Raymond Boisjoly is a Vancouver based artist. Conceived as active speculation, the articulation of belief motivates his present and future work. Boisjoly has participated in exhibitions at Vancouver Access ARC, the TARL house (Seattle), Helen Pitt Gallery ARC (Vancouver), the Vancouver Art Gallery, and Or Gallery (Vancouver). Boisjoly received a Fleck Fellowship from the Banff Centre for the Arts in 2010. On October 22nd, Raymond Boisjoly began the first iteration of FORT CLUB at The Hedreen Gallery in Seattle, Wa as part of the year long experiment titled, HOUSE SYSTEMS. The Hedreen Gallery in the Lee Center for the Arts at Seattle University Announces HOUSE SYSTEMS, a year long experiment in ad-hoc collaboration, free choice learning, interdisciplinary study, and endurance. The house system is a traditional feature of British-acculturated schools. The Bishop Cotton School was one of the first public schools in the world to have a House System, which is an attempt to create camaraderie out of a faceless crowd. The word house refers only to a grouping of pupils under one of various banners, each with their own internal hierarchy and structure. The question worth investigating is the model of education applied to art. HOUSE SYSTEMS will use its chosen structure as a tool to negotiate between the academic structure of an institution and the structure of the external practice of art. What we're doing is essentially a group experiment - we're verifying/overturning assumptions ...

Fort Worth Texas locks down their entire school system as confirmed swine flu cases leap. School dismissal and childcare closures are an important part of a comprehensive, layered mitigation approach aimed at reducing disease transmission and associated morbidity and mortality during the 2009 H1N1 virus outbreak in the US. Schools plays a critical role in protecting the health of their students, staff, and the community from contagious diseases such as H1N1 influenza. Children are very susceptible to getting this new virus and schools may serve as amplification point for spread of this new virus in a community. The reason for closing schools during this H1N1 outbreak is to try to reduce the spread of the virus. However, little information is available on what the effectiveness of a school closure might be in preventing further community spread of this new virus. In addition, the risk of severe illness from this virus is not yet clear. CDC recommends that affected communities with laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza A (H1N1) virus infection consider activating school dismissal and childcare closure interventions according to the guidelines below. Affected communities may include a US State or proximate epidemiological region (eg, a metropolitan area that spans more than one States boundary). These guidelines address a flexible and scalable approach that States and local jurisdictions can use based on the situation in their communities (eg number of cases, severity of ...
