Western Potash Corp. intends to define and delineate world class deposit(s). The term "potash" refers to a group of potassium (K) bearing minerals and chemicals. For more, check out WWW.ERICJAYDOLIN.COM. From the best-selling author of Leviathan comes this sweeping history of one of Americas most remarkable industries. In Fur, Fortune, and Empire: The Epic History of the Fur Trade in America, (WW Norton, July 2010), Eric Jay Dolin traces the dramatic rise and fall of the American fur industry, from the first Dutch encounters with the Indians in the early 1600s to the rise of the conservation movement in the late nineteenth century. Dolin shows how the fur trade, driven by the demands of fashion, sparked controversy, fostered economic competition, and fueled wars among the European powers, as North America became a battleground for colonization and imperial aspirations. The trade in beaver, buffalo, sea otter, and other animal skins spurred the exploration and the settlement of the vast American continent, while it alternately enriched and gravely damaged the lives of Americas native peoples. Populated by a larger-than-life cast—including Dutch governor Peter Stuyvesant; President Thomas Jefferson; Americas first multimillionaire, John Jacob Astor; and mountain men Kit Carson and Jedediah Smith—Fur, Fortune, and Empire is the most comprehensive and compelling history of the American fur trade ever written.

This song is a spliced combination of two different mp3s. While bored at a snowbound town in Quebec, I downloaded an uncompressed mp3 file by an unknown choir group performing Stan Rogers' classic tune "Northwest Passage." Although the choir was superb, their individual tenors stumbled upon the verses between the choruses. As such, I used Adobe Soundbooth CS3 to create a medley in which the choir sings the choruses and Stan Rogers sings the verses. I believe the result is quite pleasing to the ear. The original song, "Northwest Passage," was penned by Canadian folk musician and songwriter Stan Rogers. Rogers was renowned for his baritone voice and his finely-crafted songs which were inspired by history. The song recounts the search for the Northwest Passage in which explorers sought a shortcut by water through North America to Japan. Alternatively, other explorers sought an overland route to the Western Ocean. Over time, the search for a northwest passage became a collective dream. In a sense, it is every man's dream to find a short route to his heart's desire. Many explorers perished while searching for this dream. One such man was Sir John Franklin who explored the Beaufort Sea in the Canadian Arctic. Franklin's crew perished from starvation, hypothermia, and exposure. The expedition's icebound ships were abandoned in desperation. The lines "To find the hand of Franklin reaching for the Beaufort Sea" and "seeking gold and glory, leaving weathered broken bones/and a long ...
Metroid Prime is a video game developed by Retro Studios and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo GameCube, released in North America on November 17, 2002. It is the first 3D game in the Metroid series, and is classified by Nintendo as a first-person adventure[2] rather than a first-person shooter, due to the large exploration component of the game. In North America, it was also the first Metroid installment to be released since Super Metroid in 1994; in all other markets, it was released after Metroid Fusion. Metroid Prime is the first of the three part Prime storyline, which takes place between the original Metroid and Metroid II: Return of Samus.[4][5] Like previous games in the series, Metroid Prime has a science fiction setting, in which players control the bounty hunter Samus Aran. The story follows Samus as she battles the Space Pirates and their biological experiments on the planet Tallon IV. Despite initial backlash from fans due to the first-person perspective,[6] the game was released to both critical and commercial success, selling more than a million units in North America alone and becoming one of the most acclaimed games of all time. In 2009, an enhanced version was released for Wii as a standalone game in Japan and as part of Metroid Prime: Trilogy internationally. As in previous Metroid games, Prime takes place in a large, open-ended world with different regions connected by elevators. Each region has a set of rooms separated by doors that can be opened ...

The Franklin Expedition was an ill-fated exploration of the Arctic, led by Captain Sir John Franklin in 1845. Franklin and 128 men from his expedition disappeared during their travels through an unnavigated section of the Northwest Passage. Despite the efforts of subsequent search expeditions, they were not rescued in time. Today, Franklin's lost expedition is the subject of numerous historic and artistic works. A Place Without A Postcard is a documentary film about Urban Exploration - the guerilla act of seeking out and experiencing places abandoned by civilization. From expansive empty factories to deserted farm-homes, these sites offer Urban Explorers forbidden thrills, endless photographic possibilities, and access to an untapped "hands on" sense of architecture, history, and culture. As society rushes on; demolishing, paving, and building itself towards an uncertain future, there is little attention paid to that which stands quiet and dust covered behind locked fences and doors. An examination of Urban Exploration and its practitioners unearths serious questions about our cultural and historical awareness and notions of progress. Featuring locations across North America and Europe, as well as interviews with numerous explorers, A Place Without A Postcard sheds a new light on a fascinating sub-culture and it's relevance in the modern world.

tinyurl.com The Kensington Runestone is a slab of greywacke covered in runes on its face and side which, if it is genuine, would suggest that Scandinavian explorers reached the middle of North America in the 14th century. It was found in 1898 in the largely rural township of Solem, Douglas County, Minnesota, and named after richardandscott the nearest settlement, Kensington. Runologists and linguists consider the runestone to be a hoax. The runestone has been analysed and dismissed repeatedly without local effect. The community of Kensington is solidly behind the runestone, which has transcended its original cultural purposes and has taken on a life of its own. Mr. Holand translated the stone and found it to read,8 Goths and 22 Norweigans on exploration journey from Vinland over the west. We camp by 2 skerries one day-journey from this stone. We were and fished one day. After we came home, 10 men red with blood and tourtured. Hail Virgin Mary, save from evil. Have 10 men by the sea to look after our ship, 14 day -journeys from this island year 1362. The translation of this stone sparked an international search to find out if it could possibly be genuine. The Minnesota Historical society appointed five scholars to investigate, and after a year and half of work reported the stone genuine. The Kensington Runestone is 31 inches high, 16 inches wide, six inches thick and weighs 202 pounds.

Britain was THE HYPERPOWER of the world longer than any "super power" in the world today. These pathetic "Super powers" today where no match for Britain with a 18.35 TRILLION Economy. Britannia is on a break after her long decades as a HYPERPOWER Anyway enjoy. Read the history of Britains Empire below. The world would be useless without us. ________________________________________________________________________________ The British Empire comprised the dominions, colonies, protectorates, mandates, and other territories ruled or administered by the United Kingdom (UK), that had originated with the overseas colonies and trading posts established by England in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. At its height it was the largest empire in history and, for over a century, was the foremost global power. By 1922, the British Empire held sway over a population of about 458 million people, one-quarter of the world's population,[1] and covered more than 13000000 square miles (33670000 km²): approximately a quarter of the Earth's total land area.[2] As a result, its political, linguistic and cultural legacy is widespread. At the peak of its power, it was often said that "the sun never sets on the British Empire" because its span across the globe ensured that the sun was always shining on at least one of its numerous territories. During the Age of Discovery in the 15th and 16th centuries, Spain and Portugal pioneered European exploration of the globe and in the process ...
