Maiden flight of my J-Power 50mm EDF Hawk. Mods I did were swapped out the stock fan unit for my own 50mm EDF unit and 4850 inrunner. Inserted a tailpipe to suit which reduced the exit diameter another 6mm. removed wing servos and replaced them with a single servo mounted in the centre of the wing. Cut the ailerons off and re-hinged them using clear tape. I made the wing removable using GWS wing locator brackets and a screw bolt at the rear into a piece of ply that I epoxied to the inside fuse just in front of the fan. I also epoxied a layer of cloth there to strengthen the foam as it would be a very weak spot having to hold the wing. I used the stock lipo - 850mah 3S 20C for the maiden as I didn't have any suitable lipo's myself. I spent the first minute of the video trimming it down to stop it nosing up constantly. Well I made this video as a dedication to Kida, I feel so sorry for his poor little heart. Especially since he tries so hard for his friends. ;___; The last few episodes really made me depressed, but it really fit, and episode 23... my goodness. oo Kida didn't deserve any of that. D': So this video is about Kida's past and how he is now "shattered" because of how he always wants to protect his friends, mainly Saki a year ago and how it affects him now, even though he wants to change himself. He is trying and somewhat succeeding for his friends Anri and Mikado, but he still feels pain and he knows it'll take more time for him to completely heal from the pain he got from Saki's accident. I also wanted to try editing with the fades, since I can never do well with beat-matching. But that failed. Some of the timing was off. LOL. I think that was YT half the time though, because I previewed the video on my computer and it was fine. Super sorry about the video quality. Didn't know it was on sepia, and the video was taken with a digital camera, plus it was just a horrible day for recording. This is the first time I ever flew a ducted fan aircraft, and the second time I ever flew anything. The first time in my life was for about 1 minute with a foamy pitts in 15 mph winds, and this is the second time. (Pretty bad landings as you will see) This is the FMS Dassault Alpha EDF. It's snowing outside and around 15 degrees. I painted the canopy black. Using DX5e on the low setting...wish I had a better Tx. I had the CG a little off so it was nose heavy. Batteries (2200 4s 20c) lasted about 4 minutes at full throttle and esc has a hard cut-off(need to change that), so on every landing I get in trouble(you can actually hear the cutoff when I'm trying to land). Can do rolls and loops pretty easily. Wish it had rudder control. Although landings were rough, walked away with no damage. Very fun aircraft. Realy easy to put together. I am definitely addicted to the hobby. Need to work on my landings. Recorded 4/22/10. Thanks for watching.
Simple Mods I used to help my Rafale fly and perform shorter take offs and more scale landings. The stock set up of the plane out the box for my plane never flew properly, it would just bounce off the ground and slam back down onto the pavement and just bounce around like a pogo stick! Moving the main landing gear forward just behind the CG helped lift the plane off the ground, but it would still slam back down onto the ground once again bouncing on it's landing gear. I was extremely lucky I never crashed the plane when I should have on each flight attempt. I replaced the control horns and tightened up alot of flex on the control rods and horns, this allowed me to finally lift off the ground, but the plane still had much difficulty raising its nose in flight. I finally cut away foam to shift my battery back a half inch and adjusted my CG from 19 inches to 20.3 inches from the nose, and now the plane flies awesome, and also lands itself with the smallest amount of throttle.

One of my favorite FMs of all time. Has a sort of 'The Sword ' vibe to it I think. --- Couple things I'd like to point out: Firstly, sorry for the glitchyness of the body carrying. I'm using a newer graphics card than what the game supported and it is having trouble coupled with Timeslip's DDFix (ddfix is a tool for thief and thief 2) - I'll have to turn ddfix off when recording in the future to avoid this. Secondly, these videos get really large so I decided to cut them into pieces, and therefore actually recorded them this way. The avi filess posted for mystery man are unaltered, other than having been processed by VirtualDub so that they are much smaller. Thanks for coming here, and I hope you enjoy/enjoyed the video.
The snow has melted. So I flew my Cessna Skytrainer...It's the same as the FMS but with a better nose-gear....I beat on the nose-gear and it held up...Great flying plane. I stripped off some decals and added some flat-black anti-glare paint on the nose...The nose-gear was too tall, so I cut a 1/4in. off and that improve the take-off roll...
