Hi-def video from the Causeway viewing site on Kennedy Space Center I was taking photos through a 600mm canon lens, with a 2x teleconverter. Unfortunately at the last second I screwed up the settings, so I had a great view, but no pictures to speak of. This HD Video Camera was on a gorilla pod mount sitting on the ground next to me.
The last "night launch" of nasa's Space Shuttle. STS-130 (Endeavour) roared off the ground at 4:14am on 8 Feb 2010. A few notes: The video covers from launch to SRB separation, however my camera fails to capture the faint twinkling of the boosters falling to the ground. While the light from the engines appear as a ball in the video, it is a long tail in real life. The rumbling heard half-way through the video is the sound of the beginning of the launch catching up to us 14 miles away (though I claim "7 miles" in the video).
This is my first youtube post. Not the best video, but thought it was worth sharing because, I could not find any other STS 130 launch videos outside of NASA. Note, my camera has a locked pixil, so don't confuse that with the space shuttle. Taken on Feb 8, 2010 at 4:21AM; along the Charles River on the Cambridge side; windy; freezing cold 20 degrees.

On February 8th, 2010, at 4:14 am EST, Space Shuttle Endeavor launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida in what was the last scheduled night launch of a space shuttle. After being delayed a day due to low clouds, the clouds finally cooperated enough for the STS-130 mission to allow for a spectacular final night launch of the shuttle program. This video was taken 3.1 miles north of the NASA Causeway on US Route 1, south of Titusville, Florida, and was 12 miles away from the launch site. Filmed with a Canon FS100 digital video camera. Description of this mission from NASA: "The STS-130 mission of space shuttle Endeavour will deliver a third connecting module - the Tranquility node - to the International Space Station and a seven-windowed cupola to be used as a control room for robotics."

I think it took off at exactly 4:14 AM and 8 seconds, yea "8 seconds" It was carrying a module called cupola that will be installed on the ISS in the next two weeks.

Space Shuttle Endeavor Launch - STS 127 - July 15th, 2009 - As seen from the Banana River VIP viewing site. After traveling up to Kennedy Space Center five times, I finally got to see it go on its sixth launch attempt. I guess they felt sorry for us since it scrubbed five times, so they upgraded us from the Nasa Parkway viewing site on 405 to the Banana River viewing site on Kennedy parkway! The video was taken from 3.92 miles away.
Today NASA broadcast a live stream of the shuttle launch and I thought it would be worth it to record and upload to youtube. I personally have never seen a launch before this and felt that many others may not have either. It is slightly low-quality, but that's the resolution that it was streamed at. I skipped recording most of the pre-launch (up to about 3 minutes before launch) because it was mostly just a big wait; nothing exciting happening. I should be putting up more and more videos (hopefully) soon. Enjoy!
