Harold Camping, the 89-year-old president of the Family Radio network, insists that May 21, 2011 will see the biblical Rapture come to pass, when God will pull the faithful into heaven, leaving the rest of the world to face the apocalypse. "It is going to happen," Camping told National Public Radio. "There is no Plan B." Of course, Camping originally guaranteed the world would end in 1994. All of which means that when May 22 rolls around, we can get back to obsessing about the other end of the world, as foretold by the Mayans, on December 21, 2012.
