Persona 3's opening, "Burn My Dread," with both Latin and English subs. (Although the song is in English, you kind of need subs to understand the awful Engrish... I honestly thought the song was in another language before I started translating it.) I know this isn't the best encoding ever, but after the video failed to encode properly five million times, I no longer care :D Anyway, my hat is tipped to my friend snoozysam, who both listened to me rant and rave about encoding problems and beat me in the unofficial "who has the longest video-making hiatus" contest. Also, his subtitle job of the P3P opening is much prettier than mine. Some translation notes! First off, this is a strictly literal translation. I did nothing fancy like meter or poetic devices. Secondly, this song really loves to break up sentences into two parts. This causes a problem when translating into Latin because the word order is different (Latin is subject-object-verb, and English is subject-verb-object). Latin's grammar structure is flexible and I could have rearranged the translation to follow the English word order exactly, but I opted to keep the translation in proper Latin word order. Hence, in some parts the English and Latin don't immediately match. "O Fortuna" is a medieval Latin Goliardic poem composed early in the thirteenth century, part of the collection known as the Carmina Burana. It is a complaint about fate, and Fortuna, a goddess in Roman mythology and personification of luck. (I'm also pretty sure I can be the only person to claim having translated anything Tales related into Latin, ahaha.) The English lyrics are my friend snoozysam's translation, so you can blame him for English incongruities with the Japanese ;) In my own translation, I attempted to be as literal as possible. I didn't bother trying to be poetic or stick to meter at all. I'll leave that to Vergil and company.

The 51 year old Italian tenor / pop singer, Andrea Bocelli, began his singing career in the late 80's, performing at piano bars.
