On June 4 2009, a line of severe rotating thunderstorms developed in Western Oregon. These storms lasted over 3 hours producing downburst winds of 60-70 mph, 1" diameter hail, and even a brief tornado near Salem. A wind gust 22 miles east of Salem was estimated 80 mph. There were numerous unconfirmed tornado reports in several counties. Atmospheric conditions earlier in the afternoon prompted the Storm Prediction Center to issue a "Severe Thunderstorm Watch", and warnings followed soon after. The watch that was issued could have been a first to ever include the Portland Metro. An unstable atmosphere characterized by surface CAPE values of 1000 - 1500 J/kg. This video contains spoilers for FFTA2, but to mark spoilers would imply that this game actually has a plot. Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift is a very unbalanced game. But, it also has lackluster final bosses. Given the right items, stats, and abilities, it is possible to KO all of the bosses in one attack. Well technically, the true final boss needs two attacks. ~Major Damage Contributors~ Stat Bases Stat Growths A-Abilities: Focus (Attack 1.8x) Passive Ability: Turbo MP (Magick 1.5x) Clan Privilege: Power Up 5 (damage 1.25x) Equips*: Crimson Tear, Snowy Tear, Moon Maiden Items: Eureka Crystal (Attack +35), Grimoire Stone (Magick +35) Illua's level depends on your clan's average level but will never be below level 50 or above level 59. If Illua is at level 57 or below, it is possible to one hit knock out (OHKO) her with a newly recruited level 30 Viera using Ultima. Recruit the Viera as a Green Mage for the best stat distribution, learn Ultima Masher, and set up equipment as shown in the image: farm4.static.flickr.com Use a fast unit to restore the Viera's MP before the Viera attacks. Note that this isn't really a valid way to defeat Illua. If you can get a couple Moon Maidens, you'll have no trouble with Illua. The Neukhia is harder to OHKO. Even with the Wisp gone, the Core still has 1130HP. Because the damage of every hit caps at 999, divide the damage between two hits via Doublecast or Doubleshot. So I rebuilt my 4-400 VTTC and took a video of the discharge. Here are the specs: 30 ohm plate resistor in series with a 5uH coil plate voltage is ~3KV filtered with a 2uF 4KV cap screen voltage is ~300V though a 10K resistor full wave rectified and filtered with a 4uF 1KV cap 39K grid to ground resistor 5.2VAC @ 15A to the filliment 12 turn secondary resonant freq is about 15MHz unknown power output... the tube is cooled by the fan you can see in the video. I remade my old ZVS flyback driver as seen here 4hv.org and here is my new one farm4.static.flickr.com The picture isn't exactly up to date because I replaced the 470ohm resistors with 560ohm resistors to stop the parasitic oscillations I was having trouble with. In the video the entire thing is drawing about 8A max @ ~14V so that's only about 100W... not much really. The tank cap's capacitance is .5uF (.488uF mesured). It used to be only two caps as seen here but the caps started heating up a bit at higher powers... farm4.static.flickr.com The supply's inductor is 214uH and there are 5 turns on the flyback's core. I used the equvelent of a UF4007 and two 1W 12V zener diode. The negative wire is 12 awg and the flyback to driver's wire is 10 awg to handle the current. I used IRFP250N MOSFETs which is better than my old IRF740 ones. In the video you can see the voltage drop a lot becuase the batteries are kinda old... I am going to build a MOT power supply soon so voltage drop would be less of a problem. EDIT: new pic farm4.static.flickr.com

Aurora Nebraska Tornado as seen by our quadcam Nearly got us! I am a photojournalist for WDAF TV 4 in Kansas City. I was out chasing when we caught the tornado south of Aurora NE on Thu 29 May 2008.
