineffective leg shot and imediately finds himself in the opponent's snaky headlock. The opponent (in headgear) uses the headlock to keep the Okie Kid from undertaking an aggressive offensive scoring drive throughout the match. However, the lock strategy can't overcome the Okie Kid's balance and control to translate into an effective scoring position on the Okie Kid . The Okie Kid maintains control and outscores the opponent over a hard fought match by both wrestlers.
The Okie Kid (in black) out of Coweta wins the semifinal match in the Division 1 (age 6 and under), 60-lb weight class. Match Summary: The Okie Kid leads with a good double leg shot, but quickly finds himself in the opponent's well executed, snaky headlock. The opponent (in orange) works the headlock into a solid nearfall and claims ealry points, but can't nail the pin. The Okie Kid recovers and imposes a long period of maintained control to win the match.
The Okie Kid (in black) out of Coweta wins match 2 in the Division 1 (age 6 and under), 60-lb weight class. Match Summary: The Okie Kid controls and wins the match.

Ray-Ray Beats a very good wrestler Judd Ziegler in the finals of the Warren County K-8 Wrestling tournament. We met Judd and his father and chatted a while, they are a class act and very nice people. We wish them well. Ray-Ray had to wrestle a 6th. grader in the 1st. round because he was big for his age , but it was not fair for the kid , they should have let him wrestle in a younger division. Ray-Ray pinned him in 8 seconds. Please guys don't put 6th. graders against 8th. graders unless they are studs. I will not post that video in fairness to the younger kid. Ray-Ray is now wrestling with Rampage Wrestling in Waldorf Md.
