WCIU TV in Chicago did a nice little 15 minute countdown special for their analog shutoff. This is the very end when they shut down the signal at 11:59 PM on June 12, 2009. Personally, I think they should have had Svengoolie shut it off.
This was the transition of ABC 6 in Columbus, Ohio (WSYX) to digital television. All day, there was a countdown displayed at the top of the screen, and the last program to be aired was Seinfeld. Since they were the only channel actually airing something normally, I chose it to record the switch for posterity. NBC was airing PSAs all day, and CBS had regular audio of what was supposed to be on, but the only video was a card with DTV converter information. Then they ruined what was going to be my dramatic recording of the signal switching to static by putting on a 10-minute PSA. Thus, I share.

After years of waiting the DTV switch came down to the click of a button around 9:00 this morning. You may experience a loss of signal over the next 30 minutes or so, because not only are we making the switch ehre at CBS 7, local providers are also having to make the switch. Viewers watching the old analog CBS 7 with rabbit ears or outdoor antennas will need to connect those antennas to a digital receiver, such as a new digital TV or a converter box that then connects to the old TV. Simply connect the existing antenna to the converter box and the converter box to the TV. Tune the TV to channel 3 and instruct the converter box to scan for new channels. If you are having trouble with your converter box, or if you are on Dish Network or cable and you are still having problems receiving the CBS 7 signal in an hour or so, help is available at 1-888-CALL-FCC and www.dtvanswers.com.
