This video was taken Jan 31st 2010 on a cold but sunny day from a vantage point high up on Lurg Moor, above and behind Greenock. Firth is a Scottish word meaning estuary or bay, iewhere the River Cyde enters the sea. Panning from left to right, the shot covers Cowal and Dunnoon, Helensburgh and Gare Loch and in the distance can just be seen the snow capped peaks of the Kilpatrick Hills.Greenock is old industrial port with deep water mooring which attracts the cruise liners.

I took my bike out for a run to blow the cobwebs of work from my head. On the way I stopped just North of Ardrossan to film the view across the Firth of Clyde to Arran. I then headed on up the coast and took the wee ferry from mcinroy's Point to Hunters Quay. I then took the road along the shores of Loch Eck, returning via the Rest & Be Thankful.

The Waverley Paddle Steamer arrives at Ayr, picks up new passengers and sets sail out into the Firth of Clyde toward the beautiful island of Arran, sailing past the Holy Isle. This simply has to be one of lifes wonderful and truly elegant Victorian pleasures. If you have not yet tried a cruise on the Waverley, I urge you to do it soon, the summer cruising season from June to October is all too short!. For our American, Canadian, Australian and European cousins, a day trip up the Clyde from Ayr docking at Largs, then accross to Millport on the isle of Cumbrae, from there to Rothesay on the isle of Bute on the way to Tighnabruaich and onward to Tarbert and a cruise up Loch Fyne. At the top of the Kyles of Bute, we pass through a narrow channel with rock outcrops only feet from the paddle boxes on either side. To port the steep banks on Bute and to starboard the 1600 foot Ben Bhreac make for the most spectacular cruising imaginable, all topped off with a lovely meal served in the elegance of the onboard restaurant. The steady slapping rhythm of the paddles, the hiss of steam and the wonderful aroma of the gigantic, living steam engine make this one of the worlds truly un-missable and memorable experiences.
Paul, Jackie, Cyril & Davie take to the skys on a beautiful afternoon on the 25th July 2009. We take off from Prestwick, Ayrshire, Scotland. It is the Aryshire coastline and the Firth of Clyde you see in the view. Another wonderful flight, I'm so lucky having a nephew like Paul.
Paul introduces Davie to flying, all is going well as we fly over the Firth Of Clyde towards the Isle Of Arran, until Paul decides to stall the plane... HELP! In the view on this clip you can see the Island of Arran with Kintyre in the distance, to the right you can see the Island Of Bute (Rothesay), Scotland.
