My creative video buddy took my previous video "The Word (Rubber Soul)" and had some fun with it. Though it IS entertaining, it 's really a great side by side comparison between my '69 P and his Duck Dunn Lakeland. As always, use headphones.

www.how-to-play-bass.com Here's a video lesson on how to play bass to I Can't Turn You Loose by Otis Redding. The original bass line was played by Donald 'Duck' Dunn. This is a good tune for beginners to learn as it's fairly straightforward note wise and the song is an archetypal 3 chord wonder. There's a basic riff pattern that forms the bulk of the tune - once you've learned it all you need to do is change the root note of the pattern every time the chords change. Classic but relatively simple (doesn't prevent the fudges though) bass line from Duck Dunn (I think - anybody know any different). Played on cheap fender precision copy through a crap amplifier. Total cost 200 quid. Piece of foam used as string damper (except under the G string). Song sung by the immortal Otis Redding - the band Booker T and the MGs (once again I think). Feedback from more experienced (ie. better) bass players welcome. I can hear it in my head - the trouble comes when I try to play it
