The threat of more terror attacks still loom over the city of Mumbai. 7 Million citizens travel by the local trains everyday out which atleast 30% will be students traveling to their college / classes or jobs. Despite the Mumbai Train Blasts 2006 or the CST Firing in November 2008, the security arrangements at the busiest of our train stations are shameful. While traveling by train every day, I see the so many citizens walk in and walk out of the stations without being checked or questioned. They dont even pass though the metal detectors which are never even properly monitored- some of them dont even work !!!. The police seems to be on the look out for "suspicious looking" characters, but i think we all know that terror has no definite face, name or religion. The very fact that there are SO MANY citizens at the station should be a strong enough reason for the authorities to make stronger security arrangements and not use that as an excuse to hide their inadequacies. I would like to start a movement that will push for police reforms and accountability. I have gone into 3 of Mumbai's busiest stations- CST, Churchgate and Dadar with my camera to expose the 'gaps' that exist in the security infrastructure at the above. Maybe these are things you see everyday while traveling it too, but in the rush of reaching on time-we often ignore some of the most crucial things.
