Ernie Harwell farewell speech 2009.
A brief snippet of Drew and Mike on WRIF interviewing Ernie Harwell several years back about his biggest ever "on-the-air" blunder. What you think it might be isn't even going to be close! Check it out! On the 'Riff! NOTE: Forgive the "cheesy" production values. I'm working towards purchasing real audio/video processing setup! I figured the content was more important than the presentation.... for now! :-)

Shortly after Harwell got the bad news about his health he gave a speech to the Tiger fans as farewell. This is the view from my seats
At Detroit's Comerica Park, Baseball Hall of Fame (1981) broadcaster Ernie Harwell gives a farewell speech to fans roughly a week after being diagnosed with an inoperable cancerous tumor of the bile duct. Harwell is a legend and icon in the minds of many Detroiter's, myself included. This video is taken from the right field bleachers. It is fortunate that the Tigers have a chance to honor him while he is still alive. Thank you Ernie.

Ernie Harwell Says Goodbye to the Fans at Comerica Park
What a great honor it was to share this night with the one and only Ernie Harwell. If you grew up anywhere in the US midwest, or eastern Canada over the last 50 years or so... and are a fan of baseball, you know what a wonderful, irreplaceable talent he is. On countless sweltering Michigan summer nights for most of my life, I had the pleasure of hearing his booming voice calling Detroit Tigers baseball play-by-play, over the 50000 watt clear-channel Great Voice of the Great Lakes, WJR-AM 760 ...
