"REAL MONEY" T-SHIRTS @ executees.net Needy families are being turned away from some San Fernando Valley food pantries where supplies have hit near-record lows, forcing at least one location to temporarily close for the first time in more than a decade. The shortages come as pantries report record high demand for assistance as the recession forces middle-class families to join the poor in the distribution lines. "We're getting lawyers, teachers and even television writers who are coming for food," said Judy Aguilar, a supervisor at the Van Nuys-based Lutheran Social Services pantry, which feeds 1300 clients each month. "They're people who might not have needed help in the past, but they do now. "It's gotten worse because there are no jobs, and we're getting new clients every day." The Lutheran Social Services pantry shut down midweek when it ran out of food, and only a mid-morning delivery of federal government staples on Thursday kept the operation from being closed a second day.

A somewhat scatterbrained response to Spawk and IndividualAutonomy. On the one hand I agree with what you guys say. On the other, advocating strict immigration controls would necessarily expand the police state and homeland security to a very high degree, which as you know, can and will turn on those not originally targeted. It could also shoot the long term growth of the anti-state movement in the foot. Perhaps I should do a post on Tumblr to further explain, especially the part about phenotype and genetics + environment. It depends on if I'm lazy or not.

www.RonPaul.com - 07 by Ron Paul Last week I was pleased to see my Republican colleagues take up the cause to fully and completely audit the Federal Reserve by including my language from the Federal Reserve Transparency Act in a motion to recommit the Financial Regulation Reform Bill. Although this effort was defeated by the Democrat majority there were many good reasons to support it. The Federal Reserve Transparency Act would eliminate restrictions on GAO audits of the Federal Reserve and open Fed operations to congressional oversight. Additionally, audits could include discount window operations, open market operations and agreements with foreign central banks, such as the ongoing dollar swap operations with European central banks. Since its inception the Federal Reserve has always operated in the shadows without sufficient scrutiny or oversight while Congress has kept its hands off and its eyes closed. The Federal Reserve has presided over the near-complete destruction of the United States dollar. Since 1913 the dollar has lost over 95% of its purchasing power, aided and abetted by the Federal Reserve's loose monetary policy. The Federal Reserve Transparency Act would achieve much more needed transparency of the Federal Reserve system. However, House and Senate negotiators failed to include the full language of my legislation in the conference report for the Financial Reform Bill, and the full Congress missed yet another opportunity to demand accountability from the ...
The federal government is now telling American citizens to stay out of three southern Arizona counties. It is too dangerous because of armed smugglers from Mexico. About 3500 acres of southern Arizona along the Mexican border is closed to US citizens due to increased violence in the region. The closed off area stretches 80 miles along the border and includes part of the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge. It was closed in October 2006 "due to human safety concerns," the US Fish and Wildlife Service said Wednesday in response to news reports on the closure. Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu told Fox News that violence against law enforcement officers and US citizens has increased in the past four months, further underscoring the need to keep the 80 miles of border land off-limits to Americans. The refuge had been adversely affected by the increase in drug smugglers, illegal activity and surveillance, which made it dangerous for Americans to visit. "The situation in this zone has reached a point where continued public use of the area is not prudent," said refuge manager Mitch Ellis. Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu: Quite frankly I'm telling you as a sheriff that we don't control that part of the county. My county is larger than the state of Connecticut and we need support from the federal government. It's their job to secure the border and they haven't done it. In fact President Obama suspended the construction of the fence. FOX News reporter: Would you like to see some of ...

"The situation in this zone has reached a point where continued public use of the area is not prudent," said refuge manager Mitch Ellis. "It's literally out of control," said Babeu. "We stood with Senator McCain and literally demanded support for 3000 soldiers to be deployed to Arizona to get this under control and finally secure our border with Mexico. " US Fish and Wildlife officials have warned visitors in Arizona to beware of heavily armed drug smugglers and human traffickers. "We need support from the federal government. It's their job to secure the border and they haven't done it," said Babeu. "In fact, President Obama suspended the construction of the fence and it's just simply outrageous." Signs have been posted warning Americans not to cross into the closed off territory south of Interstate 8. Babeu said ...

This is the VOA Special English Education Report, from voaspecialenglish.com President Obama sent Congress a proposal in March to rewrite the main federal education law. The current version of the law, signed by George W. Bush eight years ago, is known as the No Child Left Behind Act. That name would go away. The current policy calls for every student to be able to pass state tests in reading and math by two thousand fourteen. All schools must show yearly progress toward this goal. But states decide how much students need to know to show "proficiency." President Obama's goal is that every student should graduate from high school "ready for college and a career." The target date for schools is twenty twenty. The president described the plan in one of his weekly radio and Internet addresses. The president said "What this plan recognizes is that while the federal government can play a leading role in encouraging the reforms and high standards we need, the impetus for that change will come from states and from local schools and school districts." Under the new proposal, states and school systems would compete for federal grants. The idea is similar to the administration's four billion dollar Race to the Top competition to reform schools. Struggling schools could receive money for teacher improvement and for developing plans for success. The lowest performing schools would face changes such as replacing teachers and the principal or being closed. The administration sent its ...
Join Lieutenant Stanfordo (CAW Economist Jim Stanford) as he attempts to find out what has actually happened to Canada's supposed economic recovery. In The Curious Case of the Missing Recovery, Stanfordo searches far and wide for answers to a mystery that continues to baffle hard-working Canadians. How can the federal government and Bank of Canada proclaim an economic recovery when hundreds of thousands of workers are still jobless, and millions are still reeling from one of the worst downturns since the Great Depression? This case takes Stanfordo through various workplaces hit hard by the global economic crisis. Stanfordo visits a closed mattress factory in Brampton, Ontario that has left workers out of a job and with no access to severance pay; the headquarters of a bankrupt telecommunications giant that has left its pensioners hanging on a string; and a workplace action centre struggling to find good, stable jobs in the community. The Curious Case of the Missing Recovery is full of mysterious twists and frightful turns... until of course Stanfordo realizes there really is no mystery to solve, since an economic recovery hasn't yet happened.

We recognize that the federal government has seized unlimited power over virtually every aspect of Americans lives in violation of the Constitution of the United States, specifically in regards to the 10th Amendment. We call upon freedom-loving citizens everywhere to stand with us as candidates for state and federal office, to pass meaningful and sensible legislation to restore the most critical check and balance deliberately designed into our Constitutional republic that of strong sovereign states. We pledge to limit and restrain all federal government exercise of power that exceeds in any way the plain language of those few powers listed in the Constitution and to nullify all others that exceed such limit. When we respect the balance of power between the states and federal government according to the Constitution, our country will once again enjoy the dynamic blessings of liberty and prosperity.
