Malkit Singh said, "Few days back when I was receiving the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire award from Queen I felt of say the Jai Kara "Jo Bole So Nihal" but being only sikh in that award ceremony so I was not able to do that but now I am in my country with our people so I can proudly say "Jo Bole So Nihal" and thousands of people in front of him give him reply very loudly say "Sat Sri Akaal" then he said this is my actual award he also sang his popular song "Tutak tutak tutiya hai jamalo". Rajiv Gandhi Awards is a tribute to the legendary Lt. Prime Minister, on his birth anniversary. Discorso tenuto da Gandhi alla conferenza delle relazioni interasiatiche, New Delhi, 2 Aprile 1947. Nel suo discorso Gandhi parla della differenza tra i popoli e come superarla, nelle sue parole vuole diffondere la politica di nonviolenza lanciando messaggi all'umanità intera, che tutt'oggi arrivano a noi, diventando parole di esempio per tutti. Nonostante siano state pronunciate nel lontano 1947 queste parole appaiono estremamente moderne e compatibili con la nostra era, chiaro segnale della veridicità e purezza delle di Gandhi
Come voi tutti sapete, L'ONU ha dichiarato il 2 ottobre, data di nascita di Mahatma Gandhi, la Giornata Internazionale della Non-violenza. Oggi Mahatma Gandhi appartiene a tutto il mondo. Siamo nel contesto della celebrazione mondiale di Satyagraha -- la verità e la non-violenza -- come praticata, sperimentata e vissuta da Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Mi chiedo se durante la storia, i concetti filosofici e morali della verità siano stati oggetto di una celebrazione così collettiva e cosciente nel mondo. Satyagraha -- non-violenza e verità -- sono inseparabili dal coraggio di Mahatma Gandhi. Il coraggio di Gandhi ha ispirato l'amore e la fiducia negli altri. La verità, l'audacia e la compassione saranno sempre rilevanti, e oggi ne abbiamo disperatamente bisogno. Personalmente ho compreso la filosofia di Gandhi non come studiosa o storica, ma dalle impressioni dei primi 14 anni della mia vita, quando ero molto vicina a lui e a sua moglie Kasturba. E adesso capisco sempre di più che il messaggio di Gandhi è una sfida diretta per la propria coscienza. Insieme a tutti voi rendo omaggio ai più grandi flussi spirituali e creativi dell'uomo e della natura, del passato e del presente, che hanno mantenuto in vita in ognuno di noi la scintilla dell'amore eterno. Tara Gandhi Bhattacharjee • Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi nasce a Porbandar, in India, il 2 ottobre 1869. • Dal 1927, dopo aver guidato le lotte per l'indipendenza del Paese, sarà acclamato dagli indiani come il Mahatma, la grande anima. • Laureato in Giurisprudenza a Londra, viene chiamato in Sudafrica alla fine dell'800 per difendere una ditta indiana. Sarà un esperienza decisiva: scopre l'apartheid e la discriminazione razziale dei lavoratori indiani. • Sempre in Sudafrica fonda "Indian Opinion", un quotidiano, consapevole della potenza della comunicazione e della necessità di utilizzare i mezzi più moderni. • Nel 1914 torna in Inghilterra. Allo scoppio della guerra, la sua vocazione pacifista lo porta a lavorare come barelliere. L'anno successivo torna in India, dove nel porto di Bombay viene acclamato come eroe nazionale. • Fin da subito, risveglia l'identità indiana e sarà promotore della "satyagraha", la disobbedienza civile e pacifica, come arma per l'indipendenza. • Le violente repressioni britanniche fanno scatenare vendette sanguinose. Gandhi, per fermare le violenze, userà il digiuno come forma di protesta, e ogni volta bollerà la violenza come malefica e ingiustificabile. • Gandhi era contro l'esclusione dei fuori casta, i poveri considerati nella cultura hindu dei predestinati a ruoli umili e ritenuti infetti di natura. Nei rapporti con le altre religioni fu sempre aperto, in particolare con i musulmani che in India rappresentavano una porzione importante della popolazione. • Nel 1921 si ritira dalla vita politica e concentra i suoi sforzi più per una riforma spirituale dell'India che per ottenerne l'indipendenza. • Nel 1942 invita gli indiani a una ribellione non violenta contro i britannici che hanno cercato di spaccare il paese tra hindu e musulmani. La dichiarazione è nota come "quit India" lasciate l'India. • Gandhi viene assassinato nel 1947. Le ultime sue parole sono state "Oh Dio".
