Richard Anthony Murillo, 43, called 911 about 8:30 pm Wednesday, reporting that he'd fired about three shots and that a man was down, according to La Marque police records. Murillo hasn't been accused of wrongdoing. Francisco Silva, 39, of Texas City, died of gunshot wounds.

A woman who got a bad case of the bends while diving with friends about 120 miles off the Galveston coast, was pulled from her boat and taken to a Texas City hospital Sunday, a US Coast Guard spokesman said.
Natha Nuckols, 62, thanked Galveston firefighters for rescuing her from her burning home. Nuckols, who suffered third-degree burns and severe smoke inhalation, was recently released from the hospital.

Bolivar residents find oil on beach From staff reports The Daily News Published July 5, 2010 Residents on Bolivar Peninsula on Saturday said they found a small quantity of oil and several tar balls washed up on the beach. The residents reported their findings to the US Coast Guard and BP.
