Celebrating the start of spring and the start of a spring equinox. It is on March 20, which is on Tuesday.
March 20, 2012: Google celebrates "spring equinox". Spring equinox is a simple thing ... An equinox occurs twice a year, when the tilt of the Earth's axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, the center of the Sun being in the same plane as the Earth's equator. In short: the length of day and night are equal. :-) First Day of spring, the summer arrives :-) Happy "spring equinox". music: "Fensters Explanat" by Kevin MacLeod
Today it´s the first day of spring, it´s the so called spring equinox, that means day and night are approximately 12 hours long. It also means it´s getting warmer, nature will awake, and the summer is not so far away. Enjoy spring time and look forward to the summer! Have fun ;-)

Reza Pahlavi Nowruz Message پیام شاهزاده رضا پهلوی به مناسبت نوروز ۱۳۹۱ Iran Nowrūz (Persian: نوروز, IPA: [nouˈɾuːz], "New Day", originally "New Light") is the name of the New Year in Iranian calendars and the corresponding traditional celebrations. Nowruz is also widely referred to as the Persian New Year. Nowruz is celebrated and observed by Iranian peoples and the related cultural continent and has spread in many other parts of the world, including parts of Central Asia, South Asia, Northwestern China, the Crimea and some groups in the Balkans. Nowruz marks the first day of spring and the beginning of the year in Iranian calendar. It is celebrated on the day of the astronomical vernal equinox, which usually occurs on March 21 or the previous/following day depending on where it is observed. As well as being a Zoroastrian holiday and having significance amongst the Zoroastrian ancestors of modern Iranians, the same time is celebrated in parts of the South Asian sub-continent as the new year. The moment the Sun crosses the celestial equator and equalizes night and day is calculated exactly every year and Iranian families gather together to observe the rituals. Originally being a Zoroastrian festival, and the holiest of them all, Nowruz is believed to have been invented by Zoroaster himself, although there is no clear date of origin. Since the Achaemenid era the official year has begun with the New Day when the Sun leaves the zodiac of Pisces and enters the zodiacal sign ...

1st March, officially the first day of spring, but it's somehow time for cyclocross riding. This is a ride round my local village of Helmshore before work starts and what a morning it was. The new prototype Planet X bike is a stunning ride - this is the first outing - very impressive morning for that, too. More to come on that.
Literally the first day of Spring. Lovely morning so I headed out to the garden to sort out the big bed and cover it with good old farmyard manure. It's the first time I've chanced allowing Kobe and Kaia to chase the shoe together - pretty exciting and competitive stuff - and they just had a great time. They were almost knackered when I thought of making a little video to show you how great they are together but I'm just so pleased!!!

Mărţişor is a traditional celebration of the beginning of Spring, on 1 March. It is a tradition in Romania, Moldova, and all territories inhabited by Romanians and also Aromanians. Almost the same custom can be found in Bulgaria and similar ones in Albania[a] and Italy. The name Mărţişor is the diminutive of marţ, the old folk name for March (Martie, in modern Romanian), and thus literally means "little" or "dear March". It is also the folk name for this month. Mărţişor, marţ and mărţiguş are all names for the red and white (or black and white, also blue and white) string, from which usually a small decoration is tied, and which is offered by people on the 1st day of March. Giving this Talisman to other people is an old custom, and it is believed that the one who wears the red and white string will be powerful and healthy for the year to come. It is also a symbol of the coming spring. Usually, women wear it pinned to their blouses for the first 12 days of this month, until other certain spring celebrations, or until the bloom of certain fruit-trees. In some regions, a gold or silver coin is hanged from the string, which they wear it around the neck. After wearing it for a certain period of time, they buy red wine and sweet cheese with the coin, according to the belief that their faces would remain beautiful and white as cheese, and rubicund as the red wine, for the entire year. In modern times, the Mărţişor lost most of its talisman properties and became more of a symbol ...

Весело хумористично стихче... Martenitsa is a small piece of adornment, made of white and red yarn and worn from March 1st until the 22nd March (or the first time an individual sees a stork or swallow). Mart is the Bulgarian word for the month of March. The name of the holiday is Baba Marta, a Bulgarian tradition related to welcoming the upcoming spring. The month of March, according to Bulgarian folklore, marks the beginning of springtime. Therefore, the first day of March is a traditional holiday associated with sending off winter and welcoming spring. The red and white woven threads are not just meaningless decoration, but symbolize the wish for good health. They are the heralds of the coming of spring in Bulgaria and life in general. While white as a color symbolizes purity and soul, red is a symbol of life and passion, thus some ethnologists have proposed that in its very origins the custom might have reminded people of the constant cycle of life and death, the balance of good and bad, of sorrow and happiness in human life. Given as an amulet in the period of spring, when nature gets reborn and starts blossoming again it was not only a reminder of that balance but also a wish for health, strength and happiness.
