Version 1 of a documentary about the recent Pittsburgh G20 Protests, and the Police Occupation of the University of Pittsburgh. This film is a collaboration between Pittsburgh Indymedia, Chicago Indymedia, Twin Cities Indymedia, and the Glass Bead Collective. Expect a future version with even more footage, and more analysis about the G20 and the Occupation of Pitt.
This is a music video dedicated to the G20 protest turned holocaust in Pittsburgh, PA during the month of September, 2009. Many innocent students sacrificed themselves for the sake of curiosity and some cool vids on their iPhones; they will always be remembered. This video stars 'bike girl' as Prom Queen, mystery kidnapped protestor as mystery kidnapped protestor, and innocent bleedy neck girl as innocent bleedy neck girl. The song is a mashup entitled "2 Weeks 'til Prom" by Grizzly Bear & Lil' Wayne, produced by The Soundmen, and can be found for free on about any mp3 blog if you want it. The video was crappily edited overnight by an unemployed graduate of Pitt after realizing iMovie 08 was on his mactop. Most videos after 0:54 were borrowed from other youtubers. All photos are owned by the creator. Nearly 200 Arrested as Police Unleash Tear Gas, Sound Cannons at G-20 Summit in Pittsburgh As leaders of the worlds richest nations gathered in Pittsburgh for the G-20 summit, thousands took to the streets in protest amidst a heavy police crackdown. Heavily armed riot police were out in force and used tear gas, stun grenades, smoke canisters and sound cannons, which direct extremely loud shrill sounds. Democracy Now! producer Steve Martinez files a report from the streets of Pittsburgh. [includes rush transcript]
Luke Rudkowski of We Are Change gives an update of his encounters with the police and national guard at the Friday night g20 protest that took place at the University of Pittsburgh. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for helping us raise money for our legal defense fund. Every little bit helps tremendously as we take on the greatest injustice. They can beat us with batons, tear gas, arrest and use all sorts of weapons on us but out continuation to fight for humanity will never stop! Although the fight is still not over, other WeAreChange members like Danny (nyc), Sam (Ohio) and Phil (Philly) who were also arrested and released from the detention center, will have to go to court. The legal defense funds will go towards them getting a good lawyer and making sure they are taken care of. The money left from the fines and lawyer fees for everyone, will go towards launching a lawsuit. We are not backing down from this fight and have never forgotten our promise to you that we will fight to the very end. Lee and myself were advised by our lawyer, that the best thing we could have done is taken a plea deal that was equivalent of having a parking ticket. We decided to do so in order to pick our battles wisely and continue our efforts uninterrupted. I would rather pay a parking ticket then waste tremendous amounts of time and energy going back and fourth to Pittsburgh which is an 8hr drive ...

Part of a video documentary I made for the Pittsburgh protest march. This is a montage of videos that I shot during the Pittsburgh G20 protest 9/24/2009 and 92/25/2009. All video clips were shot with my Sony camera either on foot or on bicycle. I must state that I am strictly a journalist - I do not have bias or affiliation with any parties involved. Despite my lack of stance, I am fascinated with the events that took place as a demonstration of culture. I do not hold any grudges against the ...

The cops were using the natural lay of the land to create a perimeter to contain the protesters before they could do even more damage area businesses.
