"He called us rats, but look where we found him," said Ahmed Al Sahati, a 27-year-old government fighter, standing next to two stinking drainage pipes under a six-lane highway. Government fighters, video evidence and the scenes of sheer carnage nearby told the story of the dictator's final hours. Shortly before dawn prayers on Thursday, Gaddafi surrounded by a few dozen loyal bodyguards and accompanied by the head of his now non-existent army Abu Bakr Younis Jabr broke out of the two-month siege of Sirte and made a break for the west. But they did not get far. NATO said its aircraft struck military vehicles belonging to pro-Gaddafi forces near Sirte at about 8:30 am (0630 GMT) on Thursday, but the alliance said it was unsure whether the strikes had killed Gaddafi. Fifteen pick-up trucks mounted with heavy machine guns lay burned out, smashed and smoldering next to an electricity sub station some 20 meters from the main road, about two miles west of Sirte. They had clearly been hit by a force far beyond anything the motley army the former rebels have assembled during eight months of revolt to overthrow the once feared leader. But there was no bomb crater, indicating the strike may have been carried out by a helicopter gunship, or had been strafed by a fighter jet. Inside ...

Take a tour of Colonel Qaddafi's private luxury airplane. 7:02pm UK, Saturday September 03, 2011 It is yet another example of how Colonel Gaddafi concentrated Libya's oil wealth in his hands -- a private jet fit for a super-rich business tycoon. Sky's Anna Botting was given a tour of the luxurious airliner, in which the dictator had his own plush double bedroom complete with sofa, television and DVD player. There is even a Jacuzzi and showers -- and plenty of seats for Col Gaddafi's small army of female bodyguards and other staff. The former leader was prevented from using the plane to escape after opposition fighters, with the help of Nato, won control of Tripoli's airport last month. The jet suffered shrapnel damage during the battle for the key location.

This military jacket is all that is left of the memories of Amira, a young woman who studied at the police officers academy before joining Muammar Qaddafi's Revolutionary Guards. Amira, who had resigned from her post before the uprising began, had said that the job of being Qaddafi's bodyguards attracted poor women who had no other source of income available to them. Her sister Inas got a job at the airport in Tripoli after graduating from the same academy, unlike the majority of her classmates who got jobs as Qaddafi's bodyguards after graduation. These two sisters accompanied Al-Arabiya on a tour of the police officers academy which is today being guarded by fighters of the National Transitional Council. Qaddafi's regime gathered all the graduates of the academy as well as serving police officers and Revolutionary Guards and ordered them to fight the NTC fighters. All that seems left from that time are certificates of appreciation belonging to former students. Al Arabiya asked the sisters about the rumors that Qaddafi raped his female guards, a charge Amira said she knew nothing about. She did, however, say that the former Libyan leader was always trying to get people attention in various ways. "I have heard of that a lot. When I went to revolutionary guards, my family strongly objected because they were worried about me. I came from the east, from the al-Hasi tribe and I lived in Tripoli. Of course, I wanted to work and do something, so I had to join the revolutionary ...

Gaddafi's all female personal security force
translation by youtube user: ceire "She's called Aziza Ibrahim, a former bodyguard of Muammar al Gaddafi. Left him 17 years ago. An ex-raheba tawriya, a revolutionist nun, as Gaddafi calls them (cause they were not allowed to marry, per his orders). In addition to that, the lady bodyguards had to have strong/hard personalities so as to leave their families and everything behind them. Aziza says she didn't kill anyone, but tells that there was this lady who once shot a guy (an army man, Gaddafi's relative) who happened to raise his voice in front of/at Gaddafi. Just like that, in front of the audience. Aziza had left Lebanon and traveled to Libya in 1982, where she met Gaddafi's folks and was "scouted" to become one of his bodyguards. The process of choosing the bodyguards is done with utmost care. Those with higher rank are usually dark-skinned and the rest ten are like Aziza [TN: probably meaning that while the first group are the read deal, the latter group is chosen based on their looks]. One day al Lejan al Sha3biya [TN: 'Gaddafi's execution squads'] accompanied Aziza and a group of other bodyguards and students to at attend speech event by Gaddafi. There they witnessed the hangings of four students (among them was a student of law, caught just because he'd called someone in Irak). She also says that one of the individuals that was hung did not die immediately so they pulled on him to further hang him... all the while she stood there with her hands crossed in silence ...

