A ferry ride 70 miles west of Key West takes you to the end of the Florida Keys at Dry Tortugas National Park. It is here on Garden Key that you will find historic Fort Jefferson, constructed from 1846 to 1875 (but never fully completed) to guard one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. The island is a great spot for exploring, swimming and snorkeling.
