This is just a little test showing my experiences with load performance of Emerald Viewer 1.23.5 and Second Life Viewer 2.1.1 Beta. Don't take this too seriously yet, I'll have to redo it in more controlled conditions. Some facts: Both viewers were running side-by-side on an Intel Core i7 920 2.66 GHz with a GeForce 260 GTX on Linux. They were set to "High" quality + 256m viewing distance, 256 MB VRAM each, AA off, Aniso Filtering on, Vertex Buffers on. Both caches were cleared, stored in separate locations and the clients were set to a bandwidth of 5000 kbit/s each.
Using Emerald Viewer 1.4.0 (2270) beta i get errors when clicking 'Show on Map' from search. I have to close the map and re-click the button in order to get the map to open and show the destination. CPU: Intel Core 2 Series Processor (2200 MHz) Memory: 3584 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 (Build 2600) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce 9500 GT/PCI/SSE2 Windows Graphics Driver Version: 6.14.0011.9107 OpenGL Version: 3.2.0
Here I show myself editing am image file in gimp, and it updates in-world whenever I save the file with ctrl+s I'm not affiliated with Emerald Viewer or anything, I just thought this feature was really cool and wanted it to get some attention. :) It has shown up in the most recent Emerald Beta viewers, and should be out in a stable release soon.
In this tutorial I am focused on the File Tab and the Save Texture As... Feature.
Follow me as I show you how to download the Emerald Viewer and remember it is always a good idea to remove any Second Life client or viewer before installing another.

I'm using the Radegast Second Life viewer v1.12 and Windows 7 speech recognition. The chatbot is an ALICE bot. I am using the Emerald viewer also. Logged in with an alt using the Emerald viewer. Chatbot only works in IM. I can control the Radegast viewer controls with my voice. I did not create this viewer. Please give credit to latifer, logicmoo, and mojitotech for their hard work. This is just a quick screencap video to showcase the Dynamic Shadows in Second Life. How to activate: 1) Set your graphics to max 2) If necessary, open the "Advanced" Option in the top menu: Ctrl+Alt+D 3) Go to "Advanced" - "Debug Settings" 4) In the Debug Settings, set the "RenderUseFBO" Setting to "True" 5) Set the "RenderDeferred" Setting to "True" 6) With a bit of Luck, enjoy SL with shadows (and a significant FPS drop). Don't bother trying this with old or low-performance Hardware. Filmed with the GreenLife Emerald Viewer (this works in the Standard LL Viewer just as fine). System Specs: Vista64, Pentium Q6600, 4GB Ram, xfx 9800gtx+
The Emerald viewer is an optional viewer for the Virtual World of Second Life (www.secondlife.com). It has over 50 new environmental light settings available in advanced sky editor. Model Ryce Skytower demonstrates how these light settings look on his skin. There are subtle yet very dramatic differences.
