"And I Love You So" is a popular song written by Don McLean and released on his 1970 debut album, Tapestry. The song has been recorded by many artists in the years since McLean's original version, and it was a 1973 hit for singer Perry Como on his album of the same name, And I Love You So. Como's version of the song reached #29 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart; this was the last of his many popular recordings to reach the Top 40. It also spent one week at #1 on the adult contemporary chart in 1973. In Britain the record reached #3 on the UK Singles Chart in 1973 on RCA records and remained in the chart for 31 weeks (longer than any other of his hits in the UK). Other recordings The song was recorded by Elvis Presley at RCA studio C in Hollywood, California on March 11 1975. It was released on the Elvis Today album and Presley used it in almost every live show until his death. Harry Connick, Jr. included the song on his 2009 album, Your Songs. Other performers who have recorded the song include, Shirley Bassey, Glen Campbell, Bobby Goldsboro, Emmylou Harris, Engelbert Humperdink, Howard Keel, Johnny Mathis, Nana Mouskouri, Jim Nabors, Tom T. Hall, Helen Reddy, Bobby Vinton, etc. A Filipino film starring Bea Alonzo, Sam Milby and Derek Ramsay with the same name used the song as its official soundtrack. Rick Astley covered it on his 2005 album, Portrait.

The Third Wave was a family band comprising of 5 sisters of Philippine heritage from Stockton, California. They made their first debut in circa 1969-70 with the album 'Here and Now' from which this track is from. They made appearances on The Smothers Brothers show, and some music broadcasts shows in Germany during the Black Forrest festival where they did lounge Jazz outfits. I first found out about them from Cripple Hot Wax records website through an album entitled Naz Bar from Anubian Lights. It has occurred to me that they may have had some appearance in some obscure saturday morning live action show on a re-sendicated series re-run in the late 70's which were common then. Although, as it is sketchy, I could be wrong and the memory could have been something else besides the Bugaloos. Information about them on the net has been scant also. This video was done in a kitsch fashion to invoke the local spirit of the time with some recent photos that would connect it with the current time setting. The house at the closing represents the long-gone, end to the local legend culture in family music and community staples that, due to favor for fast commercial pop-restructuring, was and has been put to the thrift-side and sadly forlorned if not forgotten.

In August 2008, Heather's ovarian cancer recurred. 6 days before her 2nd operation, she sang "The Rose" in DMR's Talent Show. Organized by Rick Camara, the talent show had 20 participants, both clients and members of staff. I won HOT 99.5's Messfest Idol contest, so I got to be opening act for the show. I opened up for Bo Bice and The Click Five. It was a lot of fun! My friend Joel took this video at the show with his digital camera. The sound quality is a little low, but the video itself is pretty good. (Note: Yes, I know that Passion also has an acoustic version of "So Sick". No, I'm not trying to compete with him, because I love his stuff too! This is the song the radio guys kept asking me to sing, because it was a "hot" song and people would recognize it. I obliged, and I still had a fun time singing it!)
