Food Industry has no followers yet. Be the first one to follow.
Food businesses will look at inventory from a number of angles. Salespeople need to know how much is available for sale, warehouse managers need to know where it is, and owners and finance officers will want to know how much it is worth. Utilizing the VictualNet service platform we look at the many ways food distributors and processors will ask (and can get the answer for) "How much Inventory do I have?"
Big Food tries to pull a fast one over us re: packaged foods that are so unhealthy.

They can't walk, and they get sick easier, so antibiotics are put in their feed. Even sick chickens go to the plant for processing. The farmers end up as slaves to the corporations which insist on barn upgrades. Farmers typically borrow over half a million to start off, and make about $18000/year for their efforts. Michael Pollan - Omnivore's Dilemma We have an illusion of diversity, but only a few companies and only a few products are produced. A huge number of products are filled with corn. Corn is subsidized by the government, so producers find ways to get it into everything to make food cheaper. It's a commodity crop because it can be stored and engineered. Larry Johnson - Center for Crop Utilization Research High-fructose corn syrup and soya is in 90% of products including feed for cows, pigs, chickens and fish. WARNING: This is utterly shocking information. Many may prefer not to see this but what you don't know will kill your pets. On the FDA site they claim they came up with a test to find out if dog or cat DNA is in only a few brands none of which were mentioned. FDA claims there were no Dog & Cat DNA in the brands tested yet FDA does admit there are levels of phenobarbital in the pet foods. FDA's explanation is that euthanized rendered horses are likely. www.fda.gov This site explains what happens to horses equineprotectionnetwork.com So let me ask you this, all animals go to the same rendering plant, it's all protein meat, all the same when processed. Do you really think they separate euthanized Dogs & cats from the horses then label them differently? I doubt it. Somebody needs to see if that DNA test is even real or if we are looking at an FDA cover up through payoffs because this happens all the time with the drug companies & imagine the cost to the Pet Food industry if they actually have to buy fresh human grade meat. Its worth a payoff to protect the industry
For more Stories & Food News: cookingupastory.com Paul Roberts, veteran print journalist, and author of The End of Food, and The End of Oil, speaks at the first ever, Organicology conference, in Portland, Oregon. The story he tells here is a cautionary tale. Modern science has created the industrial agriculture revolution, producing enormous benefits for society. Though over time, many of these very same benefits lower costs of production, greater production yields, and greater efficiency through increased economies of scale, have led to serious systemic problems that threaten the entire agricultural system, perhaps even our planet.

www.innovativecommunications.tv In a summer filled with big blockbuster escapism, a sobering documentary offers viewers a more serious look at life. Its been over a hundred years since Upton Sinclair wrote The Jungle, which exposed the corruption of the American meatpacking industry. It depicted the harsh working and living conditions of the workers, and the great power of the few companies who fully controlled the industry. This grim indictment led to government regulations of the food industry. http www.innovativecommunications.tv Food, Inc., directed by Robert Kenner, is a modern view of the dirty underbelly of the food industry. Its surprising to see that things really havent changed much for the better since 1906. It asks the question-How much do we really know about the food we buy and serve to our families? Filled with great interviews and some almost shocking footage, this cleverly written film exposes the flaws in our modern, highly mechanized system of food production. Food Inc. is a must see film thats not afraid to ask important questions, and is a call to action for those seeking alternatives to the industrialization of our food. It opens in limited release on June 19.
www.foodincmovie.com In Food, Inc., filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation's food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that's been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government's regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. Our nation's food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment. We have bigger-breasted chickens, the perfect pork chop, insecticide-resistant soybean seeds, even tomatoes that won't go bad, but we also have new strains of e coli--the harmful bacteria that causes illness for an estimated 73000 Americans annually.
In June 2009, a stirring new documentary called Food, Inc. (link to blog post) is being release in theaters. From the producers of An Inconvenient Truth, this film takes a pointed look beyond the dinner table at how your food is grown, processed and sold. For many, youll never look at dinner the same way again. Stonyfield Farm is proud to be part of this film and prouder still that the questions raised in Food, Inc. point to organic food as the answer to the pressing issues of food safety, corporate greed, and the oppression that puts many family farmers and others out of business.

Please Subscribe! Great documentary by Peter Jennings on Obesity and Corn fed America.Obesity is fast on its way to becoming the nations largest and most costly public health problem. While much of the public debate about obesity has focused on personal responsibility, PETER JENNINGS REPORTING: HOW TO GET FAT WITHOUT EVEN TRYING reveals how federal government agricultural policies and food industry practices are contributing to Americas growing obesity epidemic. In this program, Jennings demonstrates for the first time how more federal agricultural subsidies are going to foods Americans should be eating less, while few subsidies go to foods we should be eating more. Jennings investigates the type of food products the packaged food industry introduces each year and finds that the vast majority of new food products are those that dietary guidelines say Americans should be eating least. Jennings also takes a bold look at the marketing of unhealthy food to children. Studies reveal that young children are not capable of understanding the intent of advertising and Jennings questions the ethics of such marketing, raising the question: should children be protected from junk food marketing—despite the economic impact that might have on food companies and broadcast networks? Within days of this documentary airing, schools across the country requested copies for use in their classrooms. Nutrition scholars are re-directing their research to examine the relationship of agricultural ...

The Enterprise of Brockton, Mass. www.enterprisenews.com It's 6 pm, and at Liberty Bakery Kitchen, floor manager Manny Vieira is on Boston cream duty. Vieira takes a hollow doughnut and presses it against a tube, filling it with custard. Other workers are baking, frosting, powdering with sugar. The treats are being made for the region's ubiquitous doughnut chain, Dunkin' Donuts. It's a big operation: The Brockton factory supplies 132 of the chain's restaurants in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. "Made in Brockton" once applied primarily to shoes. Now the label might be more fitting for food, city advocates say. Chicago-style pizzas for Uno's restaurants, Near East pita bread, caramel for major candy bar brands — they're all manufactured here. And many of the largest businesses that have moved to the city in recent years are in food. "We're not really surprised about the fact we're getting food manufacturers," said Mary Waldron, executive director of the 21st Century Corp., a city-funded development group. "Brockton has affordability — much better prices compared to the region north of us," she said.

In this ABC News special, Peter Jennings reveals how government policies and food industry practices are helping to make Americans fat. Mr. Jennings' report begins in the farmlands of America and includes government agencies and representatives from the food industry. He examines how the type of government subsidies provided to farmers influences which foods are marketed or emphasized as part of healthy eating standards.
Once again Health Canada imposes draconian measures that resulted in the Suicides of 2 people and the hospitalizations of many more. Are they really protecting the Health of Canadians or the Health of the Pharmaceutical Industry. In 2003 Health Canada seized Truehope's product Empowerplus as it was coming across the border, knowing that it was going to cause harm to Canadians. Truehope is now involved in a court case against Health Canada, that if won will allow for more freedoms in the Health food industry and prevent Bill C-51 from coming in. If passed, Bill C-51 will basically be the end of the Health food industry as we know it by ushering in Codex. This is a call to action.