Moammar Gaddafi's Virgin Body Guard
This man lobbied for a United Africa. He made flamboyant appearances around the continent, showing two faces to the West. Despite a failed attempt towards a United States of Africa, he at least succeeded getting the title King of Kings. But the journey of a man born in a tent and continued to love it during his presidency seems to be coming to an end. We now take you through the highs and lows of an African strongman, whose whereabouts remain unclear. Muammar El Gaddafi was born on 7th June 1942 to a Bedouin herdsman in a tent near Sirte on the Mediterranean. He abandoned university geography studies for a military career that included a short spell at a British army signals school, graduating from University of Libya in 1963. A devout Muslim and ardent Arab nationalist, Gaddafi began plotting the overthrow of the Libyan monarchy of King Idris I at an early stage. On Sept. 1, 1969, Gaddafi seized control of the government in a military coup that deposed King Idris. Gaddafi pushed out US and British military bases from Libya in 1970. He expelled most members of the native Italian and Jewish communities from Libya that same year, and in 1973 he nationalized all foreign-owned petroleum assets in the country. Libya's purported involvement in the bombing of a civilian airliner over Lockerbie, Scotland, in 1988, led to United Nations (UN) and US sanctions that further isolated Gaddafi from the international community. The Libyan leader embraced the pan-Arabism of the late ...
القذافي المجرم يضرب كلابة بكل عنف ... من ارشيف القناة الكورية
Muammar Gaddafi first entered the world stage in September 1969 when he led junior army officers in toppling King Idris in a bloodless military coup. One of his first tasks was building up the armed forces, but he also spent billions improving living standards, making him popular with the poor. Inspired by Arab nationalist sentiments he abandoned ties with Western powers and pursued aims of uniting Arab countries -- instigating the Arab Federation with Syria and Egypt in 1971 which soon broke down in argument and recrimination. Gaddafi's relations with the West, became increasingly strained leading to accusations in 1986 that he sent agents to blow up a Berlin club frequented by American marines. The US responded with air raids hitting one of Gaddafi's homes and killing his adopted daughter. Gaddafi designed a political system of local congresses where people were allowed to air their views and appoint representatives to the General People's Congress. Critics dismissed this move saying the Congress was dedicated to maintaining power and wealth in Gaddafi's hands. He poured money into projects like the Great Man-Made River, a scheme to pipe water from desert wells to coastal communities. The project, which Gaddafi has described as the eighth wonder of the world, is estimated to have cost 20 billion dollars. When Pan Am Flight 103 blew up over the Scottish village of Lockerbie in December 1988, killing two hundred and seventy people, Western intelligence agencies were quick ...

Documentary, 2004 A film by Rania Ajami A Cipher Production International Sales: First Hand Films This documentary investigates the phenomenon of Qaddafi's elite female bodyguard corps and the tensions these women embody: tensions between Islam, modernization in a nomadic society, militarist feminism and an urban dictatorship. What sort of life do these women lead, what is their political position, and how has it evolved? The female guards in Libya are unique as modern Islamic women that challenge Western stereotypes of the repressed Arab female. Using original and archival footage, and being the first to be allowed access to sites and persons in Libya, this two-year effort goes beyond existing representations of the Muslim woman by elucidating and criticizing a complicated ideal of a modern day Amazon warrior. Muammar Gaddafi, the Libyan dictator who looks like a beat-up Gene Simmons is reported to always have some lipstick-wearing, gun-carrying assassin women at his side. On his day off from suppressing Libyan citizens, Muammar established the Tripoli Women's Military Academy- a place where 100 handpicked women train in elite killing techniques, day and night, for three years. I feel a cheesy action movie in the works... Once they graduate, they get to wear designer sunglasses and heels while protecting the life of their leader...oh and did I mention their all virgins too? Reload from www.youtube.com | censor.net.ua | tsn.ua | Narrator When the leader sleeps, the soldier stays awake, and it's the women who do the fighting. Gaddafi trusts his security to ladies only. The head of the Libyan Jamahiriya has a total of 300-400 girls on his security detail. According to the official story, all of them are virgins. Selection is done by Gaddafi himself. There is an explanation for it: In ancient times, they believed that the best guards were either virgins or lesbians, the underlying belief being that they could sense threats, the so-called wind of death. The girls were even sterilized to make them more aggressive toward men. There can be different views on these stories, but it was the girls with Kalashnikovs who saved Gaddafis life several times. During the assassination, they shielded him from gunfire and grenades. One died, two others were wounded. The bodyguards are with Gaddafi day and night. Each of them can handle several strong men. According to some sources, most of the girls are Cuban.
The conflict in Libya has approached a stalemate. The opposing armies continue to move back and forth along the coastal road, capturing and relinquishing the same territory in an increasingly futile military ebb and flow. So the people of Libya are left to endure a continuing war of attrition - one that will only be resolved when one side or the other has a change of heart and mind. Inside Story, takes a step away from its usual format of discussion and analysis, taking you to the heart of this conflict, offering a small glimpse into mind of Muammar Gadaffi. This episode shows a film of Libya's leader making a trip to a school in Tripoli. His visit took place on Saturday and was his first televised public appearance in five days. Trying to look as relaxed as he could, even while surrounded by bodyguards, Gaddafi toured the school at a leisurely pace, listening to the children shouting anti-Western slogans and watching appreciativley as they chanted: "Only God, Muammar and Libya." This episode of Inside Story aired on Tuesday, April 12, 2011.
