Our newest original, steeped in Honky Tonk tradition -- and pickled in Kentucky whiskey! Gonna need a beer for the tears to go in on this one. Hope you enjoy a bit of humor in this cheap, trashy vid. Congas by Mikey "Bongos" Nowak. Original video footage by Jody Moore. Song by Drew Townson, copyright 2010. FYI: This song is for sale.
From the American Jamboree on Sept 11 2010 in Boston. Twang 'em High plays their signature original tune, "Longhorn Caddy". Drew Townson, guitar & vocals; Al Harper, guitar; Chick Deptula, bass; Paul Gallo, drums & vocals; Mike Nowak, congas. Song by Drew Townson. Video by Jody Moore.
Another one from AmJam on Sept 11. This is a newer original called "Cigarettes and Rain". Check out the nifty dual hillbilly guitars. YeeeHaw! Video shot by Jody Moore at Magic Room Gallery, Boston.
Frow the American Jamboree set, Sept 11, 2010, shot by Jody Moore at Magic Room Gallery, Boston. Special guest on this song, Mikey "Bongos" Nowak. Note tricky dual-harmony lead guitar solo.
This is my second arrangement for brass quintet, which includes music from Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. I've always had a passion for the Indiana Jones movies, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to arrange some of John Williams' amazing score for brass quintet. This arrangement includes the famous "Raider's March" and "Marion's Theme" from the Raiders credits music. All of the musicians involved including myself are all studying at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and were all juniors at the time of this recording. The Brass Quintet of the Ages: Ryan Kreiser, Trumpet Chad Downey, Trumpet Drew Prichard, Tuba Aaron Kibbler, Horn Frank Townson, Trombone All credit of this music goes to John Williams -- I (Ryan Kreiser) arranged it for brass quintet. The music in the credits is taken from the credits of Raiders of the Lost Ark, and again, all credit goes to John Williams. Enjoy!
OK folks! Here is an audio example of what we recorded with the rigs displayed in Parts 1 and 2. Starts with some shimmery clean tones using the LP Special (tuned open G with capo 4) and then comes the lead solo with the '61 SG. For the lead I was thinking David Gilmore, Slash and Mick Taylor. Your feedback is welcomed.

A young cowboy named Billy Joe grew restless on the farm A boy filled with wonderlust who really meant no harm He changed his clothes and shined his boots And combed his dark hair down And his mother cried as he walked out Don't take your guns to town son Leave your guns at home Bill Don't take your guns to town He laughed and kissed his mom And said your Billy Joe's a man I can shoot as quick and straight as anybody can But I wouldn't shoot without a cause I'd gun nobody down But she cried again as he rode away Don't take your guns to town son Leave your guns at home Bill Don't take your guns to town He sang a song as on he rode His guns hung at his hips He rode into a cattle town A smile upon his lips He stopped and walked into a bar And laid his money down But his mother's words echoed again Don't take your guns to town son Leave your guns at home Bill Don't take your guns to town He drank his first strong liquor then to calm his shaking hand And tried to tell himself he had become a man A dusty cowpoke at his side began to laugh him down And he heard again his mothers words Don't take your guns to town son Leave your guns at home Bill Don't take your guns to town Filled with rage then Billy Joe reached for his gun to draw But the stranger drew his gun and fired Before he even saw As Billy Joe fell to the floor The crowd all gathered 'round And wondered at his final words Don't take your guns to town son Leave your guns at home Bill Don't take your guns to town

I wrote this on 5/02/09 And preformed it publicly for the first time at this show.
This piece is a part of a little project I started a while back to arrange some of my favorite songs from the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Once I was done writing the music my brass quintet, the Brass Quintet of the Ages, performed the music and had it recorded by a friend of ours. This is the result! All of the musicians involved including myself are all studying at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and were all sophomores at the time of this recording. The Brass Quintet of the Ages: Ryan Kreiser, Trumpet Chad Downey, Trumpet Drew Prichard, Tuba Aaron Kibbler, Horn Frank Townson, Trombone Please keep in mind that there was little or no rehearsal time spent on this and it was purely for fun and for the love of all that is Monty Python! All credit for the musical content goes to the Monty Python crew and specifically to composer Neil Innes who wrote Brave Sir Robin and Knights of the Round Table for the movie. I was only responsible for the brass quintet arrangement of the music. Enjoy and please do leave comments! But none that smell of elderberries please!
The Cleveland Tourism Board gave me 14 million dollars about 8 months ago to make a promotional video to bring people to Cleveland. As usual, I waited till the last minute and I ended up having to shoot and edit it in about an hour yesterday afternoon. I probably should have invested more time. mikepolkjr.com
