Stu Hamm wraps up a 10 minute solo with our national anthem at the Samson Hartke booth in Anaheim January 17, 2010. Shot with the Canon T1i and included kit lens. Sound quality is very limited by the on board mic and the camera has no external mic jack. It really cannot handle the lows of a bass guitar at any volume so take that into consideration when listening.

Forgive the audio; the Canon Rebel T1i built in mic just isn't able to handle the low bass frequencies even at really low volume. I heard him play this (on a copper colored Fender) last year but i had a really crappy camera! Figures the crappy camera had better sound quality.... But this video is FAR superior. Enjoy!

Here I am demonstrating Stuart Hamm's rendition of The Star Spangled Banner. You need a bass guitar with at least 21 frets so my regular Fenders get a break today. This isn't perfect because it's pretty difficult. Look for Stu Hamm's version to see one of the great bass guitar masters play this himself.
amazing bass solo
It's a complete version of Moonlight Sonata performed by myself with my Yamaha RBX 170. I've recorded the music by microphoning my Randall RB30XM without using any effects (a little reverb would be great though). Strings are 0.40 Fender 7250's washed in acetone bath for 2 weeks (not on purpose). I've transcribed the notes by myself, and tried to play it "fluent" (not "scattato" as in the other videos) so sorry for the ones looking for any tabs, coz I haven't got any. There are a few mistakes at the end, but it's really exhausting to play it flawless. I hope you enjoy and feel free to write your opinions. Edit: many comments are coming about the level of my amp. The level seems ok for me, even with my notebook speakers, but in some parts, it's normal for it to sound too low, coz i'm getting too "light" on the strings to lay some "emotion" on the piece. The only possible reply for this case is: turn up your volume :)

I had many problems recording this video because i had to record a video and a sound with 2 seperate programs... When i tried to combine them, the tracks weren't synchronised... Whatever... This record is a rendition of a bass tapping example of Stu Hamm from the instructional video "Slap, Pop and Tap for the Bass". I took the video using my notebook with my Yamaha RBX170 plugged into the mic input. The strings are fairly dead Fender 7250's 0.40, but to obtain a bright sound, I made the recording right after I pick them up from their acetone bath which lasted for 2 days. It was really challenging to play for the video to be flawless, but there are still a few mistakes, sorry about that. I hope you enjoy it and do not hesitate to write your opinions.
