1984 (Appearance on Freddie Starr TV Special) ABOUT Freddie Starr: Frederick Leslie Starr (born Frederick Leslie Fowell on 9 January 1943 is an English comedian who became famous in the early 1970s. He is also an impressionist and singer, with a chart album (After The Laughter) and UK top 10 single (It's You in March 1974) to his credit. In the early 1960s, Starr was the lead singer of the Merseybeat pop group The Midniters. The group was promoted by the manager of the Beatles, Brian Epstein, and was recorded on the Decca label by Joe Meek, the producer of the single "Telstar". During this period Starr performed in nightclubs in Hamburg and was an acquaintance of the Beatles. Still relatively unknown to television audiences, Starr was "discovered" through the talent show, Opportunity Knocks. He appeared on the 1970 Royal Variety Performance. From 1972, he was one of the main performers in the television series Who Do You Do. and also a regular in Joker's Wild. He went on to star in his own series. Apart from the occasional guest appearance, Starr has not been seen regularly on British television since the late 1990s. ITV's The Freddie Starr Show, broadcast between 1996 and 1998, was his last major work for the medium.[8] His appearances on LWT's An Audience with Freddie Starr in 1996 and Another Audience with Freddie Starr in 1997 were critically acclaimed, although Starr admits in his autobiography that his television appearances often failed to capture the chaotic ...

Merseyside legend Freddie and his Midnighters were a sensation in Liverpool during the early Sixties. The genius himself, Joe Meek, produce their singles (all of them on Decca), the best of wich is the little beastie here, recorded in 1963. Check the odd, ear bleeding guitar solo and Freddie's scouser accent. Needless to say, this tune is a dance hall fave. According to many witness of the time, Freddie was a pure talent and he used to take the piss out of Joe Meek during the recording sessions with his practical jokes.
This is a song called Money Honey, sung by Freddie Starr from the enhanced album 'calling elvis' words below You know, the landlord rang my front door bell. I let it ring for a long, long spell. I went to the window, I peeped through the blind, And asked him to tell me what's on his mind. He said, Money, honey. Money, honey. Money, honey, if you want to get along with me. Well, I screamed and I hollered, I was so hard-pressed. I called the woman that I loved the best. I finally got my baby about half past three, She said I'd like to know what you want with me. I said, Money, honey. Money, honey. Money, honey, If you want to get along with me. Well, I said tell me baby, what's wrong with you? From this day on our romance is through I said, tell me baby, face to face How could another man take my place? She said, Money, honey. Money, honey. Money, honey, If you want to get a long with me. Well, I've learned my lesson and now I know The sun may shine and the winds may blow. The women may come and the women may go, But before I say I love you so, I want Money, honey. Money, honey. Money, honey, If you want to get along with me.

Wildman Freddie Starr had first appeared in the 1970's Impressionism show 'Who Do You Do', his other TV work includes 'The Freddie Starr Comedy Express, 'The Freddie Starr Exprerience' and his hilarious ITV show entitled simply 'Freddie Starr'. This was his last major TV work {apart from the odd TV guest appearance}, 'The Freddie Starr Show', this show seen him through some very corny material, although delivered with panache, most of the gags were limp and dated.
This performance is pure talent the best and most funny impression ever
