January 29, 2011 At approximately 12:00 PM on January 29th, 20011, according to eyewitness Theresa Shabbos who lives one floor above 2 South End Avenue, local resident Adam Pratt was walking his small dog and arrived at the southeast corner of the buildings on 21 South End Avenue, just north of the South Cove Marina. Mr. Pratt was confronted by one of the Battery Park City security offices (an African American woman, approximately 5'3″, heavyset, wearing green uniform). The Parks Conservancy would not comment or provide names. According to witness Shabbos, who happened to be looking out her window, The BPC security woman pushed Mr. Pratt in the face. He then tried to take a photograph of her and she chased him northward. Mr. Pratt evaded the security officer by dipping into the Regatta apartment building. Ms. Shodda lost track of events from thereon, but other witnesses at the Vince Smith Hair Experience, one block north, say that Mr. Pratt frantically knocked on their storefront window and begged for them to call the New York Police Department. Moments later, according to a third witness walking his dog on the corner of Rector Place and South End Avenue, who wished to remain anonymous, said that multiple green-uniform park security officers had now been recruited and struck Mr. Pratt in the arm with a baton and Mr. Pratt was walking westward on Rector Place west of South End Avenue, holding his dog in his arms. This was confirmed by a other witnesses. Mr. Pratt was then ...

Interview conducted by Eileen Hurst. Parker joined the US Marine Corps on July 22, 1968 just after graduation from high school. He attended boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina, and after additional training in North Carolina and California, Parker was assigned to Danang Air Base in Vietnam. His first assignment in Danang was as a baker, and then later he was assigned to the mailroom on the base. In addition to the seven day a week job in the mail room, he also went out on patrols, or as extra help with reconnaissance at night as a machine gunner. He was discharged in February of 1970, and returned home to West Hartford, CT, where he worked as a firefighter for 24 years in West Hartford, and in Hartford for seven. He joined the VFW in West Hartford shortly after returning from Vietnam.
So you knew this was coming, the other half to the other night's festivities. I will gladly take the blame for having made the slippery one play just a few more rounds than he may have originally (thought he had) signed on for. I take the blame, but I apologize for nothing! The disclaimer that I agreed to preface all footage of the night's events was that there was indeed some lag at work, although by the very end, it either dissipated or was adjusted to or both to the point where I have to say that I could no longer feel its presence. --- Match #1 -- Training Stage Ryu and Morrigan (EEL) vs. Viewtiful Joe and Roll (MS.MUTOU) I don't know why, but as Viewtiful Joe, I often feel...listless...like, I know there's a lot of stuff TO do, but I don't really know what I SHOULD do...so I toss out a Shocking Pink, either a short fuse if I think the enemy will advance upon me in short order or a long fuse, so I can try to throw a Voomerang to push it at a retreating foe. In this case, I had the weirdest time keeping myself straight between Voomerangs and Bird Runs. Go figure. Also, the Six Machine is NOT supposed to work that way! What's more, I can't believe it actually WORKED! --- Match #2 -- Willamette Parkview Mall Chun-Li and Saki (MS.MUTOU) vs. Yatterman-1 and Joe the Condor (EEL) I don't know what it is about being tied up with an electrified kendama, but somehow that just gets me riled up and off-kilter...probably because it forces me to watch as slowly a small amount of ...

"Night of the Living Dead" remastered in High Definition. HORROR PLAYLIST: www.youtube.com Follows Ben (Duane Jones), Barbra (Judith O'Dea), and five others, who are trapped in a rural farmhouse in Pennsylvania and attempt to survive the night while the house is being attacked by mysteriously reanimated ghouls, otherwise known as zombies. Roger Ebert: "The kids in the audience were stunned. There was almost complete silence. The movie had stopped being delightfully scary about halfway through, and had become unexpectedly terrifying. There was a little girl across the aisle from me, maybe nine years old, who was sitting very still in her seat and crying... It's hard to remember what sort of effect this movie might have had on you when you were six or seven. But try to remember. At that age, kids take the events on the screen seriously, and they identify fiercely with the hero. When the hero is killed, that's not an unhappy ending but a tragic one: Nobody got out alive. It's just over, that's all."

1) Egypt : SALAAWA (DUR: 9'02) From Egypt comes a tale of a mysterious beast, reported to have injured dozens of people in ferocious night-time attacks. It's name, the Salaawa, or female ghoul. Animal X went to meet the victims of this bizarre stalker and to see first-hand the horrific injuries they've sustained. Witness accounts vary, but most say the animal looks like a dog or wolf. Some claim it has supernatural powers the ability to change shape and jump high in the air. Following 23 attacks in just two weeks in Quattamiya, police set up patrols in the district and ordered residents to stay indoors. The animal responsible was eventually killed, but only after savaging an entire family. They claim it was invincible and when they threw it on a fire, it's body would not burn. 2) AUS : DOLPHIN THERAPY (DUR: 7'43) From the West Coast of Ireland to the West Coast of Australia people are taking to the waters to swim with dolphins as a means of therapy. Remnick deserves credit for telling Obamas story more completely than others, for lending a reporters zeal to the task, for not ducking the discussion of race and for peeling back several layers of the onion that is Barack Obama. The Washington Post Superb. Beautifully written and artfully constructed. The Economist Ambitious and well executedIts fair and high-minded, sensitive but dispassionate, admiring but never fawningIts this mix of intellect, fact, and feeling that distinguish Remnicks assessment of Obamas victory.Time Out New York If you care about American politics, you have to read The Bridge. Salon Remnick, editor of the New Yorker, offers a detailed but lusterless account of Barack Obama's historic ascent. As a piece of "biographical journalism," the book succeeds ably enough and offers familiar commentary on Obama's cosmopolitan childhood with strains of isolation and abandonment straight out of David Copperfield-rootless, fatherless, with a loving but naïve and absent mother, he suffered racial taunts and humiliations at the hands of his schoolmates. We read how Obama's famous composure was hard-won, how he constructed his personality in opposition to his father's grandiose self-regard, his transformation from "Barry" to "Barack," the drug use, the burgeoning racial and political consciousness-rehashing events that the subject himself has covered in his frank memoirs. But for the scope (and size) of the book, Remnick's interest is ultimately limited to a ...

Comeback tales don't come any more heartwarming (or unlikely) than Robert Ward's Totally off the scene and thought by many aficionados to be dead, Ward's chance encounter with guitar-shop owner Dave Hussong in Dayton, OH, set off a rapid chain of events that culminated in Ward's 1990 debut album for Black Top, Fear No Evil, and a second chance at the brass ring.Ward had picked up his first guitar at age ten. Singles by Sister Rosetta Tharpe, BB King, and Muddy Waters left their mark on the youth. After a stint in the Army, Ward came home in 1959 and joined his first band, the Brassettes (who also included Roy Lee Johnson, soon to join Piano Red's band and croon "Mister Moonlight").Ward's trademark vibrato-soaked guitar sound was the direct result of acquiring a Magnatone amplifier at a Dayton music store. Lonnie Mack was so entranced by the watery sound of Ward's amp that he bought a Magnatone as well; both still utilize the same trademark sound to this day.Detroit producer Robert West signed the Untouchables to his LuPine logo in 1962. Ward's quirky touch was beautifully exhibited on the hard-bitten "I'm Tired," a chilling doo wop-tinged "Forgive Me Darling," and the exotic "Your Love Is Amazing" for LuPine. In addition, the Untouchables backed Wilson Pickett and the Falcons on their gospel-charged 1962 smash "I Found a Love."Ward left the Untouchables in 1965 (to be replaced by Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner), stopping at Don Davis's Groove City label long enough to cut a ...
