I was 19 yrs old in the Navy, working on the flight deck of the USS Dwight D Eisenhower off the coast of Puerto Rico. A film crew from PM Magazine out of Miami wanted to do a piece on the toughest jobs in the Navy. They wanted somebody from the Miami area, so they picked me. The Eisenhower proposal was not accepted by the Soviets during the Cold War. But in 1989 Eisenhower's proposal was revived leading to the 1992 Open Skies Treaty.
